  • Data's struggle to adjust to his emotions is good for a few laughs; he attributes this issue to him experiencing an accelerated emotional development, with the result that during The Return he is essentially in the middle of an adolescent emotional period.
  • Data's experiments in how to react to frustration. Cue the Cluster F-Bomb...
  • Also from The Return, Spock and Data are researching their way through the TOS Rogues Gallery to see who might still be around causing trouble in the 24th century. After eliminating Klingon after Klingon after Klingon, next on the list is a certain Augmented tyrant:
Data: But sir, Khan Noonien Singh is dead.
Spock: (with just the barest hint of a smug smile) Yes, I know.
  • In Avenger, Kirk decides to reprogram an EMH to simulate McCoy, only for McCoy himself to turn up in the flesh moments later. He's less than amused. It's doubly funny when you consider a certain exchange between Spock and McCoy in the TV series.
    • In the aforementioned scene, Data, escorting McCoy, gets a one-liner in about having bought "the real McCoy". McCoy is completely gobsmacked at hearing Data make a joke.
    • Following this scene, Data naturally assumes that he will be transporting McCoy by shuttlecraft after Kirk and Spock beam out. He's rather bemused when McCoy objects as vehemently to this as he did to the suggestion of a transporter back in Encounter at Farpoint.
