• This exchange during the cow milking scene:
  Eli: You never had your hands on a teat before?
  Book: Not one this big.
• What really makes that scene work is Eli roaring with laughter at the remark (Not So Stoic after all), and Book doing a double-take at it.
• McFee accidentally stepping on cow manure and screaming, "Shit!"
• At the end of the movie, when Book is driving away, he passes Daniel on the road, who's coming to the Lapp farm—clearly, to visit Rachel. Daniel doesn't stop but gives a friendly touch of his hat brim as Book drives past, but behind him, the car stops for a moment, as if Book is briefly stunned to realise that Daniel would be so friendly to him.
