Funny / Legends of the Hidden Temple

Original

  • Kirk had a habit of screwing up the names of the Temple rooms, especially in the first season. He'd call the Cave of Sighs the "Ledge of Sighs", the Heart Room the "Center of the Room", the Tomb of the Ancient Kings the "Temple of the Ancient Kings" and the Jester's Court the "Court Jesters".
  • In "Galileo's Cannonball", Olmec claims that Galileo invented pizza when his cannonballs landed on cheese and pepperoni sandwiches. Kirk laughs and shakes his head upon hearing this.
  • "Wild Bill Hickok and the Dead Man's Hand": One of the Silver Snakes falls for the obvious joke answer to a Steps of Knowledge question. Specifically, he answers the question asking for the friend of Wild Bill who fought at the Battle of Little Big Horn with "Colonel Sanders"note , Kirk sounded surprised and some of the audience laughed, but it was most likely aimed more towards his answer reminiscing Colonel Sanders (businessman of the Kentucky Fried Chicken fast food chain) than at the contestant himself.
  • "Henry VIII's Great Seal":
    • One question in the Steps of Knowledge asks what the lawmaking body of the British government is callednote . The joke answer is The People's Court.
    • In the second Temple Game, the two girls on each team navigate through the Bamboo Forest while wearing a Fat Suit. Kirk drops a snarky "My have you gained weight!" before explaining the rules.
    • The first Temple Guard scares the frontrunner so badly that she can't even hand her the pendant, she throws it at her, and you can later hear her say "Oh my GOD" in shock. The second Temple Guard causes her to scream in terror before she can even ascend the ladder to the Heart Room.
    • The ending to the episode's Temple Run. The male Silver Snake gets to the Tomb of the Ancient Kings and opens the sarcophagus. A Temple Guard then pops out of the golden doors, scaring him so badly that he jumps over the fallen columns and out of the Temple. The Guard even makes a "come at me bro!" gesture.
  • In "The Silk Sash of Mulan", the second Blue Barracuda finds a Temple Guard in the Laser Light Room and defends himself by throwing light covers at him.
  • "The Golden Pepperoni of Catherine de' Medici":
    • In the legend, Catherine summons her psychic Linguini to analyze a dream she had about someone chasing her in her castle. Linguini blames the dream on Catherine eating too much pepperoni late at night before adding "I'm a psychic, not a psychiatrist!"
    • In the closing seconds of the Temple Run, Aqila passes up the artifact in the Room of The Secret Password, even with Kirk yelling "GET THE PEPPERONI!". Her partner Chris falls to his knees after time expires.
  • Olmec got hammier in later Season 2 episodes and throughout Season 3. In a few episodes, Dee Bradley Baker's voice cracks at the word "Shrine" in the Shrine of the Silver Monkey.
  • And that doesn't even stop there; Olmec would pronounce other rooms humorously as well. He would whisper "the Room of the Secret Password", and deliver "the Dark Forest" in a spooky ominous manner.
  • Olmec's goofy one-liners before the Moat round begins. To add a few...
    • "Oh, yeah!"
    • "Let's rock!"
    • "Rock and roll!"
    • "This rock is ready to roll!"
    • "Rock on!"
    • "One hundred percent!"
    • "You got it, Kirk!"
  • The temple run of "The Walking Stick of Harriet Tubman". The Orange Iguanas enter in with one and a half pendants. The frontrunner enters the temple through the Ledges and makes his way through the temple before being taken out in The Shrine of the Silver Monkey. The second runner enters the temple...and doesn't enter through the Ledges but through the Crypt, and gets immediately nabbed by the last Temple Guard. Just going "what" isn't enough for this.

Reboot

  • The fact that Olmec hates the Shrine of the Silver Monkey, just as much as the now-adult fanbase of the show probably does.
Olmec: Assemble that damned statue... if you can.
  • Olmec's punny taglines at the end of every episode.
  • For the second Temple Game in "The Llocano Legend of Lam-Ang", the contestants were asked to toss oyster shells through a hoop; while doing so, Olmec requested the contestants to yell out something one would say when digging for oysters, for his "entertainment". Anytime a contestant does so, which is usually some sort of oyster or fish-related pun, Olmec responds with a blunt sarcastic laugh.
  • The reboot loves playing with the And All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt trope. The sole consolation prize for a team eliminated in the moat round, is in fact, the shirts they get to wear on set. And of the consolation prizes for a team eliminated at the Steps of Knowledge is a T-shirt that reads "I lost on the Steps of Knowledge", which would certainly also play this trope straight if didn't get other show-related swag to go with it.
  • A moment in the episode "The Norse Legend of Freyja" is a cross between Moment of Awesome and this. Olmec asks a multiple choice question identifying the one music group from Scandinavia among the given choices. Chris on the Blue Barracudas (two steps behind the other teams) gets bold, hoping an intuitive guess winds up being one of the choices before it's even provided. Olmec then gives him a proper roasting...
Olmec: Which of these musical groups is Scandinavian: Queen? Bee Gees?—
    Chris: What is ABBA?
Olmec: What do you think this is, Jeopardy!? (Beat) That is correct.
