  • In "First Lensman", Rod Kinnison and Samms discuss a certain nefarious Senator who's basically campaigning to be President of North America. Kinnison briefly quotes and imitates "the demagogue's round and purple tones". And it is purple, even by comparison to the series' normal Purple Prose. So how does Samms think they should counter him? Get Kinnison to run against him, because he's much more down-to-Earth and accessible to the common man. Even though he's still speaking in the series' usual overwrought dialogue, including his response to Samms' proposition.
  • The part in "Second-Stage Lensman" where Kimball Kinnison casually decides he'll have to take over a planet in order to reach his objective.
  • Kim Kinnison has an idea, and calls a conference of top-jet intellectuals to invent a new form of math. They're all such Insufferable Geniuses that he loses 25 pounds from the stress of riding herd on them. And he had help.
    • One of them, Sir Austin Cardynge, becomes a recurring character. At one point, he demands a spot on a dangerous mission. Kim basically goes "You could get killed! Or worse!" Sir Austin basically goes "Yes, and?"
