Kiana and Bronya's attempt to surprise Theresa on her birthday would've worked if Fu Hua hadn't blurted out their names...or if they'd locked the door first.
Just because Honkai Impact 3rd has darker storytelling doesn't mean the game is devoid of any sense of humor. In fact, there are some lighthearted moments that will make you smile or even laugh.Per wiki policy, Spoilers Off applies here and all spoilers are unmarked. You Have Been Warned.

Main Story
Chapter 1: Dusk, Girls, Battleship
- 1-6: When Kiana is asked why she is partnered with Mei, she answers that both of them are "soul mates with a special connection".
- In 1-9, Mei releases a portion of her Herrscher powers but it left her exhausted afterwards, and Kiana had to carry her for a while. But when Mei wanted to be put down because she's already okay, the two had this conversation during stage 1-12:Kiana: Mei, you wanted to get off me because you gained weight, but didn't want me to find out?
Mei: Oh dear, Kiana...
Chapter 3: Poem of the Wind
- In 3-17, after learning about Durandal's seriousness from Theresa, Kiana expresses her gratitude that Himeko is a slacker and deadbeat drunk. Himeko immediately tells her to stop thinking out loud.
- In S3-14, Theresa's main concern about Durandal determining that she deliberately leaked the latter's location to Anti-Entropy isn't that the latter will attack or tell someone about it, but rather that she will get nagged for a day.
- In S3-15, Kiana's "brilliant" excuse for Anti-Entropy getting Durandal's location is that they were on holiday and happened to bump into her... and the latter buys it, despite Himeko's doubts.
Chapter 4: Betrayal Has a Silver Smile
- 4-1: Theresa ends her explanation of what she, Kiana and Himeko are doing at ME Corp with "and do naughty stuff along the way". Himeko is understandably flabbergasted.
- S4-7: When Theresa says that Siegfried was a womanizer who harassed every Valkyrie on board Hyperion, Kiana says, "Harassed? I wish I could do that too."
Chapter 31
- The animated short “Because of You”, as awesome and bittersweet as it is, has some moments of levity:
- Somewhere between its birth and its battle against Elysia, the Herrscher of Corruption must have fallen in love with the wonders of 90’s retro technology, because its arena is a whole “city” filled with it. Elysia’s attacked by serpentine computer cords, giant CD-ROMs, and buildings composed entirely of old stereos and CRT monitors. The inside of its main body has Matrix-esque data rain, characters are drawn in a 90’s anime style, and its inner security system is depicted as Space Invader ships, of all things.
- When Elysia takes out the computer cords with her ultimate, she starts strolling off in her usual sassy way—complete with a hair flip!—before the platform she’s on abruptly shakes, interrupting her. She makes an adorably surprised face as she briefly loses her balance.
- As she jumps off, she falls past the Herrscher of Corruption’s massive eye monitor, which opens to glare at her. The CN dub has Elysia give a small gasp in response. JP!Elysia’s reaction? A cutesy and curious “Eh~?”. Never change, Elysia.
- Senti is back, and she brought the circus with her:
- Dr. MEI isn't afraid of Senti in the slightest, and refers to her alternately as "Hua" and "Senti". The petulant teenager of a Herrscher can't decide which nickname she hates more. Kiana herself decides to go with the latter.
- When discussing how the lock on the Herrschers' powers is likely psychological, MEI makes a big show of lamenting how they don't have powerful psychics like Su or Aponia around, and if only they had the power of Sentience to work with. The reverse psychology is so transparent that even Kiana can see through it. Heck, Senti does too for that matter, but the jab to her pride is such that she promptly yanks Kiana into her illusory battlefield to give it a shot.
- During their little fight, Kiana suddenly has an epiphany and asks Senti to hit her harder. Senti's reaction is priceless.
- After this, Kiana cheerfully tries to coax some more help out of Senti, very obviously buttering her up with praise and asking for things only she can provide, like creating a mental link between herself, Mei, and Bronya so they can remain in contact while exploring. The proud Herrscher refuses at first, griping about how she's not going to do overtime for them, but later does it anyway after they leave.
- When Kiana, Mei, and Bronya return from the Bubble Universe, a relieved Durandal grabs Kiana's hands
and holds them tightly, having evidently been bottling up her worry for her "younger sister" for awhile. Quite touching...except Kiana doesn't know the full truth of their relationship and just ends up bewildered by how the normally calm and cool Durandal is acting. Durandal takes a very long second to remember herself and has to awkwardly sweep that under the rug before quickly moving on. It's lucky that they really do have a lot to talk about at the moment.
Dorm
More often than not, some of the dorm chibi interactions will makes you smile.
- Mei and Herrscher of the Void: Mei says that Kiana is in her rebellious phase, prompting HOV to complain that she's being seen as a problem child.
- Herrscher of Thunder and Herrscher of Void: The latter tries to pull a We Can Rule Together, causing the former to refuse and ask to fight, but before anything happens, the latter hears the doorbell and decides it can wait because she doesn't want her food to get cold.
- Bronya is developing a new HOMU Adventures game but the dorm computer cannot do basic rendering, and so she wants to hack into the Schicksal core computer.
- Fu Hua tries to get Fuxi to help her with her gacha luck, but Fuxi turns her down, leaving her very frustrated.
- Liliya can say she's playing hide and seek when she's quite clearly sitting out in the open.
- Durandal Failed a Spot Check; she can say Rita's not around or that there's no bed even when there is.
- Rozaliya and Liliya's interaction can have the former say, when the latter points out that none of the dormmates are watching their show, that she can feel someone watching.
- Tesla tries to get Kiana as the Herrscher of Flamescion to help her with the durability testing of her new Tesla-series robots. Kiana then asks Tesla that she thought Seele always helped her with testing, only for Tesla reminisces a certain Noodle Incident between her and Seelenote . So she asks Kiana to help her to see how their fire resistance works by using her Herrscher powers, which Kiana agrees.
Bridge Interactions
A few of the bridge interactions are quite humorous in their own right:
- Herrscher of the Void in the story: Sadistic apocalyptic-level threat seeking to pull Grand Theft Me on Kiana and destroy the world. Herrscher of the Void on the bridge: Something between a cat and a petulant Tsundere teenager.
- Bronya will occasionally demand a HOMU Happy Meal like a child.
Events and Other Modes
Once Upon a Time in Shenzhou
- At the beginning of the event, Kiana turns on the camera... and focuses on Mei's breasts, much to Theresa's consternation and Mei's embarrassment.
- Theresa turns out to be hilariously misinformed about the nature of the island being visited.note
- There is a large statue of someone that looks suspiciously like Fu Hua with a giant chick. Fu Hua hastily attempts to change the subject.
- Theresa's weapon during this event is of course Oath of Judah... which she swings around like a baseball bat.
- In 2-1, after Himeko talks about there being a lot of canned food in the underground plant and is worried that Kiana will find it, Fu Hua says she's making Kiana sound like a dog.
Valkyries' Spring Feast
- The roast pork Kiana made is strangely hard... because she encountered a Honkai beastnote and used its carcass as the meat instead of the pork she was supposed to go buy.
- Himeko made dandan mian (Chinese noodles with sauce)... that was really instant noodles with instant sauce mix.
- Someone who is totally not Tesla appears and calls Rita a pervert maid for tying her up in a chair. Rita promptly provides a chair and rope and offers for the same to be done back to herself.
- Kallen attempts to make stargazy pie. The result is so horribly carbonized that the Captain faints and sees Azatoth (sic) while unconscious.
- Kiana gets out of the remedial papers Fu Hua assigned her by simply choosing the same option over and over again, and not even a valid option at that.
Arc: Light Bound
- During a discussion about their times with the Taixuan gang when they were kids, Bronie says something that embarrasses Theresa, who yells "Bronie! YOU SHUT YOUR PIE HOLE!"
Elysian Realm
- In a conversation between Raiden Mei and Raven/Natasha, they discuss how or why the World Serpent organization was named as such; the one who founded it was Gray Serpent, Mobius' creation, and Mobius was a Flame Chaser from the Previous Era who had a heavy snake theme. Going by this logic, Natasha brings up a rather hilarious What If? scenario - Had the organization been founded by Hua (who's associated with birds), it would've been named with something like "World Bird". Natasha sounds joking at this point, so Mei just becomes totally silent due to how the conversation ended up.
- Raiden Mei eventually ends up as the Butt-Monkey in a Running Gag that involves Elysia wanting to touch or feel her horns, and at one point, this was about to be broadcasted on the realm's radio.
- It became a Brick Joke when Mei allows Elysia to do it on the lounge, under the hope that no one else would know about it. A brief moment later, it's revealed that Natasha was actually somewhere near that scene and saw what happened, albeit her dialogue box implies she's dumbfounded or awkwardly silenced by it. When Natasha rendezvoused with the two women during a scripted Elysian Realm exploration, she jokingly suggests Elysia to touch her own red claws as well, just as they are similar to Raiden Mei's red Oni horns. This confirms Mei's worry about someone else witnessing the "horn touching" scene, and so she repeatedly (but unsuccessfully) pleads Natasha to forget everything she saw prior.
- As the Elysian Realm Arc gets integrated into the Main Story chapters, the "horn touching" gag ended up being subtly referenced in Chapter 30. It turns out even Pardofelis has heard of it, so she briefly wonders how touching Mei's horns would feel like.
Summer Survival: Rhapsody
Side A
- Kevin's mission card requires him to bring laughter to everyone, but his sense of humor only consists of saying ice and cold-related puns at any given time. Hua, Sakura, Pardo and Elysia admit that his puns are lame, but had to play along for the sake of his mission. Even after his mission card is dealt with, Kevin still continues the puns, much to the surprise and annoyance of the girls. Gameplay and Story Integration is also in effect when you play as Kevin because his battle quotes and themed skills also contain puns. Later on it's revealed that these weren't things Elysia scripted for him, these really are Kevin's jokes.
Side B
- One of the animated sequences is of the Flame-Chasers lined up on the sinking cruise ship to jump into one of the lifeboats. It starts off with Hua and Pardofelis◊ doing the scene from Titanic (1997) where Jack are Rose are standing at the front of the ship, with Pardo having blank cat eyes and a cat smile. Later◊, Kevin makes another ice pun to try to ease Kosma's nerves, and Kalpas is standing away from everyone else having a fit.
Honkai Salvation Log
- At one point, you have to save the game's Designer, which involves beating a corrupted version of the Iron Queller daily event using a provided mecha. To free the Designer, who's buried to the waist in sand, you charge up the mech...and then deliver a Megaton Punch that sends the Designer off like a shot. The screen then shows "FATALITY" (although she's alright).
Miscellaneous
- Like the other characters, Herrscher of Sentience ended up getting a summer outfit in the form of a swimsuit. Appropriately, her broadsword turns into a surfing board. Except in burst mode, where it’s replaced… by a rubber shark. Which makes squeaking noises when she bashes enemies with it. On top of that, those who unlocked the costume agree that the outfit is ugly as hell, but also exactly the sort of thing she would wear during summer.
- The entries for enemies in the Collections page often include comments made by certain characters depending on what organization they belong to. Many of these are naturally filled with hilarity.
- The self-destructing Spider-type mechs are revealed to be created by Tesla - in response to insufficient funding. Plus, she apparently threw them together while she was in college as well.
- The Shrapnel Rattler was built... because Tesla thought mining was too slow.
- Some of the mechs have a back-and-forth between Schicksal's Tactical Lab and the Weapon Lab - many of which are the Tactical Lab wondering if they could learn anything from AE Models, only for the Weapon Lab to respond that they already have an equivalent. For Example:Shicksal entry for Arc DEF: Garrison
An improved version of the AE support model. Besides buffing up allies, it can also protect itself with a sturdy shield.
Tactical Lab: The shield is pretty hard to break. Shouldn't we develop some shielded mechs too? @Weapon Lab
Weapon Lab: Is our Heimdall a joke to you? - The entry for the Kunoichi-type Zombie has Tesla pushing an advertisement for the Positron Blaster pistol.
- Scarlet Uriel's entry has Schicksal's HR Office complaining that every new Valkyrie is going for melee weapons, rather than ranged weapons.
- RPC-6626's entry involves this exchange:Heavily armed anti-Honkai VTOL aircraft developed by Schicksal, used for air support in open spaces. Not recommended for rescue missions.
Susannah: Why not recommended?
Tactical Lab: It specializes in Carpet Bombing. There won't be anyone to rescue after it's done. - The entry for the Herrscher of Sentience sees the Herrscher in question apparently using her abilities to shitpost on the AE Database.
- Aponia's entry reveals that Kalpas has loaded her data and attempted to fight her around 14,000 times — and given the comment he left on the page, lost every single time.
- Mobius's entry was written by Elysia, who, after describing her scary monster form, goes on to say she's quite a cute person and loves pink dresses. Mobius asks Klein to remove Elysia's editing and commenting privileges in the comments.
- Tlaloc's entry features Theresa wondering how it was killed, since her attacks were ineffective, only for Tesla to reply it was a traffic accident.
- Void Chela's entry features Durandal asking "A crab?" hungrily.
- The entry for Study: Girl with a Floppy Hat (one of Griseo's paintings) involves Pardofelis trying to sell earplugs while posing as someone else.
- The entry for Ho H has Klein stating that loading this simulation may cause lag and significantly heat up the device. This is followed by Mobius grumbling about Elysia apparently adding a ton of special effects to said simulation. This leads to an exchange that eventually culminates in Vill-V putting in a plan to build 30 more Kevin-Killers, which is promptly rejected by the man himself.
- The entry for Elysia's Origin form reveals that Pardo stole Kalpas's door to make a "Pay for Photos" sign.
- Kevin's entry has Jackal espousing his greatness before demanding that Gray Serpent turn off the character limit.
- False God Otto's entry reveals that his simulation includes audio - much to Durandal's annoyance.
- In Pardofelis' Ulitmate, she tosses her Chakram into the air; this summons a gigantic version of Can to drop to the ground and crush enemies. One of her voice lines for this is her telling Can that he needs to go on a diet. This is amusing enough on its own, but Can's mournful-sounding meow in response is the icing on the cake, as if he's saying "I know, I know!"
- The ongoing joke that absolutely none of the Kaslanas can cook. To wit:
- Kallen's cooking is so atrocious that it knocks you out in one of the side events.
- Siegfried has a tendency to use the Judgement of Shamash to warm things up. This predictably ends with most of his cooking being charred disasters.
- Outside of pizza toast, the only thing that Kiana produces is an unappetizing mishmash of random ingredients she thought were good.
- Durandal, being the original Kiana, also suffers from this - her attempt at making a lava cake is ridiculously salty, and is more lava than it is cake.
- Version 7.0 of the game brings along a new Divine Key/PRI-ARM for the Herrscher of Sentience. The kicker? It's a literal brick, complete with a sticker of her face.
- There's a beginner-level yoyo trick called walking the dog. In Senadina's victory animation, Dog Walks You.
