So that's where the swastika came from...
  • From the first ten seconds of the trailer:
Jojo: Are you ready for the best weekend ever?
    Yorki: Yes I am!
(Gilligan Cut to Yorki accidentally embedding a blade in another boy's thigh.)
  • Just the sheer number of big-name actors playing Nazis is hilarious in itself. Aside from Der Führer being played by the Russian-Jewish-Polynesian Taika Waititi, there's Sam Rockwell (who shows off his gunslinging skills), Rebel Wilson (who cheerfully tells kids to burn books), and Stephen Merchant (who squees when he sees how many Nazi posters Jojo has in his room).
  • In Klenzendorf's Establishing Character Moment, he is introduced chomping on an apple, while wearing shades and an overcoat, which is hilariously out of place even in Nazi standards. He also casually tells the Hitler Youth "Heil Hitler, guys."
    • Klenzendorf lamenting about the impending loss of Germany and the failure of "Operation Screw-Up" (obviously referring to Barbarossa), his current station instead of leading his Wermacht unit to a glorious death, and describing the duties of the Hitler Youth boys and girls, while barely putting on a cheerful facade as his peers never seemed to be bothered by what he says... except for the part where he says the girls' duty is to be a glorified Baby Factory.
    • Klenzendorf showing off his marksmanship skills despite losing his right vision... while making ridiculous, cartoony, over-the-top poses while shooting random objects.
  • Rebel Wilson’s casual delivery of “Hey, heil Hitler, everyone.”
  • "Adolf's" advice to Jojo on bullies:
"Let them say whatever they want. People used to say a lot of nasty things about me. 'Oh, this guy's a lunatic!' 'Oh, look at that psycho! He's gonna get us all killed!'" (gives a "look how I turned out" gesture)
  • When Jojo discovers a Jewish girl is hiding in his home:
Jojo: What am I going to do?
    Adolf: No idea!
Jojo & Adolf: GOT IT! I'll-
    [at the same time]
    Jojo: -negotiate.
Adolf: -burn down the house and blame Winston Churchill. ...Or negotiate.
  • Elsa's first meeting with Jojo, where she's shot and scored like a Stringy-Haired Ghost Girl in a horror movie.
  • Jojo’s Hitler is a stress smoker, but with a strange and hilarious way of going about it. Instead of going straight to lighting one up when things get stressful, he’s habitually polite enough to offer Jojo a cigarette each time, is turned down each time, and then somehow forgets he was going to stress smoke.
  • Jojo finds out about Elsa hiding in his walls. Jojo tells Yorki...
    • ...that there may be a Jew in his house. Yorki's response is a cheerful "Okay!", then completely forgets about it.
    • ...that he might be becoming friends with the Jew. Yorki's response is "Oh, cool, you hit it off with a girl!"
    • ...that he might be falling in love with the Jew, during the Russian invasion. "Oh, well, we have worse problems...", and he goes on to regurgitate obviously false propaganda statements about the invading Russians.
  • Rosie’s bizarre impression of her husband, complete with charcoal beard.
  • Yorki's late-stage WWII army uniform is definitely not paper. It is a "paper-like" material invented by Germany's scientists. Yup.
  • Klenzendorf showing off his hilariously over-the-top soldier designs that look like a child drew them, then claiming they're copyrighted so Jojo can't steal them... only to be topped by Klenzendorf and his assistant Finkle showing up to the final battle scene completely decked out in said flamboyant armor.
  • Jojo runs into Yorki while the latter is helping a fellow Hitler Youth carry a Panzerschreck. Yorki drops the back of the launcher to wave hi, setting it off and launching the rocket into a nearby shop, causing a huge explosion.
    Yorki: [exasperated] Oh, god...
  • After Jojo nearly kills himself while mishandling a grenade and it blows up at his feet, Klenzendorf's reaction is to tell the rest of the group, nonplussed, "Don't do that..."
  • "And where are all the god-damn knives?!"
  • As Jojo is being taken to hospital, Fraulein Rahm remarks that he "looks like a Picasso painting". Given that it's a POV shot, we are spared the gory details. Could be worse...
  • Klenzendorf had sent Finkel to go grab some German Shepherds...and what does he do? He goes and brings back actual shepherds from their farms.
Klenzendorf: [frustrated] Finkel, I meant we'd need dogs for when the city is attacked; not actual...German shepherds (cut to Finkel standing infront of 5 different shepherds who he brought from their farms).
  • Elsa's first confrontation with Jojo:
Elsa: You know what I am. Say it. Say it!
    Jojo: A Jew?
    Elsa: Gesundheit.
  • When Jojo is calling out to Elsa in her cubby. “Yoo hoo... Jew?”
  • The Overly Long Gag of each individual Gestapo member "Heil Hitler"-ing everyone when they get to Jojo's, one at a time. The tension in the entire sequence is completely offset by the sheer ridiculousness of this "hail of Heils".
  • Deertz telling Jojo that the rumours that Hitler has only got one ball are untrue. According to Deertz, he actually has four.
  • Deertz tells Jojo that he wishes there were more boys with his "blind fanaticism."
  • Deertz tells Elsa not to draw attention to Jojo's "hideous physical deformity."
  • Deertz finding a book Jojo wrote with sketches of all the lies Elsa told him about Jews, and then commenting about all the pictures of someone named Nathan being tortured or humiliated and describing this in great detail as Elsa (hearing this for the first time) glares at Jojo.
  • At one point, Hitler is eating a roasted unicorn head.
  • "Fuck off, Hitler." Doubles as an Awesome Moment.
  • The Hypocrisy Nod of Yorki observing that Japan is their only ally, and they don't seem very Aryan.
  • After escaping from a Russian firing squad, Jojo runs into his friend Yorki.
Jojo: Yorki! I thought you were dead.
Yorki: No, it seems I can never die.
  • The film's title sequence, where The Beatles' German-language version of "I Want to Hold Your Hand", "Komm, gib mir deine Hand"note , plays over stock footage of people performing the Nazi salute.
