Behold, the greatest alternate costume ever created.
  • The "Stage Humiliations" that can occur when defeating your opponent in certain stages.
    • Bustling Side Street
      • Right side KO: The opponent is knocked into the bus, which drives away with them still inside.
      • Left side KO: Knocked through the wall of a Chinese restaurant. Knocking them out on the left again puts them in the kitchen, where a bowl of noodles will fall on their head. If there's still another round left, they'll keep the bowl on there until it gets knocked off.
    • City in Chaos
      • Right side KO: They break through the doors of the bank, interrupting a robbery. Knocking them right again locks them in the bank's safe.
      • Left side KO: Knocks the opponent into a hot dog stand on the left, with the giant plastic hot dog getting lodged onto their head until it's knocked off in the next round.
    • Kanzuki Estate
      • Right side KO: The opponent gets knocked into a fireworks cannon, before being fired into the sky along with the fireworks.
      • Left side KO: The opponent ends up in an armory where they're knocked into a samurai armor display, with the helmet lodged on their head until it's knocked off.
    • Union Station
      • Right side KO: The opponent is knocked into the royal guard playing the trombone, which causes his hat to come flying off and land on the opponent's head.
      • Left side KO: The opponent will break through the wall of the bathroom.
    • Underground Arena
      • Right side KO: They're knocked outside into the cold, where they'll crash into and be crushed by a snowman.
      • Left side KO: The opponent is knocked into the bar, where they'll end up with the top half of a Russian doll on their head.
    • Forgotten Waterfall
      • Right side KO: The opponent is knocked into Charlie Nash's sarcophagus, which then closes on them.
      • Left side KO: They end up with their head stuck in a log, as a group of kiwis gathers around them.
    • Hillside Plaza
      • Right side KO: The fruit stand gets knocked over, and the opponent ends up with bananas on their head the next round.
      • Left side KO: The opponent is knocked into the tunnel, and the carnival girls (plus one tourist) standing next to it end up following them. Next round, they'll come back with a carnival headdress on.
    • Apprentice Alley
      • Right side KO: The elephants grab the opponent out of the air, and begin throwing them around.
      • Left side KO: The opponent slams into the wall, with their pose mirroring the one of the yoga master next to them.
    • Shadaloo Base
      • Right side KO: They'll get shocked by a turbine, which explodes afterwards.
      • Left side KO: The opponent gets knocked into a kind of rocket-powered segway, which is being piloted by a Shadaloo grunt. As soon as they're inside, it rockets off, while the Shadaloo soldier just watches on as his ride flies away.
    • Lair of the Four Kings
      • Right side KO: The opponent lands with their face in the palm of an M. Bison statue, which somehow ends up shocking them with Pyscho Power.
      • Left side KO: They'll crash into the large monitor, which ends up displaying their fighter data.
  • R. Mika's Fanservice and Large Ham tendencies have been turned up to eleven for this game. Maximilian Christiansen lampshades it in his breakdown video for her, saying she feels more like a character from the Dead or Alive series.
  • Birdie has a few moves that can potentially lead to some hilarious KO's, if the opponent is at the lowest amount of health possible. Examples include slipping on a banana peel, tripping over a soda can, or even having a booger flicked at them, granted the opponent does nothing to stop Birdie from standing idle for seven or so seconds.
  • Let's face it, Hot Ryu is just way too funny of a nickname to not bring up. God knows Capcom might ascend this given their tendencies to ascend stuff like this.
    • It gets funnier in the PC version where "Hot Ryu" is swapped into the movesets and animations of any of the female characters. Even funnier when it's with Mika and Ken is swapped into Nadeshiko.
  • After most remaining information about the game leaked (Dhalsim, F.A.N.G., the release date, and the first six DLC characters), Ono wanted to reveal something new to people during his appearance at Paris Games Week. He announced that the final character is actually Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada.
  • In the background of the Hillside Plaza stage, there are three attractive women dancing in carnival outfits as they watch the fight. However, dancing along with them is a much more average looking middle-aged woman in a t-shirt and ripped jeans, most likely a tourist.
  • In the full intro trailer, there is a shot of Bison rising into the air, bathed in Psycho Power, while F.A.N.G watches in awe from below. A split second later, Fang is hit in the head by what appears to be a handheld gaming device, thrown by Rashid.
  • Defeating anyone with the Critical Arts of Birdie, Zangief, or Alex will result in their legs sticking out of the ground afterwards.
  • Birdie defecting from Shadaloo because F.A.N.G. tried to make him wear a hat. Now that he's been hired by Karin, he's become the story's comic relief.
  • Rashid's reaction to meeting and fighting both Zangief and R. Mika in story mode. Rather than most world-class fighters, he reacts exactly how a normal person would.
  • A closer look at Rashid's text messages during his story mode reveals that all the characters' butlers are not only in close contact with each other, but even have a Butler's Association. Azam's username is "Mr. Muscle Butler."
    • Abel is one of the possible names that can show up, and his username is...Abel. He's the only one there that didn't come up with something a little more creative.
    • One of the names that can show up there is Dan celebrating over finally paying his Phone Bill to his Dojo
  • The background of the Lair of the Four Kings stage has what seems to be one of Karin's ninjas being chased by a Shadaloo robot. After they go offscreen, they'll come back, and now the robot is running away from the ninja. And this silliness is taking place in M. Bison's lair of all places. For extra funny if you knock down your opponent, the two would trip too.
  • The mere idea that there's a Cracked-like "The Seven Yoga Masters In The World You Gotta Meet Once" list on the net and that Rashid found out about Dhalsim through it is hilarious.
    • And then Capcom went ahead and made profiles for the six others.
  • Laura's "Bonita" alternate costume, which isn't acknowledged by any of the characters during her Story Mode, gets a comment from Dan Hibiki in the in-game shop, though he went with a more practical direction in his astonishment than what you'd expect. (He has a similar comment about Cammy's Story Mode jacket alternate costume, which leaves her legs bare, so maybe he just hates the thought of being cold.)
Dan's Summary (on Laura's Alternate Costume): She said she wears this outfit when she's just out and about, but then I heard she went over to Russia dressed like this. Wouldn't you catch a cold, or uh, freeze to death or something?
    • The mere fact that Dan Hibiki is the one to write the descriptions in the shop is funny.
  • Alex's Story Mode has him kidnapped by F.A.N.G, and he's forced to fight holographic projections of other fighters. After beating Dan Hibiki with one attack, he's then forced to fight E. Honda riding on Hakan's back. F.A.N.G gets to learn the hard way that his simulation runs on Conservation of Ninjutsu.
  • The cinematic story, "A Shadow Falls", begins with Nash in a dark void, faced with only one thing...a sheep with silly looking bangs, who then says "Devour." Obviously it's really Necalli, but the fact that Necalli introduced himself to Nash in the form of a sheep comes across as unintentionally funny.
  • After Shadaloo's EMP blast knocks out power for part of the globe, it cuts to Sean, playing online on a portable game console, as he is kicked from the server, causing him to yell out in anger that the servers are down.
  • M. Bison makes a reference to one of his more memetic quotes.
    M. Bison: My generals are all killing each other? This is delicious entertainment!
    • To be perfectly clear that this is no coincidence, Gerald C. Rivers enunciated the line the exact same way as in the cartoon.
  • Many of the Dolls are fought in the General Story, each of them a Moveset Clone of Cammy with a few unique twists. Satsuki has a sword, Santamu can throw spears...and März hits you in the head with a laptop.
    • Don't forget Enero, who pulls out a megaphone and shouts at you.
  • One of the story mode NPC fighters is a ridiculously weak police officer named Peter. And he's voiced by Peter "Combofiend" Rosas. The sheer ridiculousness of the encounter between him and Cammy propelled Peter to become something of an Ensemble Dark Horse.
  • Even though the story reveals just how much of a monster he is, it's hard not to giggle at F.A.N.G's more ridiculous antics, which include his random dancing around and singing to himself whenever something is going his way, and the loud shrieks he makes whenever something goes wrong with his plan.
  • Rashid has the poor timing to introduce himself just as Guile's group is seeing Nash for the first time, and has a pretty cartoonish reaction to not being noticed (though it kinda makes him come off as an Attention Whore). Later, when he learns that Nash is also working for Helen...
Rashid: Ah, now I understand. You were also receiving similar information.
Nash: ... *looks off to the side*
Rashid: *offscreen, frustrated* Why do they keep ignoring me?!
  • During the story mode, Ibuki and R. Mika argue like children about everything - especially when the topic of Zangief comes up. Mika, of course, gushes incessantly about how he's the most badass person ever. Ibuki always counters that she's being ridiculous and that he's not that great... that is, until he blocks a sword with nothing but sheer pec muscle.
Ibuki (gaping between Gief and the broken sword like she can't believe what she's seeing): "WHAAAAAAT?!"
  • Ibuki and Birdie are hilarious in general in the story mode, because neither of the seem to actually want to be there and thus have to be dragged kicking and screaming into the increasingly insane situation. Ibuki in particular seems to have been completely unaware of the circus she signed up for when she went to work for Karin, and she spends a lot of time hilariously freaking out at the incredible things everyone is doing.
    • At one point, the team sets off to storm Shadoloo's base via everyone doing a badass leap out of a moving helicopter - without parachutes, naturally. Ibuki and Birdie decide this is a step too insane for them and try to nope out of the mission, only to be shoved out the helicopter by Dhalsim, who proceeded to cheat on the 'jumping off the ship like the rest' thing by Yoga Teleporting from the sky.
  • Enero and Karin trying to intimidate each other via Noblewoman's Laugh. For added hilarity, Ken is watching the whole thing and has an amazing "what the hell is going on here?" reaction.
  • In Akuma's story mode, when Akuma rips Necalli apart, the subtiles that usually say the character's dialogue is changed to, for Necalli, "Sound of suffering from pain (as if he is throwing up, continuously)".
    • For that matter, the QUALITY images accompanying Necalli vs. Akuma. Aside from portions where both Necalli and Akuma are drawn with Black Bead Eyes, we also have gems like Necalli devouring Akuma, wearing the most ridiculous Slasher Smile ever and with a Balloon Belly, making it appear as though he's pregnant. The very next scene, in which the aforementioned subtitles appear, has Necalli sporting a completely ridiculous, priceless facial expression that just screams "Oh, Crap!".
  • During Ryu's story, Rashid approaches him and asks to fight. Ryu hesitates on the challenge, leaving Rashid confused and leading Gouken to comment on the situation.
Gouken: "The answer lies, in the heart of battle." Did you somehow forget? You say that all the time.
  • In Abigail's story mode, he goes rampaging through the city, distraught over his missing monster truck. He makes random engine noises and blubbers unintelligibly, which results in various other characters misinterpreting his remarks and fighting him. In the end, his cohorts return with his truck and remind him that he let them borrow it to go shopping. He slams them against his truck and walks away.
  • In Ed's Story Mode, Menat seemed to be a quiet Mysterious Waif. In hers she shows a quite more upbeat personality, at times borderlining on adorkable; it especially shows in her attempts to mimic Rose's mannerisms and voices and the faces she makes at everything.
    • How about the fact that she's trying to give a warning to M. Bison of all people?! She even gives an adorable pouty face after having to trounce Shadaloo operatives and finally giving them the warning.
    • If you score a perfect in a round that isn't the final round, Menat will perform a special victory animation that has her posing like before...only for her crystal ball to hit her head. (Japanese version here)
Menat: "So ends the lesson", she'd say... ow!
  • Balrog's Street Fighter I arcade mode ending. He defeats Sagat in the first World Warrior Tournament. A crowd of reporters and judges run up to him...only to run straight past him and start congratulating Mike on his victory. Then he wakes up.
    • This ending also reveals that Balrog wears his boxing gloves in bed.
  • Karin's Street Fighter Alpha arcade mode ending. Instead of fighting Bison, she vaporizes him with a Kill Sat, doing her trademark Noblewoman's Laugh as the Shadaloo base explodes behind her.
  • Alex's Street Fighter V arcade mode ending. He's happy to fight and work, but expecting him to eat his vegetables is asking too much.
  • Both of Abigail's arcade mode endings. In his Street Fighter I ending, he defeats Cody, leading to Cody being tied to a chair with a stick of dynamite, referencing the original Final Fight game over screen. In his Street Fighter V ending, he gets overwhelmed by increasingly ridiculous customer demands at work, eventually destroying his desk, phone and computer in a rage.
  • Zeku's Street Fighter V arcade mode ending, in which he recruits Karin, Ibuki, Birdie and Karin's butler Shibasaki to join the Striders. Karin and Shibasaki really get into it, but Ibuki and Birdie are more reluctant. For bonus points, Birdie's much fatter than the others and he's not exactly Acrofatic either, so he's not going to be any good at stealth.
  • In Blanka's trailer, they do the usual thing of showing what the characters' alternate costumes are. Blankas' 'story' costume appears to be a giant plushie or mascot costume...of himself, complete with bulging eyes and a goofy triangle-teeth grin.
    • His Story Mode itself is just as funny as the costume, mostly due to the entire thing being a meta reference to Blanka's status within the fandom. Blanka is shown trying to sell plush toys of himself, but he ended up making too many of them and no one will buy them. Laura and Sean come up with a plan to sell the Blanka-Chan dolls in Japan. He ends up at the arcade where Sakura works, but when a couple of schoolgirls comment on the dolls in the crane machine being cute, he criticizes them and ends up shaking the machine so hard that the glass breaks. This leads to a fight with Sakura, but then Sakura has an idea to put the dolls inside of the crane game. The ending narrative implies that the doll does end up becoming liked, but with a select few people, mirroring how Blanka himself is divisive among the series' player base.
  • Blanka's Street Fighter V ending. He gets overexcited watching his favourite TV show, and ends up shocking Sakura.
  • Sakura's Story Mode ending has a hilarious incident, as Sakura begins pondering her own plans for the future, knowing she needs to settle down and have a family, while suggesting Ryu settle down himself and begin the next generation... only to stop as she realises what she's suggesting and to who, complete with Luminescent Blush.
  • Cody's Story costume has him wearing Mike Haggar's pants. No, not a downsized lookalike. The actual pants. Naturally, since Cody is several sizes too small to fit in it properly, the pants end up sagging and revealing the top of his underwear. Also, on his boxers is a picture of Holstein, a cartoon cow that appears as an item in several Capcom games, most notably 1943: The Battle of Midway.
    • Cody's story in general. He is definitely out of his element when it comes to being the new mayor of Metro City, and it shows. His assistant Marlowe practically has to follow him around everywhere like a babysitter and is totally confused as to why he's going around fighting random people like Abigail and Zeku.
  • One of the special costumes earned through Fighting Chance is Street Fighter I Sagat, which actually changes his win quote to the classic lose quote used in the original game, and it's even written in all-caps.
Sagat: YOU'VE GOT A LOT TO LEARN BEFORE YOU BEAT ME. TRY AGAIN, KIDDO!
  • Vega's battle quote against Guile comments on how ridiculous his haircut is.
  • In G's Story Mode, Rashid is very enthusiastic on helping G get more views for his livestream all while Azam has a look stating "This is going to end badly." After Rashid's fight is over, there's now a scene of G and Rashid shaking hands, and the look on Rashid's face is all you need to know on how painful it is.
    • In the same vein, Menat looks absolutely embarrassed (and in fact the same pose she's doing while she's stating this is also shown on her crystal ball) all while she asks her master to avenge her.
  • Setting G's voice to Japanese results in some hilarious Gratuitous English, since every time he says "Earth", it sounds more like "Ass".
    "ONE ASS!"
    "POWAH TO ZE ASS!"
  • Dan's comments on characters' outfits and stages in the shop tend to be funny on average.
    M. Bison (Battle Outfit): This is said to be one of Shadaloo's ceremonial uniforms, which I think makes sense. I mean, those shoulder pads kinda shout 'evil organization focused on world domination'.
Necalli (Battle Outfit): I heard Necalli isn't human, but if he isn't, where did he get those pants from? Do you think he paints his face or does it change according to his mood? Everything about him is a mystery...
Ibuki (Swimwear): Shouldn't ninjas use camouflage? Ibuki will never sneak up on anyone wearing that thing... Ouch! Did she just throw a kunai at me?! OK, I take that back. Aaah! Stop throwing that ninja crap at me!
  • Guile's Halloween 2018 outfit has him dressed up as a zombie. The realistic looking rotting skin (and lack of top with the costume code) makes him look much worse than Charlie Nash in his default outfit. Of course, costumes don't alter win quotes in any way, leading to situations like these.
  • Two of Balrog's Arcade endings canonize Bison Dollars from the movie, complete with Raúl Juliá's head on them.
  • Kage's story can best be described as Ryu's Shadow trying to get people to accept his existence as a strong entity to be feared. Naturally, nobody takes him seriously. Not Sagat, not Akuma, and especially not Ryu, the person he's based on. Ryu acknowledges him as a separate entity but ignores his posturing and tells him to do as he pleases. Having denied his own shadow, it has a Critical Existence Failure and disappears forever. For bonus points, his English voice actor previously played a character in Persona 4 who also denied his own shadow, except this time the dynamic between the character and his shadow self is reversed.
  • For the Cyberbots crossover costume DLC, Ryu was given a Jin Saotome costume, fair enough... but, the costume has a hidden Easter Egg version using the usual three-button code that puts Ryu in nothing but a fundoshi. This costume variation has been used as the main form of costume-based Trolling in online play, alongside Blanka-chan, including one notable occasion against Daigo Umehara, of all people.
  • Edmund Honda's storyline is about the re-opening of his bath-house and he takes the rules very seriously always bursting in with him screaming, "HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!". Laura tries to splash? He tells her to tie her hair up. Rashid wants to dry himself by summoning a tornado? He tells him that making tornadoes in the changing room isn't allowed. Ryu deciding to emulate meditating under a waterfall in the shower? Dunks him into a pool of water stating that he should relax.
    • The ending scene of the storyline has many of the ladies having a relaxing time. One of them being Juri Han.
  • Poison's story mode has her confront Abigail and Roxy with Roxy stating that Abigail is now capable of smiling like a 'businessman'. Cue the smile.
  • Seth's reveal garnered little surprise and much annoyance from the fanbase...until The Reveal that Seth is now inhabiting a new, female robot body. Confusion and jokes did indeed ensue.
  • During the Summer Update 2020 stream, after Kenny Omega gave his clues for the second fighter of Season V to the audience, he prepared to dramatically spin his chair towards the background object related to them...only for him to bump into his desk and have trouble moving around.
  • What is Akira's Special in the game? Calling her brother Daigo to descend from the sky! He then walks off with her waving good-bye.
  • Some of Luke's win quotes are comedy gold.
(VS F.A.N.G.) A poison debuff? Are you like a mid-level boss or something?
(VS Gill) You probably get this question all the time, but I did beat you, so... What's your real body color?
(VS Ibuki) Frickin' ninjas kids messing 'round with bombs...
(VS M. Bison/Dictator) Hoo yeah! I took out the Final Boss!
(VS Vega/Claw) Kinda cringe to go on about beauty during a fight, dude...
(VS Falke) Going by the look on your face, I get the feeling you don't like me.
(Falke's response if she wins) It's not that I don't like you; it's just that I don't care.
