  • After Ariel rescues Eric, Sebastian tells Scuttle that they can never tell King Triton about what occurred.
Sebastian: You won't tell him. I won't tell him. And I will stay in one piece. You got it?
Scuttle: Got it. (beat) Sorry, what'd you say again?
Sebastian: (droops) I'm a dead crab.
  • After the show-stopping performance of "Under the Sea," Sebastian calls for Ariel and realizes she swam off again.
    • Even funnier in this version as it looks as though Ariel is enjoying the song as she even sings along to it, but as soon as the song is over, she's gone.
  • Triton tries to get answers out of Sebastian regarding Ariel's behavior. Sebastian thinks he knows about her going to the surface and gets uneasy until Triton asks him, in a loving and affectionate fatherly tone, "Is my little one in love?" And then Sebastian spills the beans because she is in love.
  • Ursula gets genuinely caught off-guard when Ariel refers to her as "the sea witch" as if she's offended that the kingdom thinks of her as such. This leads to her sounding disappointed when she sings "They weren't kidding when they called me, well… a witch." It's a tone that says, "I guess that's my reputation around here…"
  • When Ariel is being bathed by the castle's maids, she is handed a bar of soap and is told it has a nice smell. She responds by taking a bite of it.
Lashana: (to another maid) Quick, get her some food before she tries to eat the scrubbing brush.
    • Ariel also gets a bit of an offended, bewildered look on her face when Lashana talks about the supposed stink of seaweed on her.
  • When Sebastian reminds Ariel not to forget the kiss and (due to Ursula's spell making her unable to remember) she instead immediately plants a kiss on Sebastian, thinking he was asking her to kiss him.
  • Scuttle flying in after talking to Flounder and hearing what their plan for Ariel is.
Scuttle: Flounder told me everything! When is Ariel going to kill the prince?
    Sebastian: Not kill! Kiss!
    • This is doubly funny if you know this is an actual plot point of the original book, where after the prince marries another girl, the sea witch offers to spare the mermaid if she kills him (but the mermaid can't bring herself to go through with it).
  • The whole scene of Eric and Ariel in the former's collection chamber is extensive comedic sweetness.
    • While Eric likes the crystal that was inside the fossil, he understandably freaks out when Ariel breaks it apart.
    • Sebastian going "Hey, girl" to Ariel while he's hiding in a conch.
    • Ariel shows Eric that you can blow into a conch like a horn. Eric's attempt...is not as successful. Even Ariel finds it a little funny.
  • Grimsby and Lashana's "plausible deniability/blatant lies" conversation. "Yes, Lashana. What carriage, Lashana?"
  • Ariel at the market provides a barrel of laughs.
    • A coconut vendor offers her a drink from a freshly-opened coconut, which terrifies her (because Scuttle had been talking about how humans hate coconuts and would smash them).
    • Jodi Benson's cameo. She plays a vendor who gives Ariel a fork, which Scuttle told her was a "dinglehopper" used to comb hair. So, Ariel proceeds to do that, much to the confusion of the people around her.
      • And then she quickly realises that this is not what a fork is used for based on everyone's reactions, and proceeds to quickly drop the fork and walk away in embarrassment.
    • She nonchalantly eats a tropical flower given to her by another vendor.
  • During the "Kiss the Girl" number, Flounder, Scuttle, and Sebastian appear on Eric’s paddle while he rows during the chorus.
  • Scuttle receives her own musical number, where she shares the latest hot gossip to Ariel and Sebastian - by rapping. Her entire song is gloriously cheesy and silly, especially since her voice actress, Awkwafina, goes full ham with her line delivery.
Scuttle: Remember the swamp?! Remember my song in the swamp?! When I was like "whomp, chicka, whomp-whomp, chika, whomp-whomp?!"
Scuttle: Can you believe the Scuttlebutt? You're welcome for the Scuttlebutt! Sc-sc-sc-scuttlebutt, scuttlebutt!
  • During the scene when she transforms into Vanessa, Ursula is scrambling around her cavern looking for the right potion. She grows increasingly frustrated when she can't find it, and it reaches a point where she screeches out a Big "NO!"… only for the potion she was looking for to float right in front of her.
Ursula: Oh! There it is. I got it!
  • When Ursula is about to take Ariel away, Eric attempts to stop her. Ursula’s reaction is to go “Shut up!” and smack Eric to the side.
  • Ariel's tone when she reassures Scuttle that the bird was totally right about the dinglehopper indicates that she now knows what a fork is. (Presumably, the now-Crown Princess has been given etiquette and human training.)
