  • Roughly 90% of the first game is this, but it's easily topped off by Zarok's first two attempts to go One-Winged Angel:
Where is that spell... ah, yes! *POOF!* Awwwk-bok-bok-bok-bok!... no Not that spell...
*POOF!* *sheep bleats* Ohh! ...Oh, not right now!
  • The cutscene after escaping Peregrine's Castle. Dan's scream is priceless.
  • Zarok's book includes powerful magical tomes, how to look good in your 400s, and card tricks!
  • Also, Zarok's reaction after Dan manages to defeat his champion: "...Bugger."
  • Lots of stuff said by the characters in the Hall Of Heroes too.
Woden The Mighty: Fortesque, you jawless arrow-magnet! What are you doing back here?!
    • The greatest of all though is probably Sturnguard, a ham to end all hams.
Karl Sturnguard: People say to me ‘Sturnguard, what do you think of that sword or that axe’ but I say to them ‘NEIN!’ (Dan flinches In surprise) ‘Modern warfare is a question of science, the science of shields!’
    • Followed by him getting so passionate about the subject that he almost slips into Angrish.
Karl Sturnguard: Some say it is better to have a Magic Sword than a Magic Shield, but I say to you that ZIS IS RUBBISH!
  • The Dragon's pre-fight Boss Banter, where he threatens to burn the flesh from your bones...only to realize that Dan's already a skeleton. Then he threatens to pluck out both his eyes...only to realize he's only got one. Finally, he just settles on saying he's going to beat the crap out of him.
  • Bloodmonath Skull Cleaver, one of the more Ax-Crazy residents of the Hall of Heroes. According to a book in the Sleeping Village library, he died after trying to take on an entire fortress single-handedly. His weapon? The spike on his helmet.
  • The Ghost Pirate Captain's pirate talk at the beginning of the Ghost Ship level.
Captain: I want that scurvy dog dangling from yon yardam by his bowelllllls.
  • The 2019 remake adds some hilarious fluff text to Dan's inventory.
Copper Shield: Less protective plate, more dinner plate.
Magic Sword: Wielded by countless heroes. And you.
Dan's Helmet: Weak against arrows. And everything else.
  • The Chicken Drumstick weapon is hilarious to use. When thrown, it can turn any non-boss enemy into a Roast Chicken (with a goofy *ding!* sound effect in the original or chicken clucking in the PS4 remaster). Sir Dan can then eat the chicken to recover health despite him not having a jaw, or any digestive organs!
  • When you finally manage to meet King Peregrine, he starts with an epic speech on how Dan must defeat Zarok, and then looks and...
King: My God, Fortesque, what happened to your jaw?
    Dan: (sobbing) It fell off!
    King: Bad luck, old man.
  • The Playstation 4 remake introduces the Book of Gallowmere, which contains information on every character and enemy in the game. Some of the entries are downright hilarious:
Zombies: These guys were fashionably undead before it was fashionable to BE undead.
Boulder Gargoyles: These guardian gargoyles are not much for conversation. And don't ask to hear their singing voice. Unless you're into rock and roll. Ba-dumm, tiss.
Bats: They're vampire bats. Actually they're just bats, but they bite. That's sort of vampirey.
Pirate Officers: The Pirate Captain's right hand men. Despite their lack of right hands.
Flying Eyeballs: Exactly what use is a flying eyeball without a flying brain? And without a flying mouth, how can it possibly report what it has seen? I suppose that must be why they simply try to incinerate you instead.
  • Something else the remake adds are various sidequests where you help lost souls rest. Some of the requests the souls want result in some hilarity.
    • Hopper the Legless challenges Dan to a race. Once you activate his soul you find out he is an incredibly fat knight who waddles along at a snail's pace, making him extremely easy to beat. After you win the race, he congratulates Dan and remarks he beat Hopper's record of 31 hours and 27 minutes.
    • Nautical Nachbaur asks Dan to protect the Elephant Dragons in the lake from rats. Once you get there, you find a new boss: Rat King Derok. He has 9,999 HP and the music changes to an intense confrontational theme... Then you kill Derok in one hit with your club or hammer.
