  • Beddoes' recollection of his night in the same compartment as Mr. Foscarelli. Foscarelli asked what he was reading, and Beddoes said the book was called "Love's Captive".
    Foscarelli: Is it about sex?
Beddoes: No, sir, it's about 10:30.
  • Mrs. Hubbard claims that a man entered her cabin in the middle of the night, but she couldn't see him because it was so dark, which leads to this exchange:
Bianchi: Then how do you know it was a man?
Mrs. Hubbard: Because I enjoyed very warm relations with both my husbands.
    Bianchi: With your eyes closed?
    Mrs. Hubbard: That helped.
    • After this Mrs. Hubbard claims the man could only have been there to murder Ratchett, the Princess Dragomiroff, who has been quiet the whole time silences her with this simple line:
Princess Dragomiroff: I can think of no other reason.
