• Mulder: "You've never seen me panic. When I panic, I make this face", which is entirely deadpan and blank. And the Call-Back Lampshade Hanging when Mulder is trying to figure out what to do about the bomb a few minutes later.
  Mulder: Remember that face I showed you? I'm making it again.
• Mulder being bored on his assignment in Dallas:
  "Maybe we should call in a bomb threat to Houston. I hear it's free-beer night at the Astrodome."
• After Mulder sneaked out of the hospital after his gunshot wound in Byers' clothes, he tosses his jacket onto the street without a second thought while he runs away. It may be a little thing to notice, but it is funny.
• Bashing another movie about aliens, Mulder leaves a bar and takes a leak in an alley, against an abandoned poster for Independence Day.
