Headscratchers / Balan Wonderworld

  • Is there any logic as to what the victims' monster forms look like? For example...
    • Attilio's boss form is called Princess Marey. Why did being corrupted by despair turn him into a girl? (Or more specifically, an evil version of the girl he's in love with?)
    • Eis, a severe pyrophobic, turns into a dragon/fire hydrant creature that spews fire and lava. Wouldn't it make more sense for his fear of fire to turn him into a monster that snuffs out fires? Maybe something with Casting a Shadow.
      • The very reason that they change into what they fear is exactly because of that, as each form is made from their trauma, such as how Jose Gallard lost his farm to a massive tornado, and Barktholomew, his boss form, is literally a living cyclone of wind; the bosses take the form of their respective trauma, and it's also the reason why after defeating them, the corrupted inhabitants of Wonderworld are able to move on and keep going, because the source of their trauma had been dealt with by the protagonists.
      • The monsters are actually a combination of the costumes throughout the level.
  • How does time work in the Wonderworld? Apparently, Cass Milligan and Princess Merry are the same exact person, with the Princess being 10 years older than Cass. Both appear in the game, despite belonging to different times in the "real" world, with Princess Merry's suitor, Attilio Caccini, and Cass Milligan appearing together during the final boss, despite the years between them.
    • Long story short, it apparently exists along its own timeframe, with people of different points in time appear within it, depending how long perhaps within the theater itself they stay in their happy place.
    • This is explained in the novel. The Balan Theatre can time travel. After Cass went to Wonderworld as a child, the Theatre traveled ten years into the future to take Attilio to Wonderworld as well. Once they left Wonderworld, they returned to their respective times, with Cass needing to wait ten years before she can meet the Attilio she knew again. As for Wonderworld itself, Year Inside, Hour Outside applies here since it's implied that people can spend entire decades in Wonderworld, but when they finally leave, barely any time will have passed in the real world.
