Funny / Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior

Go To

  • Max drives a truck through a raider encampment, and destroys a tent with two raiders screwing inside. The look on the chick's face is priceless.
  • "Empty, all this time! That's dishonest! Low."
  • The small grin Max gives when he notes the dog looking at the rabbit while "guarding" the Gyro Captain. The Captain freaks, while Max just smiles. Max knows the gun is unloaded and won't go off regardless of Dog's actions.
  • The scene where Max eats a can of Dinki-Di dog food. The dog takes notice and patiently, but excitedly, waits until Max has his fill before taking his share. When the Gyro Captain tries to have a bite, the dog barks and snarls at him: in the end, the Gyro Captain is left with only what scraps remain in the tin.
  • "It's my snake; I trained it; I'm going to eat it!"
  • Max is using binoculars to watch the marauders attack the refinery scouts when the Gyro Captain pulls out a fancy spyglass to do the same. Max has a Double Take as he realizes how much better the spyglass is, then snatches it from the Gyro Captain and hands him the binoculars.
  • During the parley Toady hits one of the prisoners, who's shouting at Papagallo's tribe to "give them nothing!", rendering him dazed or unconscious in front of everyone. Then he seemingly remembers the Humungous is trying to lure the refinery settlers into a false sense of security and starts caringly stroking the prisoner's head.
  • When Wez hurls the steel boomerang at the Feral Kid, it misses and goes spinning around in the air. Toady excitedly yells "I've got it, I've got it!" and reaches up to catch it, encouraged by the rest of Humungus' warriors. Naturally the steel boomerang slices his fingers off, leaving Humungus' gang falling about themselves laughing.
    • To top it off, Humungus' reaction is to tell his crew to quiet down. "No more games! We're here for a purpose."
  • The refinery settlers handcuff Max while they listen to Lord Humungus's offer (having confiscated his car and being likely to kill him afterward). While they argue about whether or not to capitulate, Max casually picks the lock on his cuffs and sits on the catwalk with a vaguely annoyed demeanor.
  • The Mechanic's vaguely annoyed look when he tries to put out the fire in his lap and ends up setting his arms on fire.
  • When Max brings in the truck cab that can haul that oil rig out, the Mechanic has to give his estimates, with a clueless assistant shouting it all back to Papagallo.
Papagallo: Well, what does all that mean?
Mechanic's Assistant: [to the Mechanic] What does that mean?
    Mechanic: 24 hours.
Mechanic's Assistant: [to Papagallo] 24 hours?
    Papagallo: You've got 12!
    Mechanic: Okay.
    Mechanic's Assistant: (grinning) Okay!
    • One must wonder if he got his engineering estimation habit from Scotty to make himself look like a miracle worker.
  • The final crash between Max driving the tanker and Humungous' car strewing debris across the desert. They made a Humungous mess...
    • Also watch the prop used as a stand-in for Humungous during the wreck. The stiffness and lack of reaction makes this a pretty obvious prop and rather funny.
    • The grittiness, gore and drama aside, the two major villains of the tale are wiped out in what essentially is a Bugs Bunny slapstick caper.
