Kim Shin and Wang Yeo's telekinetic knife fight

  • Kim Shin's reaction to seeing Wang Yeo.
Kim Shin: What a vulgar hat.
  • As a child Deok-hwa isn't impressed with Kim Shin. The first thing he says about him is, "He's not that cool." A bit later he calls Kim Shin a weirdo.
  • Kim Shin gets home to find Deok-hwa has rented his house to Wang Yeo. He's delighted by this turn of events.
Kim Shin: Know what that is? That thing is—
Deok-hwa: Don't call our tenant "that"!
    • Kim Shin tries to get Wang Yeo to leave. Wang Yeo has already signed the lease, so Kim Shin sets the document on fire. Him pretending to blow smoke off his finger as if it's a gun is just the icing on the cake.
Kim Shin: I hope that wasn't important.
  • Kim Shin redecorating Wang Yeo's room while he sleeps. Wang Yeo's supremely unimpressed expression sells it all.
Wang Yeo: I will ruin you.
  • Kim Shin and Wang Yeo have a meal together. Wang Yeo tosses the pepper pot into Kim Shin's glass of water, then claims it was an accident and he meant to put it on his food. Kim Shin throws it back. It lands on Wang Yeo's plate and covers his food with pepper.
Kim Shin: Oops, my bad. I meant to sprinkle it on you.
    • In the next episode Wang Yeo throws pepper at Kim Shin again. This time Kim Shin catches it. So instead Wang Yeo throws Kim Shin's plate out the window.
Kim Shin: That was a plate from Louis the 14th!
    • Taken up to eleven when the two have a telekinetic utensil fight.
  • Deok Hwa tells Kim Shin he already knows Wang Yeo is a grim reaper, then turns around and finds Wang Yeo behind him. He runs away, only to nervously back out again because Wang Yeo is now right in front of him.
  • Kim Shin gets ready to move out.
    Kim Shin: I'll phone.
Wang Yeo: You know I don't have a phone.
Kim Shin: That's why I said it.
  • The doorbell rings for the first time in sixty years, to Kim Shin's and Wang Yeo's alarm. It's utterly hilarious to see two grown men, one an immortal goblin and the other a grim reaper, too scared to answer the door.
  • Eun-tak figures out how to call Kim Shin and summons him whenever she feels like it. Kim Shin is not amused, especially when she summons him to a church. Later she summons him while he's having his dinner.
    Eun-tak: I'm fine with this.
    Kim Shin: I'm not.
    • After the summoned-during-dinner incident Kim Shin storms back into his house shouting, "Goddamn!" Wang Yeo watches him then makes a "he's crazy" gesture. Made funnier because Wang Yeo raises his hand, pauses to make sure Kim Shin can't see him, and only then does he make the gesture.
  • Eun-tak follows Kim Shin and ends up in Canada.
Eun-tak: If this is truly Canada and you have such power, I've decided.
    Kim Shin: What?
    Eun-tak: My mind's set!
    Kim Shin: Wh-what?
    Eun-tak: I'll marry you!
  • Kim Shin interrupts Wang Yeo watching TV.
Kim Shin: Come with me. It's important.
Wang Yeo: If not, you're dead.
  • Before getting into bed Wang Yeo approaches the bed warily and checks to make sure it's safe. Then Kim Shin barges in and startles him so much he falls onto the bed. And even though he's fully clothed he holds the sheet up as if he's protecting his modesty!
    • Then there's the reason Kim Shin barged in: to ask for fashion advice.
Kim Shin: This outfit is better, right?
    Wang Yeo: Than what?
    Kim Shin: My previous one.
Wang Yeo: ...Did you even change?
    • Followed quickly by, "Does this book go with this? She keeps summoning me. I want to seem smart and flawless."
    • Kim Shin moves on from asking for fashion advice to bringing random objects into the room. One of them is a picture that's too large to fit through the door.
    • Finally Wang Yeo hides beneath the covers. Even that doesn't make Kim Shin leave him alone; he climbs onto the bed, pulls the covers back, and freaks out to discover Wang Yeo sleeps with his arms folded like a corpse.
Kim Shin: Is this a morgue? Need flowers or air?
Wang Yeo: [starting to cry] Just let me sleep.
  • Kim Shin sulks for hours and conjures up a storm indoors after his sort-of break-up with Eun-tak. Wang Yeo tells Deok-hwa it's because of a woman, to Kim Shin's annoyance.
Kim Shin: I was pondering the stock market. Zip your lip, Grim Reaper!
    • Kim Shin gets sick of Deok-hwa's "advice" and ties him up so he'll stop talking.
  • Deok-hwa gets information on Eun-tak's family... and puts a photo of himself amidst the photos of them. Kim Shin throws it away as soon as he sees it, to Deok-hwa's dismay.
  • Wang Yeo explains his presence by telling Deok-hwa's grandfather, "I'm [Kim Shin's] friend". Kim Shin stares at him incredulously. Then when Deok-hwa says Kim Shin is leaving Wang Yeo waves and says goodbye in the most deadpan voice imaginable.
    • Kim Shin says they aren't friends. Wang Yeo looks surprisingly hurt for someone who's spent the entire series being annoyed by Kim Shin's existence.
  • Eun-tak asks Kim Shin to buy her a drink. Wang Yeo appears out of nowhere right behind her and asks for the same drink, to Eun-tak's alarm and Kim Shin's exasperation.
    • Eun-tak says Wang Yeo is good-looking. Kim Shin asks if he's good-looking too. Cue an awkward pause before Eun-tak says he's "just looking". Kim Shin immediately takes away her drink.
  • Wang Yeo tells Kim Shin he's on Eun-tak's side... because if she pulls out the sword Kim Shin will die, and Wang Yeo wants him to die as soon as possible. Kim Shin nearly attacks him in the middle of a store for that.
    • Afterwards Kim Shin leaves the store first. Wang Yeo follows and is first confused then exasperated to find Kim Shin has disappeared.
    • When Eun-tak moves in Wang Yeo is delighted and tells her he'll be cheering for her to kill Kim Shin. She doesn't know what he's talking about and thinks he means there's a lot of housework to do.
  • Kim Shin telekinetically steals Wang Yeo's drink.
  • Kim Shin leaves... and comes back.. and leaves... and comes back... and leaves... and comes back.
  • Kim Shin's reaction to Eun-tak ringing the doorbell.
Kim Shin: Death is calling me.
  • The Running Gag of Deok-hwa's attempts to regain his credit card.
    • His grandfather tells him something important depends on Eun-tak. Deok-hwa asks what.
    Grandfather: Your credit card.
    • Kim Shin gives Deok-hwa his own credit card when he thinks he's going to die. Later, after he doesn't die, he asks Deok-hwa to give it back.
  • The gold bars Kim Shin gave to Eun-tak's aunt turn out to be stolen. The aunt and her family only learn this when they attempt to sell them.
  • Kim Shin and Deok-hwa go to a café and find Wang Yeo is already there. He's wearing his hat so from Deok-hwa's perspective Kim Shin is talking to an empty chair. And then it turns out he's there to watch a series' finale.
    • Wang Yeo and Deok-hwa exclaim "Awesome!" in unison at a dramatic moment in the series.
    • Kim Shin freaks out when he remembers his Alcohol-Induced Idiocy the night before and makes Deok-hwa think he's crazy. Then he threatens to set Wang Yeo's hat on fire and a passer-by thinks he's talking to him.
  • Kim Shin has an angsty Internal Monologue about how Eun-tak will eventually kill him. It's very sad and dramatic, and then...
Wang Yeo: I can hear everything you're thinking.
  • Wang Yeo throws away a bag of garbage. It flies half-way across the city then lands in the back of a garbage truck.
  • Kim Shin and Wang Yeo accidentally lock themselves and Eun-tak out of their own house because they can't remember the passcode.
    • Later they get into an argument over how Eun-tak's room should be decorated, and forget to consult Eun-tak until she reminds them it's her room.
  • Eun-tak offers to sleep in the flowerbed. Kim Shin lets her sleep in his room instead, then demands Wang Yeo sleep on the couch so he can sleep in his bed. Wang Yeo heads for the door.
Kim Shin: Where are you going?
Wang Yeo: I'm going to have Ms. Special Case go sleep on the flowerbed.
[He opens the door to find Kim Shin has teleported in front of him]
Kim Shin: Have you always been this inconsiderate?
    Wang Yeo: Yes.
  • Eun-tak makes a list of rules for Kim Shin and Wang Yeo to follow. They include things like "Don't make it rain too often" and "Phone me if you need something; don't just teleport in front of me".
  • Deok-hwa tries to explain how smartphones work. To Wang Yeo. Who assumes "Play Store" is an actual shop.
    • Followed by Kim Shin's attempts to video call Wang Yeo. The poor guy just can't understand that he's supposed to hold the phone in front of him and not at his ear or the side of his head.
    • Kim Shin tries to have a serious conversation with Wang Yeo. He should have known better than to do it over the phone.
Wang Yeo: It's too loud. I Can't Hear You.
Kim Shin: Put in the earphones!
Wang Yeo: Yes, I'm holding it far away from my ear!
  • Kim Shin gets annoyed by Eun-tak talking to Wang Yeo and ignoring him. Cue an argument that ends with him calling himself her boyfriend, freaking out when he realises what he just said, and both of them being so embarrassed they run away from each other.
  • Wang Yeo's constant awkwardness around Sunny.
    • Sunny talks Wang Yeo into having coffee with her. He spends most of the time staring at the table.
    • Kim Shin phones Sunny on Wang Yeo's behalf. Wang Yeo is horrified. Then he freezes time and practices what he's going to say, unaware Kim Shin can still hear him.
    • Wang Yeo sees Sunny walking towards him, freaks out, and puts on his hat to avoid talking to her. Then Sunny phones him, unaware he's standing right next to her, and is very confused when she hears his phone ring. After that she trips over and lands on top of Wang Yeo... who's still invisible to her.
    • Sunny phones Wang Yeo. He's too embarrassed to answer so he begs first Kim Shin then Eun-tak to answer the phone.
    • Sunny texts Wang Yeo. Unknown to her he's standing in front of her.
Sunny: [texting] What are you doing right now?
Wang Yeo: I'm trying to unlock my phone so I can turn it off. I'm afraid it'll go off again.
  • Turns out Kim Shin inspired Shakespeare's "To be or not to be". Wang Yeo does a Spit Take when he hears this.
  • Wang Yeo offers to hug Kim Shin. Kim Shin doesn't appreciate it and threatens Wang Yeo with a sword until he gives up.
  • The montage of Wang Yeo dealing with various souls. One woman wants to be reborn as Kim Tae-hee and discovers she's 92414945th in line. Then a married couple have a fight and the wife throws tea at the husband while Wang Yeo facepalms.
  • Wang Yeo tells the loan sharks they had a fight and will never make up. When they reappear several episodes later they're constantly fighting, even while in the police station.
  • A bit of Mood Whiplash after Kim Shin's attempted death: Wang Yeo has just told Deok-hwa that Kim Shin is dead, Deok-hwa bursts into tears, and then Kim Shin walks in. Deok-hwa is glad to see him. Wang Yeo, not so much.
    • When he thought he was going to die Kim Shin gave Deok-hwa his credit card, Wang Yeo the deed to their house, and Eun-tak $5000, perfume, and a bag. When he doesn't die he asks them to give their gifts back. None of them are happy about this. So Eun-tak and Wang Yeo try to convince Kim Shin to let them keep their gifts — by telling him they love him. Kim Shin is not amused.
  • Wang Yeo considers telling Eun-tak the truth about the sword just because Kim Shin might die of fury when he finds out, and then the house would be Wang Yeo's.
  • Wang Yeo asks Kim Shin to send Eun-tak away so he and Kim Shin can "be happy together like we used to be". Kim Shin can't believe what he's hearing because the two of them were never happy together.
  • Eun-tak gets home after her exam to find Kim Shin, Wang Yeo and Deok-hwa have bought her a cake. She blows out the candle, oblivious to Kim Shin's dawning horror. Wang Yeo and Deok-hwa are very confused when Kim Shin teleports behind her.
  • A drunk harasses Sunny, so Wang Yeo telekinetically throws him away from her. Unfortunately he didn't consider how Sunny would react to seeing someone thrown across the street by an invisible force.
  • Kim Shin and Eun-tak go to see Train to Busan. Kim Shin tells Eun-tak not to scream and embarrass him. Then the film starts, and Kim Shin's the one who screams and embarrasses Eun-tak.
  • Eun-tak's date asks if Wang Yeo is her father. Wang Yeo and Eun-tak stare at him incredulously.
  • A pickpocket steals Wang Yeo's money. He only learns this after his colleagues have met at a restaurant and expect him to pay their bill. All the other reapers quietly put on their hats and leave, while one of them steals Wang Yeo's hat so he can't do the same. He ends up having to ask Kim Shin to bail him out.
  • Deok-hwa comes up with a unique theory: Wang Yeo is the reincarnation of Kim Shin's sister!
    Deok-hwa: Call [Kim Shin] "brother"!
Wang Yeo and Kim Shin in unison: Wanna die?
    • Later Kim Shin asks if Wang Yeo believes this theory and sarcastically calls him "Sun".
  • Sunny owns a chicken restaurant. But Wang Yeo doesn't like chicken. Solution: buy chicken and bring it home for Kim Shin. After several days of chicken for dinner Kim Shin is sick of it and Eun-tak has step in and make Wang Yeo stop.
  • A reaper goes to collect a soul then freaks out when the dead man comes back to life. Earlier Kim Shin gave Wang Yeo a bag of socks as an apology without explaining what he was apologising for, so when Wang Yeo hears his colleague's story he guesses the socks are meant as an apology for this. The other reaper is very confused when Wang Yeo hands him the socks.
  • Sunny describes Kim Shin to her shaman and demands to know if the shaman knows a man who looks like that. The shaman helplessly suggests "Gong Yoo?"
  • Wang Yeo's telepathy causes problems when Eun-tak calls Kim Shin hers.
Kim Shin: [thinking] She called me hers!
Wang Yeo: [exasperated sigh] I can hear everything, you cheesy goblin!
  • Kim Shin doesn't look happy when he hears Wang Yeo talk about Kim Sun's beauty.
    Kim Shin: She's my sister.
  • After Kim Shin's apparent death Wang Yeo gets his house. When Kim Shin comes back he says it's good to be home. Wang Yeo immediately retorts it's his home now.
  • Deok-hwa, who hasn't regained his memories of Kim Shin yet, visits Wang Yeo while Kim Shin is still there. Kim Shin has to hide behind a chair, but he gets caught anyway because his feet are sticking out under the chair.
  • Kim Shin barges into Wang Yeo's tearoom and asks for money. First $5, then $10, then $100. Wang Yeo gets increasingly annoyed with each request, so Kim Shin teleports into Deok-hwa's house and asks him for money instead.
    • When he shows up in Deok-hwa's house Kim Shin is surrounded by flames. Deok-hwa grumbles later that he thought he was spontaneously combusting.
  • Kim Shin steals a sarcophagus.
Wang Yeo: Are you crazy? Put that back before you cause an international dispute!
