• Malcolm getting his first conk. The chemicals used to straighten hair apparently burn like hell and has Malcolm scrambling to wash it out as the whole barbershop has a laugh.
• Malcolm and Shorty's zoot suits and that particular walk cycle they do with them on.
• When Malcolm and his coworkers are chastised for listening to a boxing match on the job, Malcolm "accidentally" calls his boss "Mr. Charlie" instead of his actual name, "Mr. Cooper". Then, when a white patron derogatorily calls him "boy", he imagines smushing a lemon pie in his face.
• West Indian Archie and his goons mock Malcolm's loud, obnoxious zoot suit and upon hiring him, quickly suggest something more sensible.
  Sammy: Where'd you get them goddamn vines you got on?
  Cadillac: And those shoes? Oh my...
  Archie: Well, maybe we can do something about that.
  Sammy: Yeah, but he's puttin' a hurtin' on my vision, man! Damn...
• When Archie visits Malcolm at the Billie Holiday show and makes it clear he wants to kill him, Malcolm tries to light a cigarette first, a little ritual he and Archie shared up to this point.. only for the lighter to fail. Cue a hilarious Oh, Crap! face from Malcolm.
  Malcolm: So this is how I'm goin' out, huh, Archie? In a toedown?
  Archie: Toedown, yes. Let's go.
  Malcolm: Why don't we let Billie finish first?
  Archie: No.
  • Also Malcolm shoving a poor waitress out of the way when he walks with Archie as instructed and sees an opportunity to escape.
• When Malcolm plays the False Roulette game with Rudy, he aims for Rudy's nose, of all things.
  Malcolm: Maybe we shoot that little wop nose of yours off? Or is that the nigga side? Is that the wop side or the nigga side, huh? Is that wop or nigga? (Rudy doesn't respond) Yeah, I guess that's the wop side.
• Later, Shorty tries to conk up Malcolm's hair again, and when it inevitably starts to sting, they find out that the water is cut off, and there's no other water on hand. Malcolm slams the fridge door shut in frustration and frantically looks for water in the bathroom, until he's forced to cool his head off with toilet water. It's clean, but still. As if it couldn't get any more humiliating..
  Policeman: Hey, nigger! Take your head outta the shitbowl!
