    Chapter 1

  • After the introduction, Neil notices the door is locked and while he is guessing how to unlock it in a very Genre Savvy way, Luna quietly walks away offscreen. Then there’s the sound of shattering glass. Neil worriedly runs to where it came from, only to find out Luna who is giggling happily next to the broken window.
    • This comebacks after you have cleared the first building, and is talking with Neil on the train: there’s a new rule from the train itself, that those who breaks any part of the train will be punished.
Neil: "I think the train is mad at you for breaking the window earlier."
  • Being a gentleman he is, Neil reassures Luna in the complete darkness that he is here by her side. Luna quickly points out that Neil is shaking.
  • When Luna is examining the door in the hall, she hears Neil’s scream and sees him being cornered by an eye. Now Neil, a full-fledged 20-year-old man, being scared off his mind by an eye is funny on its own, but Luna’s solution? She simply jumps on it. And smashes it.
  • After receiving the pocket watch, in the next room, Neil will wonder if all of these are just a nightmare when he is sleeping on the train...and Luna pinches his cheek.
Neil: "Oh, I got it... Goodbye to my dream theory."
  • We have never had such an impulsive protagonist like Luna before. First, she tried to break a door with password when Neil complained they didn’t have time for stuff like that, and then several moments later, when they encountered a locked closet, an instant after his own complaint, Neil has to stop Luna from actually breaking it.
    • Much later in game, Luna has to go on alone for a moment to find a way to free Neil, who is trapped. She discovers a box locked with password. Without Neil supporting or restraining her, Luna finally goes all out by picking up a pipe and beating the ever living sheet out of it. Then she giggles pleasantly.
  • Diana left you a hammer and a note that said “this place is a bit dangerous”. Neil’s reaction helps lift the solemn mood earlier.
Neil: "”A bit dangerous”? We almost died a few times already..."
    • Even more hilarious if you actually died a few times before reaching this scene. Or you immediately die once the skull-smashing game starts. Or both.
  • After the duo escaped from the skulls, they find Diana who will comment on how palid they look and offer them to use her medicine, which 30% will occur side effects such as abnormal heartbeat, inflammation of the pancreas, decrease in body temperature, and hair loss. Neil immediately refuses, completely freaked out.
  • Diana notices the way Neil talks makes him sound like a detective, which Neil gladly approves. But once Diana asks him if he has solved any case, Neil just embarrassingly bows down like a big brother having to admit with his sister he’s a loser: "No, not yet..."
  • When examining Diana’s workspace, Neil will note that it’s messy, upsetting Diana. He then tries to comfort her by asking her to tell him more about her research and experiments, only to make her burst into tears and say she doesn’t want to talk about it with a detective, as some of them weren’t very ethical...
    Neil: "W-What did you do?"
Diana, visibly scared: "Uaaah! S-sorry...! I-I won’t do it again..."
    • And then Neil’s awkward attempt to comfort her by begging her not to cry.
  • Neil’s way to announce Luna that he is in trouble? Scream as loud as humanly possible.
  • The scene Luna jumps into Diana to take the medicine by force while she’s still trying to smooth-talk her is somehow, pretty hilarious. You know Luna is angry at this point, and when she fails to take the medicine, Luna runs into the nearest room with a visible angry mark on her head. It surely takes her a lot to not beat the shit out of Diana like she did with the box earlier.
  • Diana used a big skull like a doorstop for said room, in a likely attempt to make Luna stuck in there. Luna walks out, notices the skull, stares at it with a deadpan “Are you serious” look, and casually pushes it aside. The description of the skull itself also worth a chuckle.
  • Neil is clearly in no condition to cross the spiked floor unharmed by himself, so Luna thinks of something else to help both of them cross it. She carries him. And not just any type of carry, the good ol’ Bridal Carry. Now imagine a girl carrying a man near 20cm taller than her in her arms, heroically goes through all the traps while said man is sweating and blushing heavily; oh isn’t it a sight to behold.
  • When you play as Neil to control a transporting machine to bring Luna to the other side, after he declared he will not let her get hurt even if it costs his life, it’s entirely possible for her to die right in the next moment, especially if you aren’t used to the control yet.
  • It’s minor, but when you say goodbye to Diana to go on the train with Neil, Luna still carries Neil the princess way.
  • The moment Neil finished gushing about how great it is to finally escape and wonders when they will arrive in Bluebell, the train stops. The duo goes outside only to find out it’s still dark, and realize that after everything they have gone through, it’s only the beginning. Tempting Fate, Neil.

    Chapter 2

  • Right after the introduction, Apollo asks Neil why he looks so serious and if he is suspicious in Neil’s eyes. Oh, Apollo, you don’t know how Neil was near-death earlier because he trusted a little girl, let alone an intimidating man dressed like a hobo like you.
  • After giving Neil the possibility of people having different time limits, Apollo snarks at his capability as a detective. Poor Neil asking Apollo if he wants to destroy his self-esteem, while Luna is angry and glances at him.
Apollo: "If looks could kill, I would already be dead."
  • Neil proves himself to be quite a snarker as well, if this is any indication:
Neil: "This place is very dangerous and there’re weirdos around."
Apollo: "Don’t look at me while you’s saying that"
  • Apollo boasts about how he went through all the locked door without a key to Luna. Luna, being herself, doesn’t give a flying duck and instead concentrate on kicking the door open, which, after the fourth kick, she succeeds. Seeing Apollo be left speechless is quite entertaining, especially after all of his snarky teasy moments.
  • All of Neil’s moving speeches about how they have to part way and will meet each other on the train suddenly turns comical once you kick the door open, enter the next room and notice him standing right there.
  • Neil specifically emphasizes how dangerous it would be to cross the spiked path and forbids Luna to come near it, yet the moment he turns around, Luna crosses it anyway - she doesn’t give a flying duck. Poor Neil, being Luna’s partner would have shortened his life.
    • The face Luna makes when she loses her balance is quite funny.
  • At first, Neil doesn’t understand why Luna looks so surprised after he saved her. It took one Beat for him to eventually realize that he has just saved her.
  • Luna, who up to then is fearless of anything, even going through a path of spikes without hesitation just so they would save time, is scared of math. Truly, Everybody Hates Math.
  • After witnessing Neil‘s heroic action earlier, Apollo mentioned someone named Celes. And then later, we find out that Celes is not human like many people assumed earlier, but a bird. A bird. Neil’s reaction alone is priceless, first he said he didn’t expect Apollo to be friends with a bird, then there’s this snark-to-snark combat.
Neil: "Actually, I didn’t really expect you to be friends with anyone at all..."
Apollo, annoyed: "I didn’t expect you to get here alive, but here you are."
  • Neil gets overwhelmed by a bird. A.freaking.bird.
    • One moment later, Apollo attempts the same trick again. Not letting him finish the sentence, Neil hastily stops him in fright.
  • When you enter the room with multiple eyeballs paintings, there is a big red button with two black arrows pointing to it. Surely nothing bad will happen if we step on it, right?
  • Neil suggests that since they’re now a team. Apollo should call the duo by names. Apollo...doesn’t remember their names. After introducing themselves again, Neil realizes Apollo did it on purpose since he still calls him ‘detective’ in his response.
  • Apollo tells Neil to examine a suspicious hole...in which there’s a huge spider. Obviously, Neil is freaked out to the point of anger, and when questioned, Apollo simply says it was a joke to mess around with the guy. Even Luna laughs at the situation.
  • When the trio needs to jump on the bookcases to enter the library, Neil gets scared and reluctant. Apollo’s joking threats doesn’t help at all, then he even suggests to carry Neil in his arm. Neil immediately refuses.
    • Once Neil successes landing on the bookcase, Apollo is quick to try to offer him a headpat.
Apollo: "Do you want me to give you a pat on the head?"
    Neil: "I’m not a dog!"

    Chapter 3
  • Selene proudly announces herself as a thief in front of Neil’s face, a detective apprentice’s face. She even lampshades later in her conversation with Luna that if they had met earlier, they would have been rivals.
  • It easy to prove that Selene is Apollo’s friend; right in the first minute after their encounter, she already teases Neil by telling him that Luna thinks he is adorable. Of course, it was a joke.
Neil: "Don’t play with my feelings like that!"
  • The moments they go together, Selene incites Neil to eat some suspicious blue mushrooms on the ground to see if his skin will turn blue as well. Neil tells her if she is curious that much, she should try that herself. Selene actually attempts to pick the mushrooms up, only for Neil to immediately stop and scold her.
  • When you take the amethyst from the purple teddy bear, Selene will say that she didn’t expect a detective like Neil to also like stealing. He claims that he didn’t steal, he is just borrowing it...without permission.
  • After pushing the rock down the hall to crush an eyeball awaiting there, Selene remarks that it was fun. Neil has a smile that would be equal to a facepalm.
Neil: "I think we have very different definitions of the word "fun"."
  • You have gone through a moment of pity and doubt for Selene, and now is stepping into the next room hoping Selene won’t pull a Face–Heel Turn. Then the room suddenly announces that you have 15 minutes to defuse a bomb. Yes, without a second to rearrange your thoughts, the game just throws a freaking bomb in your face like that. Some players would laugh it off and say "damn you game" as they’re running with time.
  • Neil mistakes Selene’s artworks for some abstract paintings. When she asks him if he cannot recognize Luna and Apollo because they have grown up, he tells her her artworks are terrible.

    Chapter 4
  • Cynthia needs something to distract her Black Gear comrades so that Luna could escape and ends up crashing a wine bottle to do so. Even in the danger of the situation they're in, Cynthia is more worried about how Justice II will be pissed they broke his wine.
  • Apollo asks Diana why she covers her face with bangs, to which she answers she does it because she's shy. So he offers to teach her to intimidate people so she won't be afraid anymore. Neil is not amused, not wanting Diana to become a delinquent like Apollo and Selene.
  • When Selene is released from the Midnight Express, she's shocked to see Apollo....only to convince herself it's all a dream and even joke with the "fake Apollo". Apollo has to pull her by the ears to prove that yes, he's the real thing.
  • Selene congratulates Luna for saving everyone from the Midnight Express and shrugs off Neil saying that he "just helped". Funny, considering he played the biggest part in stopping the curse of the train.
  • Even after everyone has been saved from the Midnight Express, Apollo and Selene still take shots at poor Neil. They even try to encourage Diana to join the "teasing Neil party".
