Funny / Thalia's Musings

Go To

A Snag in the Tapestry

  • The first three sentences, where Thalia is introducing herself:
“I like to screw with people. No, not like that. Well, yeah, like that, but that’s not what I’m talking about.”
  • “The wreath that the god Apollo wears on his head?”/ “No, the one the kitchen boy Apollo wears on his pinky toe. Of course the one the god wears on his head.”
  • Thalia explaining away the other muses' drinking song with "Mummy used to sing us to sleep with that song every night"
  • Drunken Eustachys:
“...Dionysus and Pan have been summoned – all four of ‘em,” *Holds up three fingers on each hand.*
  • Thalia realizing Echo’s identity: “Random salad Cyclops griffon pickles.”
  • Thalia demands a pet from Apollo; his response is to pet her. She was not amused.
    • “For example, if a mature, responsible goddess who lived in my house wanted a pet, I’d let her have one.” / “Calliope wants a pet? Why didn’t you say so?”
    • Aphrodite gifts Thalia with a pet dove that turns out to be Eros.
  • Aglaea gives a message to Hermes to give to Hephaestus and ends it with, “[I]f you alter that message or obscure its meaning in any way, shape, or form, I will cut off whatever part of your body strikes my fancy and feed it to the Hydra. Got it?”

Better to Reign in Hades (Side Story)

  • Persephone’s “abduction”:
    • Thalia, the long suffering director and her comments about actors.
      • Practising the scene with Hades.
    • Artemis getting stage fright and Athena is forced to ad-lib, by doing a strip-tease.

Snarled Threads

  • At Cronia, Apollo having to remake Thalia’s drink repeatedly because it’s not up to her standards.
  • Eros finishes up a story about crafting a love spear [unlike his arrows, would ‘get two people at once and have them stuck together so they couldn’t run away from their feelings’] and begins discussing his [currently unborn] half-sister and her potential powers [ie. healing].
“We can bring the spear back! She can heal people after I spear them!”

Unraveled

  • "“Your mom’s not funny,” I said. “Wait, that doesn’t work. We’re sisters. Too bad Apollo’s not here. Then it’d be funny because it’s true.”
