Funny / Major Grom: Plague Doctor

• Dima Dubin being led by the holding cells (currently occupied by petty criminals and the bank truck thieves).
  Officer: (gestures to cell) Look at this piece of trash.
  Dubin: You shouldn't say that. Did you know that statistically, one out of every five people in detention is there by mistake?
  [Crazy Truck Thief shoves himself against the bars]
  Crazy: I'M here by mistake, Four-Eyes! YEAH! AHAHAHAHA!
  Guy In the Next Cell: What a moron.
  Cellmate: You're a moron.
  Guy: (cracks neck threateningly) What?
  Cellmate: Fucking moron!
  [They start to fight.]
• The officers of St. Petersburg don't take Grom's report of a person in a bird mask very seriously.
  [A bunch of officers are crowded around a "sketch" of a suspect.]
  Officer #1: (hands off paper) Okay, Kostyan; I think this matches the description.
  Kostyan: Yeah, Igor, we had an extremely dangerous suspect in one of our cases. and... (holds up a picture of a Toucan) Please tell me, is this the person you saw?
• When Yulia first sees Grom's apartment:
  Yulia: You don't have guests often, do you?
  Grom: Why?
  Yulia: Your bathroom doesn't have a door.
  Grom: (glances over, as if noticing for the first time) Oh. Right.
  • After Yulia leaves Grom's apartment, her associates threaten to assault her as "payment" for the damage caused by Grom's beating. Yulia simply sprays them in the face with pepper spray and saunters off.
• Dubin and Grom walking on the beach. Dubin is holding the umbrella over Grom's head as they walk, while rambling excitedly non-stop about their assigned case, which involves stolen refrigerators. When he finally stops, he looks up and finds Grom standing several yards behind him, scowling.
• Grom takes Dubin to the slums to search for leads in the Plague Doctor case. As soon as they set foot in the neighborhood, Grom walks through with no trouble at all, while everyone is staring at Dubin.
  • When visiting Ignat Booster (who, among other things, operates a seedy-looking boxing ring), Grom shuts the man's office door in Dubin's face (literally). Dubin turns around to find every thug and boxer in the place standing there, staring at him.
    Dubin: (clears throat awkwardly, straightens up) What do you know about the disappearance of twelve refrigerators?
    • Even better? Grom had warned Dubin, above all else, not to tell anyone that he's with the police. In the five minutes Grom is away, Dubin not only tells everyone that he's a cop, but begins sketching portraits of the men.
    • This actually pays off at the end, when the thugs from the gym help the citizens stand off against the Plague Doctor's followers.
  • Before they leave, Booster gives Igor a list of potential leads. He warns him not to rough them up, because they're "good people". Cut to a montage of Grom kicking in doors and roughing up the leads.
    • One of whom is cooking crystal meth, and accidentally sets himself on fire after Grom bursts in. Several seconds later, he's still stumbling around on fire, so Igor directs Dubin to a fire extinguisher.
    • In another scene, Grom tries to kick down the door of a biker bar, and finds that he can only break through the bottom half.
      Grom: Piece of shit door... (peers through hole) Hey girls! I need information! (glass flies at his head)
    • Another lead is located at a brothel/BDSM den. Grom ties the man to a bed himself, and threatens him with the dominatrix's riding crop.
• For his Black-Tie Infiltration, Grom has to borrow a tuxedo from Ignat Booster. Booster also hands him a dubiously acquired invite (for which he claims he had to relax in a sauna with members of parliament), and loans him a brand new, top-of-the-line sports car — which, as Grom points out, just so happens to match the description of a car that was stolen the week before.
  • When Grom pulls up to the casino grand opening, the valet asks for the keys; Grom hands him a plastic grocery bag holding his civilian clothes, and asks him to guard it (with a warning not to touch the hat).
    Casino Guest: Hey, nice car. I had one like this. It got stolen last week.
    Grom: (handing him the keys) Case closed, then.
• At Razumovsky's arrest, Yulia takes a selfie with the rest of Igor and the rest of their new "pack" (including Dima and Fedor). Dima, who is positively giddy, imitates the two-finger "Together" logo...until Igor gives him an annoyed look, prompting him to quickly put his hand down.
