    Promotional Materials
  • Character Trailers:
    • The Zhongli PV, "An Additional Expense", follows the Wangsheng Funeral as they cover Zhongli's spending habits. At one point, Zhongli has lunch with Childe at the Wanmin Restaurant and gifts him a pair of chopsticks. Three things though: 1) Childe doesn't know how to use chopsticks, 2) the chopsticks cost over 100,000 mora, and 3) the Northland Bank footed the bill for the gift.
    • Albedo's Character Teaser video shows that he can create lifeforms by painting them. However, the Geovishap painting that he created is half-finished, so when it came to life, it's lacking a lower body. The background music also becomes an out of tune version of Rapid as Wildfires when this creature appears near the end.
    • Albedo's Character preview PV started awesome enough... until the near end where Klee brought out a gigantic bomb onto the unsuspecting Hilichurls. Cue an Oh, Crap! reaction from Albedo at the final seconds of the trailer when he realized what Klee just did.
Albedo: "Klee, no! Not at the... Crucible."
      • The teaser itself begins with him casually insulting Timaeus (albeit unintentionally) when inspecting his work with the Crucible.
Albedo: "This is Timaeus's newest design? Hmm, a commendable achievement. 20 more years and perhaps we can let him make a start on the textbook Sucrose uses today."
    • Ganyu's Character Teaser features her waxing lyrical about the beauty of nights in Liyue and how wonderful they are - except she was only saying that to try and convince you to help her work overtime. Paimon, and presumably you as well, instantly decline.
    • Eula's Character Teaser starts with her thanking the Traveler for sharing a table with her before cutting to an animation telling her backstory. Afterwards, it cuts back to the Traveler's POV, and it turns out he's staring directly at her chest. Eula chastises him, but only for not following proper etiquette (looking a speaking noblewoman in the eye) rather than ogling her assets. Then she sneezes and blames Jean.
Eula: "Achoo! Oh, I bet it's that Gunnhildr girl talking about me behind my back again..."
    • Dainsleif had this to say about Cyno during his Collected Miscellany trailer:
Dainsleif: "For as are Cyno's jokes, so too is his judgement: No laughing matter."
    • Speaking of Dainsleif, just hear him talk about Sayu's moveset in his usual serious and stoic tone. Imagine switching him out with a serious character portrayed by either Kenjiro Tsuda or Yuri Lowenthal and trying not to laugh.
Dainsleif: "Tap Sayu's Elemental Skill to perform a special ninjitsu technique of the Yoohoo Art, in which Sayu curls up and enters into the Fuufuu Windwheel state..."
    • Charlotte's Character Demo has a couple funny moments if you have quick eyes:
      • One of the newspaper articles has a scene of her interviewing Cyno, Tighnari, and Collei, only Tighnari is in the midst of a Facepalm, suggesting that Cyno's letting rip with his jokes.
      • After unleashing her Burst, there are a few quick shots of the Meks she's fighting looking around in confusion as they're thrust into the spotlight.
    • Furina's Character Demo, "All the World's a Stage", stands out with how utterly strange it is. The entire thing is treated like an insanely ridiculous play featuring moments such as Furina dancing around on stage, Furina dramatically defending Clorinde from a Blubberbeast, Furina challenging her own crab-shaped summon to rock paper scissors, Furina parodying other Archons (complete with character switch sound from the party setup menu) while swinging on a swingset, Freminet getting his diving helmet stuck, Neuvillette getting arrested by Navia, Lynette and Lyney switching roles between magician and assistant, Clorinde and Wriothesley getting into a duel to the death (when they are actually on very good terms), and Tartaglia running away from a group of Melusines (while Furina takes photos of the chase). It then descends into chaos as the characters randomly start brawling (including Neuvillette kneeing someone in the stomach) while Furina gleefully performs, and culminates in everyone present suddenly stopping their fight to strike a pose and look up at the viewer. The sheer number of out-of-character moments and bizarre scenarios feels like it came straight out of a child's imagination.
    • Navia's Character Demo, "Navia: Unofficial Operation", starts with the men of the Spina di Rosula discussing a warrant for a thief called the "Sea-Shadow" when said thief walks right in front of their headquarters, resulting in a comical (and awesome) chase by Navia and her men. Once she finally catches and defeats Sea-Shadow though, one of her men suggests that, before handing him to the Gardes, they might wanna get him to a doctor first given that she just blasted him and his Gardemek with a barrage of cannon fire!
      • There's also how, at several points in the demo, Navia takes the time to don her Cool Shades and give a smug expression as though she were posing for a movie trailer or poster, especially when she turns away with her Gunbrella sheltering her from any debris as a final explosion occurs in the background.
      • When the thief escapes from Navia and her men on an airship, the trio look briefly confused, only for Lynette to appear out of nowhere with her teacup and pointing up to another one.
    • Xianyun's Character Demo, "Xianyun: Unfettered as the Wind", has the Adeptus working with a woman who thinks that Xianyun is too ridiculous for her liking. As the woman leaves, she is accosted by Hilichurls and is only saved by Xianyun blessing her with her Starwicker, letting the woman jump up into a tall tree. After Xianyun defeats the Hilichurls, she smugly asks the woman if she will reconsider her views, to which said woman agrees as she begs Xianyun to help her down.
    • Given the popular joke regarding powerful, dominant women being "I want her to step on me," one has to wonder if Arlecchino (a powerful, dominant woman) killing a man by literally stepping on him in her Character Teaser, "Arlecchino: Sleep in Peace" might not be a coincidence.
  • In the trailer for 1.5 introducing the game's housing system, in one shot you can see Qiqi running away from Hu Tao in the background.
  • In the JP livestream for version 3.1, several messages from the JP VAs were broadcasted to commemorate Genshin's 2nd anniversary. Xiao's VA, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, opened his segment by holding an official giant bird Xiao plushie in front of his face and greeting viewers in a high pitched voice. As the video went on it he became increasingly distracted with squishing the plushie until he simply shifted topics to the plushie, in particular focusing on its butt. Unfortunately, he accidentally dislodged a thread of the cross on its butt, prompting an Oh, Crap! reaction, embarrassed laughter and much apologetic petting with such force that the plushie was getting flattened. The full interview released afterward reassured viewers with a closing note that the plushie was repaired as good as new.
  • The Version 3.7 trailer has a major focus on the flagship event, the King of Invocations Grand Prix, which is held internationally across the 4 nations available. Being a Genius Invocation TCG geek, Cyno is naturally present, and when Charlotte tries to move on after he told her the tournament was over he grabs her camera to focus on him and whips out a card to explain how he beat his opponent, all while maintaining his Cold Ham demeanor.
  • "Trial of the Scorching Sands", the web event for Cyno, has the players pick things for Cyno to bring into the desert while being mindful of the backpack size. Two items cannot be removed from the backpack — one being Cyno's trusty spear, the other being..."Cyno's unfunny joke collection".
"Good morning. Have a Candied Ajilenakh Nut, and I'll ca-shew later."
  • When Eula's banner was finally rerun in Version 3.8, after over a year of absence, player's were quick to notice that it also coincided with Hoyo updating Genshin's EULA.
  • Yae Miko's CN-exclusive 2023 birthday web event has her suggesting to the Traveler to cosplay with matching cat ears and tail for the protagonist of a new novel. The Traveler's reaction is to run away, and Miko notes with amusement that they left even faster than when Gorou sees her. The accompanying illustrations also display the differences between Aether and Lumine: while Lumine is simply politely rejecting Miko with a smile and a wave while backing away, Aether doesn't bother with the niceties, having already turned tail and is hurriedly making his way out. It should also be noted that only Aether is visualised doing the Faux Paw while in cosplay.
  • When Xianyun was announced to be a playable character, the story in the announcement has Zhongli and Madame Ping both claim that they're not too familiar with her.
  • How dedicated is Kujou Sara to the Raiden Shogun? Take a look at every banner that the latter is featured and you'll know.
    General, Recurring, and Gameplay-Related Moments

Paimon's dialogues

  • Some dialogue choices can be hilarious or quirky, with the earliest examples allowing you to describe Paimon as an "emergency food". Later, when you meet Xiangling, she asks if Paimon is an edible exotic creature, and your second dialog option is "Dig in."
Paimon: No! For the last time, Paimon is NOT EMERGENCY FOOD!
  • You can also openly fantasize about creating new Paimons to one of the smiths, at which point Paimon will RAIL you and insist that she’s the only one you need, but also wonders if she did something to upset you and make you want to replace her.
  • Every single time Paimon accidentally says something aloud she shouldn't have (i.e. something that was supposed to be a secret). The Traveler's reactions (which can best be summed up as "Ugh... of course she said it...") are absolutely golden.
  • The Traveler joking wanting to fish another Paimon, much to Paimon's dismay. Nantuck wonders if Paimon is a new fish species, to which the Traveler responds by calling her a "Wonderous Seafood".
Paimon: Hey! When did Paimon go from "emergency food" to "wonderous seafood"!?
    • One of Paimon's reactions for catching a fish has her enthusiastically asking if the Traveler caught "another Paimon".
    • Another of her reactions is this line: "Wow, Paimon's stomach is rumbling already!" She can potentially say this line for any fish, including the maintenence meks found in Fontaine.

Combat

  • Hilichurls will flip out and dance around frantically if you set their shields ablaze.
  • Abyss Mages tend to have their menace factor completely ruined by their adorably high-pitched voices. This is especially funny when one is speaking with Stormterror in what is supposed to be a very serious moment, but for some players? That doesn't stop them at all.
  • In freeroaming, if you encounter a Pyro Abyss Mage with their shields up when it is raining, expect to see them hilariously flop down to the ground even when you aren't even fighting them, due to the rain applying constant Hydro (the element their shield is most weakest against) to them.
  • Certain Anemo abilities have the ability to suck up the mines from Klee's Jumpty Dumpty. Among these abilities is Jean's Gale Blade, and since the bombs are also propelled forward when she releases it, she can actually bombard people with the mines from a distance. One can't help but wonder if she's ever used this trick to attack, or to get rid of Klee's explosives in a hurry.
  • When fighting the Anemoboxer Vanguards, they'll occasionally spout out this line in their combat dialogue.
Anemoboxer Vanguard: You can't run! (Beat) ...Well, neither can I.
  • The Cryo, Electro and Hydro variants of the Treasure Hoarder Potioneers throw elemental potion vials at you, which makes sense given their name. The Pyro variant, however, is amusing as he throws Molotov Cocktails instead.
  • Most enemies (with few exceptions) ragdoll when defeated, but there's a rare chance that if you defeat an enemy, they end up cartwheeling before disappearing. Treasure Hoarders in version 1.4 will occasionally flop and drop dead in a rather hilarious and over-the-top manner when defeated.
  • One of the Crackling Axe Mitachurl's attacks that only occur during a heavy rainstorm is to swing their axe overhead... Only for them to be struck by a lightning bolt causing the poor Mitachurl to be struck up to a maximum of two (or three) times before falling down. Amusingly, this is actually the Mitachurl's strongest attack, and the Mitachurl surprisingly doesn't take damage from being struck by a lightning bolt at all.
  • The Moonchase Festival event's highest-tier rewards are new claymore, the Luxurious Sea-Lord, and the refinement materials to upgrade it. It's a really nice weapon optimized for doing damage with Elemental Bursts and is well worth upgrading...and it's also a ridiculous dead fish that summons a giant tuna to deal damage alongside it.
  • When an Eremite camp has both a flirty Clearwater and serious Daythunder, you may hear this dialogue upon starting combat:
    Clearwater: Welcome, welcome~
Daythunder: You are NOT welcome here!
  • While somewhat cruel to see, there's something darkly hilarious about how the Hydro Hilichurl Rogue weaponizes a Giant Hydro Slime by repeatedly smacking it on the head to make it shoot bubbles, then kicking the poor thing away once it's drained.
  • The flagship event-exclusive weapon in version 4.3, Roses and Muskets, is the "Ultimate Overlord's Mega Magic Sword". Nothing seems odd about it until a close examination shows that it's a cardboard sword covered in what appears to be tape. Ascending it adds Melusine stickers.

Open World

  • In the open-world map, it's possible to come across a pair or a group of Hilichurls dancing in unison. They'll still attack if they're provoked though.
  • In some areas of the map, you may find enemy factions interacting with each other in a… less than desirable way. For example, you can find an Eremite Ravenbeak Halberdier being cornered by two hilichurls in the Desert of Hadramaveth, hilariously trying to ward them off from getting closer (amusingly, just like every other enemy in the game, they will cast aside their differences and attack you if you get too close). And you can also find two hilichurls playing with a deactivated Ruin Hunter, probably not knowing that it’s dangerous.
  • After the Prologue progresses enough, missing person posters can be found around Mondstadt put up by Amber. Some of these can be found in very out of the way places, such as along a tiny path of grass going behind the Knights of Favonius Headquarters; i.e., a place nobody has any reason to visit.
  • Better keep your headphones on when playing as Lisa because a lot of the sounds that she makes while climbing or grunting are borderline NSFW. During a stream, Rie Tanaka, her own Japanese voice actress lampshades this, saying "Don't make such lewd sounds" while using Lisa to climb a mountain.
  • The noticeboards in various towns and cities tend to have funny messages on them.
    • One in Liyue city has a notice from Bubu Pharmacy telling people not to panic if they see a little zombie girl out in the mountains - that's just Qiqi, who works for the pharmacy and is completely harmless. This is immediately followed by the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor offering to put her down, which is then followed by a different worker at the funeral parlor telling the former person to stop with the bad jokes. The fact that these two are likely Hu Tao and Zhongli just makes it even funnier.
    • In Inazuma, a lot of the bulletin boards chronicle the misadventures of Arataki Itto, a former Vision Bearer who desires a rematch against Kujou Sara after surrendering his Vision to the general. His demands and nicknames get more and more ridiculous as he chases her all the way to Ritou, and the responses to his posts become more exasperated until even Sara starts to crack.
  • The premise of the Traveller searching for their sibling means that you can ask nearly every NPC in existence "have you seen someone who looks a lot like me?" When you get to Inazuma and meet the memetically popular Shiba inu at the teahouse, the question becomes "have you seen someone who smells like me?"
  • You can talk to an NPC named Linling in Liyue, who will recite some poetry for the Traveler. There is the option to reply with this golden response: Do you have Anemo power? Because girl, your poetry just blew me away.
  • In Sumeru, there are two NPCs with completely bizarre names that it's very hard to mention them without eliciting a slight chuckle; these are Umm (the village elder of Gandharva Ville) and Ouo (a cat from Port Ormos).
  • Taraneh, a street dancer in Port Ormos, is furious about an ex-lover in Liyue (implied to be the serial cheater Chaoxi, who is already two-timing two women back in his home country), so she plans to hire an Eremite to teach her how to fight so that eventually she can visit him and give him his just desserts.
  • In the Court of Fontaine there's a Melusine named Muirne who likes to stare at the sea. She tells a story about one time when Neuvillette noticed her looking at the sea and joined her while in deep thought. This eventually lead to a large group of people forming behind them, looking out to sea thinking something was happening. And what was Muirne thinking about the whole time? What she would eat later.
  • Furina’s seat in the Opera House has a sit function on it. But in order to reach it, you have to use some crafty platforming that requires the use of some characters’ elemental skills in order to get there. Apparently the developers figured out that players would find ways to go out of bounds to reach it, and prepared accordingly.

Miscellaneous

  • One of the loading screen tips is "Cocogoat: The legendary adeptibeast!", a reference to the Archon quest where Qiqi sends you on a Snipe Hunt for it.
  • With the exception of the pre-rendered cinamatics, most of the in-game cutscenes work by putting characters in scripted sequences in real-time while stock animations and Visual Novel-esque dialogue plays on-screen. An unintended side effect of this is that the game doesn't disable most outside factors during these cutscenes so it's possible for enemies and thunderstorms to interfere with your player character, with hilarious results. It's pretty funny to see your character struck by lightning in a cutscene and sent flying off-screen while Paimon and whoever else is expositing doesn't react to the event (even funnier if you get the "Wrath of the Gods" achievement from it), or your character getting pummelled by enemies while not doing a thing about them, and the damage they do still caries over, meaning it's possible to get killed by them in a cutscene. Neutral NPCs aren't exempt from it, either, meaning that if an NPC is normally walking around the area where the cutscene occurs, they can accidentally walk into the cutscene and bump into other characters — or, in some rare cases, even shove them out of the frame.
  • In addition to new content and various bug fixes, Version 1.2 also renamed some weapons and characters' talents. This includes one of Fischl's passive talents, which was renamed from "Lightning Smite" to "Undone By Thy Sinful Hex". That's right, the developers went out of their way to make Fischl into even more of a Chuunibyou.
  • During the Windtrace event, there is an occurrence of Aether appearing outside the playfield, without anyone playing Aether.
  • If you're playing with Japanese voices, just about every single word that comes out of Dori's mouth is guaranteed to induce both laughter and cringe, thanks to her VA's glorious delivery of her lines.
  • One of the Wanderer's idle animations has him charge up a wind blast, before promptly cancelling the attack and doing an Eyelid Pull Taunt.
  • The sheer difference in quality of playable characters and NPCs can be quite funny at times, especially at moments that build up to a big twist or surprise. Imagine knowing Morax had just "died", and the next moment seeing Zhongli, an elegantly dressed man clad in brown and gold (Geo colors), spewing out history and information about the Geo Archon like it's the back of his hand. Or seeing a crowd of normal-looking people gathered around and seeing someone in bright colors, animal ears, bizarre anime hair and clothes, or wearing a giant hat sticking out like a sore thumb.
  • Within Fleuve Cendre in Fontaine is a Tent Tortoise named Consigliere who can actually spoken to. The tortoise doesn't actually say anything, yet you are given dialogue choices regardless as if you are having a conversation with him. Selecting "Heh. Nevermind. Why am I talking to a Tent Tortoise, anyway..." at any point ends the conversation, while the other choices go on for a bit.

Playable Character Story Entries & Voice-overs
  • Barbara's first character story narrates how the people of Mondstadt eventually embraced her songs. Then out of nowhere, the text ends with this line:
"Albert, would you stop, please! You're completely out of tune!"
  • Fischl's fourth character story narrates how she became obsessed with fantasy novels. While her parents' dialogue lines are intact, Fischl's real name is replaced with blocks instead.
    • Really, Fischl has too many hilarious voice-overs to single out just one or two.
    • One of Fischl's idle lines has her reciting the backstory of the character she used as the basis for her chuunibyou persona. After several seconds of very obviously rehearsed lines, she mispronounces a word, lets out an annoyed huff, and gives up. It sounds like a recording session blooper that got kept as a joke.
  • One of Xiangling's lines for getting hit has her cry out "Help! My dinner is attacking me!" She'll say this for everything, including Treasure Hoarders and Fatui, Dvalin, Andrius (a spirit mind you), and even Hypostaseis, Automatons, and the barrier outside Stormterror's Lair.
    • In Xiangling's later story entries, her dialogue shows that she decided to travel to Mondstadt because she heard that a dragon had taken up residence there. Now consider Xiangling's main motivation for doing... anything at all. That's right, folks, she wants to turn Stormterror into dinner.
  • In one of Mona's voicelines, she decides to spy on Venti through her scryglass, and she soon finds herself surrounded by a gust of wind, which then proceeds to mercilessly tear off her clothes.
"Venti? The bard that sits around doing nothing all day? What's so interesting about him? Sure, I guess I can take a look... Huh, that's weird, the scryglass... it's... I can't see a thing... this wind... I can't... open my eyes! No, my hat! Ah! My clothes, stop! The wind is going to strip all my clothes off! Make it stop! Make it stop! ... Alright, alright! I'll never do this again!"
  • In one of Kaeya's quotes in Friendship Level 4, he learned the hard way about overdue library fees, especially with Lisa.
"Oh Lisa. Hmm... You'd better not forget to return your books on time. I made that mistake once and boy was she angry. My arm is still numb from last time..."
  • From Chongyun's backstory:
    • When Chongyun's congenital positivity got triggered inside the Wanmin Restaurant, he mistook Xiangling as an evil spirit, so he slapped an exorcism charm on her forehead and chased her around with his sword.
    • The "Field Guide to Demons and Beasts" is a book that Chongyun's family passed down in order to detail every evil spirit that they exorcised. There are also accompanying illustrations to help in describing the spirits, but those may end up looking ridiculous depending on the artist. Chongyun's imagination made him draw strange images such as a "seven-winged, five-legged chicken beast", or a "half-fish half-hilichurl demon".
  • Pretty much anytime Klee shows up, you can bet things are about to take a hilarious turn. For example, one of her quotes upon getting knocked out has her be briefly oblivious to the fact that she lost:
"Yay, I did it! Oh wait, no I didn't..."
    • On the subject of rain, she lets out a hilariously diabolical laugh before bragging that her new bombs are waterproof.
    • She expresses eagerness to help Diona destroy the wine industry, saying that she'll ready her bombs... before asking what a wine industry even is.
    • Klee's comments on other characters mostly have her saying positive things like they're "the best", or recalling fond moments with them. Diluc is an interesting exception because Klee just describes him with "He's one of the weird grown-ups. He's so grumpy all the time... Why does he never smile?"
      • If you read the second volume of the Teyvat Travel Guide, you can find Alice commenting that "There's a weird guy standing on the top balcony of Wangshu Inn", clearly referring to Xiao. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
  • From the Traveler's voice lines or opinions about Klee, Paimon has already gotten tired of being called an "Emergency Food":
Traveler: I wonder who makes the better mascot — Paimon, or Klee?
Traveler: Oh wait, I forgot. Paimon's not a mascot, Paimon's emergency—
Paimon: Hmph. Paimon knows exactly what you're going to say. That joke stopped being funny a long time ago.
  • According to Xinyan, Zhongli once approached her and asked her to perform. The catch is that Zhongli didn't tell her where she would be performing nor did he tell her what his occupation was. It was only until Xinyan arrived at the location did she realize that Zhongli is asking her to perform in a funeral house.
  • In Zhongli's voice line about Venti, he notices that the Traveler is drunk and concludes with scorn that "that bard" must've gotten them in that state. He then says he'll brew you up a nice tea to sober you up - which would be ready in six hours. Furthermore, in the Chinese dub, the phrase he uses to say he'll brew you tea can be taken as an innuendo for beating someone up. So according to fluent Chinese speakers, Zhongli has just said that he'll beat up Venti for six hours just because he got you drunk.
  • One of Qiqi's voice line has her listing off a few things you can keep in the refrigerator: herbs, coconut milk, Hu Tao...
  • In Yanfei’s Codex Finalem story entry, she envisions a future where people take the law to their hearts and live in peace requiring her services no longer. Her backup plan for when that day comes is to become a rapper. Since she can already recite thousands upon thousands of words of legalese, it should be no problem.
  • If you go to the Audio setting and change the Dialogue volume setting, Paimon will say various phrases to test it out. Keep changing it out and she will eventually get tired of it. You actually get an achievement for this!
Paimon: Is this level okay? Paimon coming in! Paimon coming in! Is this level okay? Can you hear Paimon? Hey! Are you just messing with Paimon?!
  • In a conversation with the Traveler, Paimon confesses to having spent an outrageous 300,000 mora on food alone.
  • Version 2.1 gave all the playable characters voice lines when they open a chest in the overworld. These include some gems like:
Venti: Thank Barbatos! ...Wait a minute.
Sayu: Looks kinda cozy in here. Nap time!
  • When asked about the Raiden Shogun, Itto feels that his resistance during the Vision Hunt Decree must have been "a pain in the neck" for her. Then when the Traveler asks her about Itto, she responds:
    "Who?"
  • Gorou notices that some of his men have started a rumor that petting his ears leads to good luck. He quickly denies this and declares that no one's touching his ears, only for the Traveler to immediately start petting his ears, eliciting a very adorable whimper from the dog boy.
  • Itto has some choice remarks regarding his experience during the Vision Hunt Decree:
Ugh, don't- don't even ask. Just the thought of it makes my blood boil! First- first, the Shogun's Army goes out and steals everyone's precious Visions- which, already a heinous crime, right? But then- then, they go and stick 'em all over that statue with absolutely no sense of organization whatsoever. I-I-I mean, think about it: the more powerful the Vision, the higher up on the statue it should go, that would make sense, right? But nooo, some class-A jerk in the Tenryou Commission thought it'd be funny to put my Vision right at the very bottom! (sighs) Come on!
  • When Heizou is asked about Itto, he recalls the time when he overheard him singing his heart out in prison (while also claiming the lyrics were terrible). This is demonstrated in Itto's voice-over for the Traveler's birthday where he sings for them at the end: in the Japanese dub, it's Gratuitous English; in Chinese, a full-blown opera performance... while in English, Itto starts beatboxing.
  • Place Shenhe in your Teapot and choose the "Good Morning" option when conversing with her. What followed is a prime example of Shenhe's homicidal impulse-induced Black Comedy.
Shenhe: Oh, up already, Traveler? If those noisy birds woke you up, I'll go silence them right away.
(Traveler winces back upon hearing what Shenhe just said)
  • In contrast to his gentle appearance, Tighnari has some hilariously snarky and sassy stuff to say.
(about the Aranara) "I've heard about the Aranara for some time now, but I haven't personally seen any. Sometimes, I hear rustling sounds from the forest's depths, but they disappear when I go closer. That's a good thing, though. At least they know how to protect themselves, unlike those stupid adventurers whose first thought when they run into an Avidya Leopard is "Ooh, maybe I'll form an inter-species friendship today.""
(More about Tighnari: III) "To better serve the Avidya Forest, I occasionally offer training courses to the Forest Rangers. If you want to split hairs, then yes, these courses would be considered as "dissemination of information" by the Akademiya. But what are they going to do — lock me up? I dare them. We'll see how many patients suffering from weird and wonderful ailments start flooding into the Bimarstan every day!"
  • One of Dori's idle voice lines has her singing to herself about how much she loves Mora. In English, Chinese and Korean, it's a cute, little ditty. But in Japanese... Not so much:
  • In great contrast to his public reputation and stern demeanour as the intimidating General Mahamatra, Cyno is extremely insistent about telling his jokes at the expense of everyone, including himself:
(About Tighnari: Jokes) "Tighnari once told me not to tell jokes at the dinner table, insisting that my jokes weren't funny at all. I did not share his opinion, so I told three of my best jokes in a row, and explained the premise of each in great detail. By the time I was done talking, my food was cold."
  • A voice line from Candace has her confused as to why the Traveler thinks her eyes are strange because amber and blue are common eye colors... but she has both colors on each of her irises. In addition to heterochromia, blue and amber are also incredibly rare eye colors which means there is nothing common about her eyes.
  • In complete contrast to his mother Ei, the Wanderer really hates dango and other sticky sweet foods.
  • Talk about Aranara Cuisine with Paimon, and the Traveler can't resist using this Overused Running Gag again:
Paimon: You're right. If the ingredients are good enough, they'll taste great even when cooked with the simplest methods.
Traveler: Just like Paimon. Just a little salt and pepper, and—
Paimon: Hey! For crying out loud, we're in Sumeru now! Don't you think that joke's getting a little old?
  • A conversation between Baizhu and Changsheng reveals that Hu Tao was once handing out flyers for the funeral parlor right outside of Bubu Pharmacy.
  • Neuvillette‘s favorite food is… water. No really, his favorite food is water. Not only that, but he even holds a water taste testing event, where he drinks water from different regions of Teyvat, and can distinguish where the samples of water comes from.
Neuvillette: I cannot help but feel that you bringing me here is some sort of an assassination attempt...
    • He also lightly laughs upon learning that some of the Archons wear fake Visions. Special mention goes to the Korean version, where he audibly laughs for a few seconds, and the English version, where he's left wheezing.
Neuvillette: Excuse me? You're saying even some members of The Seven don a counterfeit Vision before mingling with their people? Ha...[wheeze] My apologies — I was just caught off guard by the absurdity of the situation.
  • Furina ends her first Story Quest seeming to have grown a bit as a person, showing off a bit of her strong and capable side. However, immediately after departing, she went to go get revenge on a Local Legend that had bothered her in the past. She failed. Belatedly realizing that she'd probably need to practice with her new Vision, she ends up flooding her apartment with it, and even after cleaning up the mess she gets reminded of the "No Pets" rule because of her summons. Seems she still has a little bit of growing up to do.
  • Xianyun recounts the following incident and showing once again that the adepti are Not So Above It All as they like to present in front of mortals:
Xianyun: There was one year when it snowed heavily in Liyue, and Mt. Aocang was covered in several feet of snow. Seeing everyone cooped up in their abodes with nothing to do, one created a Snowdrift Mechanism for skiing on the mountains. One was having a tremendous time of it along with Guizhong and Streetward Rambler... until, of course, Moon Carver noticed as much and decided to join in. Moments later, he had managed to send the mechanism flying off the rails and plummeted deep into a snow bank. It took us hours to dig him out... Later, one introduced a great many safety features to the mechanism, to the point where it could be safely piloted by even a three-year-old child. Although this did entail a compromise on the top speed of the vehicle.
  • Arlecchino's main trouble voiceline has her admitting that she can't comprehend the slang that the children come up with. She also has another voice line indicating that despite her assasination attempt on Furina, she still had Lyney deliver cakes to Furina for tea.
    Commissions and World Quests

Mondstadt

  • For a commission, Timmie from Mondstadt wants you to feed the ducks in the lake to atone for scaring away the pigeons on the bridge with him. The ducks have been stealing the pigeons' food, and Timmie hopes that once the ducks are well-fed, they won't do that anymore and then everyone can be friends. You can respond with "I seek not the friendship of pigeons." For another commission, Draff the Hunter is frustrated that his carrier pigeons are unreliable, and he aks you to encourage the pigeons he just released to get moving and do their jobs. In a Call-Back to the other quest, you can tell him "I seek not the enmity of pigeons."
  • With the introduction of Genius Invocation TCG, you have a quest to win three games to officially be recognized as a TCG player. After beating Sucrose and Swan (one of the guards at Mondstadt's gates) you're ready for your third opponent, whom you are told is waiting for you inside a nearby room. Who could it possibly be??? The answer comes after they begin a monologue, partly muffled by the still-closed door.
Mystery Opponent: What ho, fellow voyager of the stellar void. Yes, even I was briefly discountenanced when I heard the tidings of your sworn oath to become the Thrice Victorious... But so be it! You who are enslaved by dueling desire, be released from your shackles into the glorious arena of gladiatorial combat! Step forth, O brave challenger, your Prinzessin grants you an audience. Hmph, hearken well! The wretched clock chimes yet again, as the declining light of the day grows dimmer still...
Mystery Opponent's Raven Familiar: Pardon my directness, but we have not been waiting that long. Mein Fräulein could afford to be a little less impatient.
    • And while Fischl is ultimately gracious in defeat, she doesn't take it so well once you eliminate two of her three character cards.
Fischl: Ah, what happened?! Oz! With lightning twixt upper and lower mandible, strike thy pointy beak into this obstacle, and remove it from my path!
Oz: Mein Fraulein, I cannot simply attack the Traveler!

Liyue

  • For a daily commission quest in Liyue, a man named Zhihua asks you to look around for signs that he might be about to find true love. If you see some pigeons together, for example, Zhihua will take that as a good sign. But if you kill the pigeons, he'll get mad at you because he believes that you ruined his chances at finding love by doing so. (You get the reward either way, though.) But it gets especially absurd when one of the signs you notice is: a pile of dead leaves. Paimon is quick to dismiss them as having nothing to do with love, but in Zhihua's eyes they are a sign that his love life will improve. He reasons that the leaves have great potential, since a single spark can turn them into a roaring fire and a gust of wind can send them flying majestically into the sky. However, if you used Anemo or Pyro to actually make that "turning point" happen:
Zhihua: Wait, you don't mean...Surely you didn't...Please don't tell me you...Oh no... that's it, it's all over! If you disrupt the natural timing of the turning point...it ruins everything! Fate and love will be plunged into chaos! Who do you think you are, playing god with the fate of these leaves!? Maybe you were trying to help, but I assure you, you have done more harm than you can possibly imagine! What am I going to do...Ugh, get out of here, go and ruin someone else's life! I need some time to cool down...
  • While exploring the Chasm, the Traveler meets a man named Clitopho who was just ejected from the Treasure Hoarders for incompetence. He ends up being recruited into the Chasm exploration team because a certain "demolitions expert" they were expecting from Mondstadt got grounded for blowing up Good Hunter, along with a cavalry captain who was acting as her chaperone. There's really only one person it could be, and the Traveler can respond to this by either wondering if this is good or bad luck, or by quipping about how Clitopho might actually be the safer option.
    • When the expedition team gets the idea of recruiting Clitopho, only Zhiqiong still did not trust the guy while the rest of the team were fine with him joining, since despite being a former con artist, he wasn't that bad. The most illegal thing he has done was selling fake medicine, but it turns out that the workers already knew the medicine was useless, they just had to add ice and they had a nice cold drink, very much how Coca-Cola started.

Inazuma

  • A ruined shrine on Seirai Island has been taken over by Neko, a former miko's cat who learned to talk. Being a cat, Neko's turn of phrase is a bit antiquated and odd and, while invested in restoring the shrine, she doesn't quite understand how it works and even changes some requests, like asking for branches to no longer be trimmed because she's a cat who likes to use them. Two members of the Adventurer's Guild become tied up in the story, with Taisuke, the male of the duo, being incredibly excited to meet a talking cat. Neko herself is put off by Taisuke, considering him to have an unsettling knowledge of a cat's heart...because he thought to bring her a gift of fish.
    • One of the first things Neko asks you to do is to repair the offering box, since she's trying to attract people to the shrine again. She remembers that when the box was intact, people would come to the shrine to put Mora in it. She concludes that if the box is fixed up, people will come to the shrine to put Mora in it again. It never occurs to her that the reason nobody is visiting the shrine is because the whole island is engulfed in a thunderstorm and has become dangerous AF. When you tell the two people from the Adventurer's Guild who are investigating the island about the shrine with the talking cat, they visit. When you talk to Neko next time, she's happy to inform you that fixing the offering box worked, because two "green humans" have already stopped by and put money in it.
  • In one of the world quests in Inazuma, you can find a man trapped in a cage surrounded by bandits. After dispatching the enemies, he'll tell you to get a key up in a tree a short distance away. Repeatedly talking to him before freeing him will result in you and Paimon taking turns trolling him, including accusing him of being another bandit or even a werewolf. Eventually he'll declare that talking to you is bad for his mental health and refuse to reply until you've freed him.
  • One of the possible weekly Requests for Inazuma comes from Kano Nana, a shrine maiden and Sayu's caretaker, who is fed up with Sayu not eating her carrots and asking for more. When delivered she says that she'll make certain that Sayu eats them all. All 15.
  • One of the daily commissions involves helping writer Junkichi overcome writer's block. Regardless of where the inspiration comes from, his solution is always to give the main character a new power out of nowhere. His publisher is exasperated by this trend.
  • A world quest on Serai Island starts with you rescuing a woman being attacked by hilichurls. It turns out that the woman, Fujiwara Toshiko, is on a hunt for her ancestors' treasure, and promises to split it with you if you help her find it and protect her. After solving a couple of puzzles, the two of you get access to a chest that disappointingly just has a picture inside. Toshiko suggests going back to her camp so that she can pay you for your trouble, but on the way you both get ambushed by Treasure Hoarders who have been watching you and are sure you have treasure for them to steal. When Toshiko protests that you only found one picture, the Treasure Hoarders decide that's better than nothing and try to take it by force, resulting in a fight. After the dust settles, the two of you start walking to Toshiko's camp again before you are stopped by some Masterless Samurai. The Samurai were following the Treasure Hoarders who were following Toshiko, and now demand the treasure for themselves. Another fight ensues, and after winning that you move on, only to be stopped by some Fatui. The Fatui were following the Samurai who were following the Treasure Hoarders who were following you, and now the Fatui try to rob you. After you beat them, Toshiko's had just about all she can take. Just before you finally reach camp:
    ???: Meow!
Fujiwara Toshiko: Agh! Wh—Who is it this time! Please, I just found this one picture, that's all I found, honest! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'll never go looking for treasure ever again!
    Traveler: It's just a cat...
Fujiwara Toshiko: Eh? Is it? Oh...
  • Enjou, the clerical staff sent to help you in Enkanomiya is quite a laugh riot. He acts like a Keet and even offers you to beat him up if you would just trust him for a short while.note  Even when he turns on and tries to kill you, he never loses his energetic, affable nature, even admitting he rather likes you. The funniest part is he's actually an Abyss Lector, and he never loses his Keet self even as a monstrosity of the Abyss Order. And one has to wonder if he was even trying to appear trustworthy before the reveal, since at one point he compares the excitement of unsealing ancient ruins for the first time to the rush one gets from burning down a huge library, out loud, to Traveler and Paimon's faces.

Sumeru

  • In one Sumeru quest chain, you're competing with some Eremites for a special mushroom. Two of them try to kill you. When you confront their leader and demand the mushroom, she offers to sell it to you. While calculating the price, she factors in medical bills for the two guys she sent to kill you and you just finished fighting, and decides to ask 450,000 Mora. An outraged Paimon tells her that's robbery. Her next words? "500,000 Mora for calling me a robber and hurting my feelings!"
  • The first part of the Sumeru world quest "Agnihotra Sutra" series features the traveler teaming up with an Aranara named Aranakin. Your first meeting with him involves this little gem:
Aranakin: Sand is Valuka, and those sand grains are a group of bad Nara Valuka. I don't like sand, it's coarse, rough, and irritating. And it gets everywhere.
  • During the quest "Children of the Forest", Arapacati says that Aranara, as forest spirits, can regain their senses by absorbing Dendro power, so Paimon quips that since the Traveler can heal from eating Sweet Madame, they must be a Sweet Madame spirit. You have the option of either agreeing with her or expressing confusion, which Arama and Arapacati will share.

Fontaine

  • The “A Certain” World Quest series is meant to poke fun at workplace bureaucracy, and is hilarious throughout.
    • The Maison Gestion had a recent leak involving photographs of company secrets, but it also doesn’t have a department dedicated to Kameras, so Iaune: a Gestionnaire, has to get the heads of Confidentiality and Staff Affairs to collaborate. Cue strawmans and other excuses being put up by both heads before Roialte comes out to tell both of the heads their responsibilities again.
    • To get the proposal stamped, Iaune is forced to use the “Autostamper 3000”: an automatic stamping machine so inefficient and failure-prone that the Traveler is forced to smack it just to get it working only to watch the machine slowly stamp the document “with all the speed of an elderly Tent Tortoise climbing a cliff”.
    • Because Iaune reimbursed a keycap and not an entire typewriter, he has to write an explanation to Neuvillette as keycaps are not on the list of reimbursable items. He finally collapses when it’s revealed that Carsix: Iaune’s boss, was the one who was leaking company photos and that it was Semaine who misplaced the keycap during the first all-nighter.
  • In the "In the Wake of Narcissus" World Quest series, the thought process sequences have a Running Gag in which one of the options is what Paimon ate which has nothing to do with what you are supposed to be thinking about.
Traveler: I don't know why I can't get this out of my mind. This can't really be foreshadowing. can it?
    Hangout Events

Hangout with Noelle

  • Noelle casually mentions that her standard morning exercises are 100 pushups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and 2 laps around Mondstadt.
  • One of the Traveler's suggestions for Noelle's strength training regime involves hitting a lot of ore veins. Noelle proceeds to mine everything in sight, even beating up a Stonehide Lawachurl in the process.
  • Another suggestion is that she go and get some practice against real enemies outside of the city. After a few encounters, the two of you suddenly hear somebody screaming Noelle's name. You find a man being attacked by hilichurls, and you defeat them. After the man has thanked you, the Traveler points out that Noelle was pretty far away and wonders how he knew to call for her. The response is that he just instinctively cried out "Noeeeelle!", because that's what everybody in Mondstadt is used to doing whenever they have trouble or whenever they're in trouble. In other words, it was a I Want My Mommy! moment, except with Noelle instead.
  • Part 2 of Noelle's Hangout Event has the two go to Liyue for a change of pace, taking part in the delicacies and help out a Storyteller come up with a new story. The storyteller proceeds to over-exaggerate Noelle's skills and deeds in the "Maid-Knight's journey through Liyue" much to Noelle's exasperation and embarrassment. She ends up being an overnight celebrity in Liyue, and the Traveler has to help her escape a bunch of autograph seekers as the hangout ends.
  • During one route of Part 2, Noelle creates a Baron Bunny...but it doesn't detonate. The doll will continue its silly dance and contribute nothing while you fend off a swarm of Hilichurls, who all run right past it without being taunted even a little bit.

Hangout with Bennett

  • When strolling in Mondstadt's wilderness, Bennett tries to take the Traveler to some sightseeing spots, only for the Dandelion Field he frequents completely barren of Dandelions. Next, they stumble on a Hilichurl's hoard of chests, with nothing but vegetables and the occasional Mora. Finally, Bennett takes the Traveler to Starsnatch Cliff to go wind gliding only for it to start raining out of nowhere.
    • Bennett's response to the chests bears mentioning. He can't believe what a great haul the two of you have found, since for him all chests only have a single Mora or a cabbage in them.
Bennett: The kind of chests you mentioned that have weapons, artifacts, or some other treasure inside...Aren't they super, super rare?
  • After the rain ruins your gliding plans, Jack from the Adventurer's Guild shows up and tells Bennett that the older adventurers who raised him are asking for him to come and take care of them, since the humidity is making their arthritis act up. Bennett feels obligated to do what he can for them, so he apologizes for having to take off, and departs, ending the hangout. And an instant after it ends...
Paimon: How come the weather suddenly brightened up the second Bennett left?
  • When the Traveler decides to take Bennett out on an excursion, they decide to prepare (suspicious) rations and later in the ruins find that their escape route has been blocked. They also run into Royce, who got trapped in the room ahead, who ran out of supplies and the two are forced to make a choice on who to feed Bennett's food to.

Hangout with Chongyun

  • Some of the clues provided about evil spirits make some not-so-subtle references to Chongyun. Select these options, and he’ll call you out on them.
    • “Lurking in Liyue Harbor is a massive demon that was transformed from a popsicle.”
    • “Someone saw an exorcist with blue hair who is actually a transformed demon.”

Hangout with Sayu

  • Sayu's Hangout Event features a branch where she overeats in an attempt to activate a growth response in her body. Being overfull, however, results in her being caught by the shrine maiden who oversees her. The achievement for getting this ending is framed like something a player would see on the cooking screen, being called "Dish Effect: Mobility Decrease".
  • Sayu's transformation jutsu could use more work, as her outfit's tail sticks out of whatever object Sayu transforms into, which is how the Traveler and Kano Nana was able to find her in the first place. Not to mention that the Traveler tells her that they would have thought she was a barrel and not noticed her if not for the "barrel" having a tail. She had no idea, and chalks the mistake up to her being nervous. Despite being aware of the problem, in a branch where Kano Nana finds her:
Traveler: (Don't tell me she left her tail sticking out again!)

Hangout with Gorou

  • In the "Tactical Retreat" ending, Gorou, as an attempt to embarrass Yae, accuses the shrine priestess of hugging her tail in her sleep and daydreaming of someone grooming her tail, just like himself. The result ends up being an Epic Fail as not only did he just bare his entire hand to Yae, he also didn't come to consider that Yae doesn't have a tail.
    • One of the Traveler's dialogue options after Yae reveals that particular detail is a short and simple response before Gorou calls to retreat: "K.O."
  • The entirety of the "That's, Uh..." route. When the Traveler checks on the Yae Publishing House, they found out that, unbeknownst to Gorou, the Advice column Gorou writes for the "That's Life" magazine gets published under the pen name of "Ms. Hina" (who is basically a genderbent version of Gorou). Not to mention that Ms. Hina's entire fan club has come to the Yae Publishing House in order to tell the whole world about "her". When Gorou comes to turn in his replies, the Traveler desperately tries to hide this fact from Gorou.
    • It should be worth noting that Yae Publishing House went the extra mile and gave Ms. Hina an open cleavage, a large bust, and a dress that prominently shows her figure. They had absolutely no reason to make her Ms. Fanservice but they did it anyway.
  • Apparently Gorou can understand dogs. He explains that he can interpret their barks as some kind of “regional accent”, and he is still rusty with some of the details when listening to Taroumaru.
    • According to Taroumaru’s testimony, Gorou learns the location of the thieves hideout, the reasons for hiding in that specific spot, and how many members were in the gang, the names of the leader and his second in command, AND even their origins. All that information in only four barks. When the Traveler questions this, Gorou ignores the question and gets down to business.
Traveler: You got all that from “woof”?!
    • Trying to help Gorou conquer his inability to deal with people like Yae Miko, the Traveler suggests the two of them do some roleplaying, with the Traveler pretending to be somebody Gorou has trouble dealing with. After Gorou says that he once ran into a merchant and before he knew it he'd been talked into buying way too many things, the Traveler chooses to play the role of a shrewd merchant. At first, Gorou says he needs to buy ten blankets for the troops. Just ten of them. The Traveler tells him it will cost him 20 000 Mora...and Gorou agrees to pay without even hesitating or being taken aback by the price. Genuinely surprised, the Traveler ups the price to 200 000 Mora, which Gorou still thinks doesn't sound too bad; while he says that he doesn't know the prices of these things because he's never been tasked with procuring them before, it's still pretty sad. The Traveler then suggests that they try it with Gorou buying something he's more familiar with. Gorou decides on cake, and the Traveler tells him that one slice of cake will cost him 100 000 Mora. At first Gorou objects on the grounds that a slice of cake costs nowhere near that much....and then he becomes hopeless again.
Gorou: Wait a sec, if you think about this from another angle...A cake that costs 100,000 Mora per slice must be so much better than a regular cake! Lemme see, I've been saving up recently — I think I should have enough...
      Traveler: ???/Hold on.
Gorou: So... there isn't really a kind of cake that costs 100,000 Mora per slice?
      Traveler: I really don't think so.../I... don't know...
      Gorou: What a shame.

Hangout with Beidou

  • One branch in this event has the Traveler fill in for a photography instructor who was unable to make it to a class for the crew. The Traveler is asked to demonstrate, and proposes using Beidou as a model. Beidou's reaction is astonishingly out of character given her reputation. Turns out that the boisterous and indomitable Beidou happens to be Kamera shy.
    • Later, once Beidou and the Traveler have moved somewhere more quiet to help her steady her nerves, she asks them what kind of pose to strike. One of the suggestions the Traveler can make (and is required for one of the endings)? Flirtatious. Beidou completely loses her composure, and the Traveler takes advantage of the opportunity to snap a few pictures of her.

Hangout with Ningguang

  • One branch has Ningguang taking a day off after the Traveler schedules it for her. When asked what she's normally unable to do for time reasons, Ningguang brings up her Liyue Millennial chess game project, with her newest edition planned to be based on the battle against Osial. The Traveler asks if they're going to be a piece, and Ningguang affirms with a surprising allusion to video game releases—she plans to make the Traveler piece a limited-edition pre-order bonus for the game to make more money.
  • One branch features Ningguang meeting with a businesswoman who paid an arm and a leg for a lunch date. Since the Traveler accompanies, the first thing the lady asks is if they and Ningguang are "close" in the way rumors suggest, though Ningguang doesn't play into that implication, instead clarifying that the Traveler is a national hero who has her respect. The guest then mentions how notable it is for Ningguang to have taken in someone else to her personal inner circle next to Beidou, and Ningguang responds by emphasizing how Beidou is a massive headache to her in a way that can be taken as rather deflective.
  • The whole thing begins with Ningguang's three secretaries all being assigned to an important auction the following day, leaving nobody to do their regular jobs tending to Ningguang. After you show up and they all agree that you'd be able to fill in nicely, one of the secretaries describes what you'll need to do the next day, including 133 different things which need taking care of. To say it sounds overwhelming would be an understatement. When it comes time to choose between "Alright. Time to make a serious effort," and "Alright. Time to avoid anything complicated," choosing the latter results in the Traveler writing out the following schedule, reprinted here from start to finish in its entirety: "One day off!" And that's how you get to the first branch mentioned.
  • The same secretary mentioned in Chapter 1, Act 3 is still smitten with her boss.
Baishi: My usual job is to be her right hand, to maintain her image, and take care of all her worries. For example, arranging her daily schedule, picking out clothes for her... dressing her, applying her perfume...
Traveler: Your eyes are really sparkling right now.../Are you in a trance, or?
Baishi: Ahem. You misunderstand me. I am simply trying to impress upon you the sheer importance of the work you will be undertaking!
Ningguang: Baishi has always been very passionate about her work. I can leave any task in her capable hands and rest assured that her performance will be nothing short of exemplary. I'm sure she was simply trying to share some of her enthusiasm, in the hopes that you may find it infectious.
    Baishi: Th—Thank you, Lady Ningguang!

Hangout with Shikanoin Heizou

  • Upon meeting Heizou, the detective assumes Paimon to be the Traveler's Voice (which is a different version of a Vision) since the Traveler themselves doesn't talk much, to which Paimon objects and declares herself as emergency food before realizing her slip of tongue.
  • For the Itto route, both endings have Hilarity Ensues.
    • Heizou recruits Itto for his PSA play to play a guard. Ittou accepts because Heizou promised him a special Onikabuto. Itto turns out to be the only one who hasn't even read the script, so Heizou has to improvise his narration to guide Itto.
    • The plot of the play is very simple: A woman and her grandfather try to convince a guard (Itto) to give them money with very ridiculous excuses, like ransom money for the Raiden Shogun, a limited edition of Ms. Hina merchandise, and a lot of Onikabuto. Itto can't even remember that they are supposed to be playing a PSA to warn people about scams, so he almost ends up falling for them before thinking hard.
    • If the Traveler tells Itto to distrust the scammers, by the end of the play, he realizes that Heizou's Onikabuto was just a realistic model, not a real one, which prompts to Heizou and the Traveler get chased by an angry Itto.
    • If the Traveler tells Itto to "follow his heart" to discover the scam, Itto instead makes a very Insane Troll Logic and concludes that the three lies were obviously scams because a guard's check is not enough to pay for any of those things, and instead he thinks THE GUARD is the scammer. After all, this woman and her grandfather come into the police station offering him all of these things if he'll give them hundreds of thousands of Mora, and he just happens to have a check for that amount even though he doesn't make very much? Nope, something's fishy, that check must be a worthless fake! Itto decides that it would be wrong for his character to take advantage of these fine people, and thus refuses to give them the "fake" check, vowing to help them only when he has enough real money for them. Heizou decides to just roll with it, later adding that the real scammers were the other two characters. In the end, Itto feels bad because he is dumb enough to fall for any of those scams, and Heizou tells him that anyone, even himself, could be victims of scams, since he also ended up buying a fake Onikabuto to make him feel better with himself.
Heizou: And so, in his own bizarre way, Doushin Arataki managed to avoid getting scammed.

Hangout with Kuki Shinobu

  • When Shinobu is told by the gang that they put flyer in the Narukami Shrine, she understandably doesn't want to go there but does so anyway due to having to clean up their mess due to them being scared of Miko. Thus the traveler and Shinobu have to either help the shrine maiden cleaning up the flyers (who is Shinobu's sister) or work as shrine maidens for the day.
    • If choosing to work as shrine maidens, Shinobu is quick to say that she won't be dressing up as one, which Miko and the Traveler express disappointment toward, much to her frustration.
    • After finishing the shrine maiden job, Miko gives the Traveler and Shinobu some payment. Shinobu's payment is some mora. The Traveler's payment? A photo of Shinobu in shrine maiden attire.
  • On the route to teach the Arataki Gang a lesson, the Traveler suggests setting some guidelines for them which Shinobu agrees with. The moment they turn, they notice the entire gang has bailed on them prompting the two to hunt them down.
    • With each gang member found, Shinobu develops a bylaw based on the problem they just caused and the punishment that comes with it.
    • When the Traveler finds Akira, they can choose to either bring him into Shinobu or let him hide. If the former is chosen, they bring Akira to Shinobu who prepares to explain the bylaws, prompting Akira to attempt to run away again. Shinobu wasn't having it.
Shinobu: Huh? Gang Bylaws, Article 3: Insubordination shall be punished by making the member recite all the bylaws from memory!
  • If the Traveler allows Shinobu to beat up the gang for their transgressions, they will later spy on her talking with Kujou Sara and another woman who they assume to be a staff of the Shogunate, prompting them to tell Itto and work on undoing the damages they caused in an effort to keep her from leaving them. Later, after they start setting up a farewell party believing they couldn't convince her, it is revealed that the arrangement was simply for marketing between Liyue and Inazuma, with Shinobu being involved because of her knowledge on the laws of both nations, and the person she was working with giving the gang some medical supplies. Shame two of the members decided to bring up things they stole from Shinobu.

Hangout with Kaveh

  • In the route where Kaveh tries to seek advice from his mother's diary, he and the Traveler stumble upon an argument between his mother's former mentor and Cyrus, Cyno's adoptive father (and saviour for those who managed to catch Cyno's conversation with Lisa during the 3.5 Windblume event about how he was initially brought into the Akademiya as a test subject) and ex-Spantamad Sage, over a missing vegetable. Cyrus even cracks an unfunny joke in the same way Cyno does, earning an exasperated sigh from his fellow Akademiya retiree.
Zaha Hadi: My tomato was growing so well — it had all the potential to become the best tomato this year... And you cut it straight from the vine!?
Cyrus: I already told you, I had nothing to do with it! Why would I take a tomato that's still weeks from ripening? You'd have to be awfully "green" as an investigator to think it was me.
    Zaha Hadi: ...
Cyrus: You see, the word "green" here could refer both to the color of the tomato, and the fact that your skills could use some—
Zaha Hadi: Enough nonsense. Just come out and face me, you coward!

Hangout with Yun Jin

  • In one route, you ask her to help you become an actor. At first she tries to get you to relive the battle against Osial, to think back to the battle and to pretend to feel the same emotions you felt during the fight. But she doesn't find your performance convincing. You point out that you don't have much experience to draw on since not even someone like you ends up in battles like that very often. Yun Jin concedes the point, and suggests you try to "replace" the experience you're unfamiliar with with one that happens more often. As an example, she says that perhaps you need to act in a scene where you grieve the death of a loved one, but that you've never suffered such a loss before. In that case, she tells you to imagine instead that you've worked very hard to get to a treasure chest, only to find nothing but radishes and cabbages inside. The one and only response you can give is "Oh, the pain! The pain of it all!" Yun Jin finds this performance to be much better.
Yun Jin: Ah! Now you're catching on.

Hangout with Lynette

  • When Lynette uses the Fateometer to try and decide what to do with Bonnie, the device instantly breaks on her. Though Lynette thinks it's a design flaw, the Traveler isn't so sure of that since Lynette is Hopeless with Tech.
  • In this Hangout, you can help Lynette by: pursuing one of the people responsible for Lynette's sad backstory, or you can help her with some troubles with a play in which she was acting...or you can simply enjoy the rest of the day and enter "Standby Mode". Doing this nets you the ending of this branch and awards the player with the achievement: "Speedrun".
    Miscellaneous Lore
  • Often, the little touches characters add to their Specialty Dishes can be gut-bustingly hilarious.
    • Amber's Outrider's Champion Steak! It's a steak alright. But Amber doesn't quite seem to realize that you need to flip a steak to cook it, and so it's described as having one side be slightly burnt, and one side being completely raw.
    • Bennett's Teyvat Charred Egg, on the other side of the spectrum, is a simple over-hard fried egg, overcooked to the point of charring a little bit around the edges, and a little pin shaped like Bennett's signature thumbs-up. The kid is certainly trying.
    • Xingqiu's All-Delicacy Parcels are said to be of artisanal quality, but are specifically noted to be strangely lacking the carrots that went into the Crystal Shrimp.
    • Lisa's Mysterious Bolognese, in a similar vein, is a plate of spaghetti with a strange purple sauce that might just be infused with magic itself. And, as Lisa is a vegetarian, the meat that normally goes into the dish is visibly missing with no explanation as to where the meat went after it was cooked.
    • Yanfei's "My Way" is Crab Roe Tofu... meticulously separated out into several solid blocks of tofu floating amidst a pool of crab roe sauce. Yanfei alleges that she did this "according the 'Crab Roe Tofu Laws' in the recipe, with not a single letter omitted."
    • Sucrose's Nutritious Meal (V. 593) is a Crab, Ham & Veggie Bake that's been meticulously optimized for nutrition, and thus uses vegetable juice rather than whole vegetables. This has rendered it an unsettling avocado green, with the crab roe arranged overtop to look like a Hypostasis shell.
    • Raiden Shogun doesn't cook and is incapable of doing so. Even characters who don't cook well such as Amber who undercooks her steak and Bennett burning his eggs can cook other dishes, the Shogun cannot at all. However:
    • Kujou Sara's specialty dish is noted to be unfit for Sara's taste, being a sweet egg roll snack. Unlike other characters with affiliations, her specialty dish does not bear the symbol of the Kujou clan, but that of the Shogunate. According to Raiden's voice lines, her favorite food happens to be desserts. This means Sara's specialty dish is actually Ei's, outsourced to Sara, her general, because Ei cannot cook. Talk about "not part of the job description!" This also means Ei deprives Sara of the chance to make a specialty dish for herself.
    • Mona's Der Weisheit Letzter Schluss (Life) is a carbon copy of a Satisfying Salad with a few extra fruits on the side. It's subtle, but if you look at the plates the salad is actually smaller than a regular Satisfying Salad because Mona likely couldn't afford the bigger ingredients.
    • Heizou's The Only Truth is a spin on Katsu Sandwich. In line with Heizou's habit of not playing by the rules, the resulting dish bypasses the sandwich aspect entirely, being a katsudon bowl instead.
    • Xinyan's Rockin' Riffin' Chicken is a spin on Jueyun Chili Chicken, except it's lit on fire.
    • Arataki Itto's Way of the Strong is a Mixed Yakisoba which he has stuffed between two slices of bread and topped with an unknown red sauce. In short, he turned a serving of noodles into a hot dog. While this combination sounds weird for western players, Yakisoba pan is actually a very popular sandwich in Japan, which matches with Itto having a more childish taste compared to the other adults from Inazuma.
    • Qiqi's dish seems pretty normal, being a minor variation of the Come and Get It dish. Except Qiqi has no sense of taste. And the dish is called No Tomorrow. The implication writes itself.
    • Shimi Chazuke, Wanderer's take on Unagi Chazuke, is delicious. In fact, it's so good that you inhale the entire portion, wondering how he managed to cook something so good — a question that is written all over your face, apparently, since it makes Wanderer order you to stop gawking and go wash the dishes.
    • Keqing's specialty? Her version of Grilled Tiger Fish "Survival Grilled Fish". The catch? It's not grilled, it's cooked with her Electro energy, and instead of being cut and shaped into a cute fish skewer, the fish is whole and slightly charred. Surprisingly it tastes good.
    • Tartaglia's specialty, "A Prize Catch" is his own version of Calla Lily Seafood Soup, and is supposed to be a decadent seafood soup, but instead looks like a sea monster because of the messy tentacles in the bowl, described as if it was literally murdered in the bowl. Tartaglia replies with a smile and explains that it's just fresh seafood with some touches from his country.
    • Cyno's Special Dish is named “Duel Soul”, which is a rice pyramid with the Eye of Wdjat, just like the Millennium Puzzle. Considering that Cyno's design is heavily inspired of the main character, loves playing Trading Card Games, and his origins are tied to the ancient pyramids in Sumeru, the connection is quite evident.
    • Tighnari's specialty "Forest Watcher's Choice" is his own version of Mushroom Hodgepodge, which is basically a mushroom salad. What sets it apart is that Tighnari chose the mushrooms himself (keep in mind that he tends to test all the weird mushrooms on himself) and didn't add condiments, meaning that he only cut the raw mushrooms and arranged them in a pretty plate.
      • It's even funnier considering that the original recipe is an adaptation from the Aranara cuisine, which lacks of flavor and technique. All the recipes were so insipid that Paimon and the Traveler had to rearrange a lot of stuff, like adding the seasonings and cutting the ingredients.
    • Alhaitham's Special Dish is his own interpretation of the Sabz Meat Stew, which he calls "Ideal Circumstance", which instead of being a meat stew, looks more like a meat and vegetable pizza. It becomes more funny when he says in his "Least Favorite Food" line that he doesn't like soups because it's difficult to read while eating them.
    • Kaveh’s specialty is called “The Endeavor” because he manages to create a miniature Palace of Alcazarzaray using biscuits. Unfortunately, he fails to recognize that the biscuits are edible meaning all his effort was for nothing.
    • Neuvillette’s specialty: “Consomme Purete”, is a Consomme made with special water, which, according to him, “was specifically selected the purest, chilliest waters from the highest mountains.” It tastes the same as a regular Consomme.
    • Wriothesley's "Secret Sauce BBQ Ribs" are lamb chops arranged nicely with a mystery sauce that looks like a crime scene, coupled with chains decorating the plate. When cooking, Wriothesley told everyone to get out of the kitchen with the excuse "Feel free to leave, but I'm staying! Things are heating up in here, and it could blow!", making it sound like he is going to war. After completing the Archon Quest, the "mystery sauce" becomes even funnier after finding out that the bottles full of blood-like liquid were experimental Fonta flavors.
    • Arlecchino’s special dish “Hearthfire's Trail” is a bloody-looking rendition of Steak Tartare, and placed on a toast with sweet corn. If it weren’t enough that the dish is basically minced raw meat, Arlecchino manages to make it look even scarier by marking it with a deep red sauce in the shape of an X, just like how her attacks look.
      • That said, if you look at it sideways, said sauce appears to be a dead ringer for Ketchup for all things, which combined with the thick square toast and sweet corn, almost makes it look like her attempt at a kid's meal version of Steak Tartare. She really is a father at heart.
  • The Teyvat Travel Guide contains diary sections written by Klee's mom, Alice. As lengthy as they are, this book shows where Klee got her destructive tendencies from. From the book's Mondstadt sections, Alice is basically a Comedic Sociopath who uses hilichurls in her explosive experiments, which while horrifying to the poor hilichurls, the game still plays most of these for laughs, leaves out any gory details, and focuses on Alice's ridiculous reasoning, findings and observations more than the consequences of her actions (which were mostly failed experiments).
  • Teyvat has a law that prohibits drunk gliding, as the sixth text in the Gliding Instruction Manual mentions "Don't drink and glide!"
  • According to the Gliding Instruction Manual, Alice blasted an Anemo Slime just to create a wind current that she could glide up on and perform stunts in mid-air. Even though the crowd cheered for Alice, she was given a 10-day detention from Jean.
  • The "Knights of Favonius Handbook - Fifth Edition" contains a long set of guidelines that include prohibiting certain derogatory phrases in order to maintain the image of the organization. However, for some reason, it also includes having Knights advertise businesses and tourist destinations. There's also something that crosses this with heartwarming: Noelle is so bad at refusing requests for help, that Jean added a section forbidding knights from unloading their work onto her. Otherwise, the punishment involves reduced vacation allowance and/or salary deductions.
  • There's something hilarious about archons like Zhongli and Venti living a normal life, especially when none of their people suspect it. Ever funnier in the former case where the Geo Archon listens to stories about himself from Tea Master Liu Su!
  • Sometimes, weapon descriptions can also be chuckle-worthy:
    • The entire item description for the Dark Iron Sword narrates that the sword became dark-colored because someone "sun-tanned" it by letting it lie on the ground. It then ends nonchalantly with this sentence:
"That's right! Coal, or carbon, is what makes iron stronger. But I figure I can just darken the sword by tanning it instead."
With that, he flipped the sword to the other side.
      • Speaking of, the fact that you can only get the Dark Iron Sword (a unique item mind you) by talking with a random fish merchant of all people is utterly ridiculous.
    • The lore of the 3-star Sharpshooter's Bow starts dramatically with the tale of an archer who vowed to not wash his feet until his enemies were defeated. As a result, the bow is stated to "give off a strong scent." Furthermore, the lore ends off by saying:
"And so, the great archer fell prey to a foot infection."
    • The Otherworldly Story catalyst is one massive Take That! towards the isekai genre, with the lore entry describing a ridiculously over-the-top sci-fi/fantasy world "as groundless as it is meaningless." This is reflected by its special ability, which restores a measly 1% of health for every Elemental Orb collected. And at max refinement? 2%. The item description really says it all:
A cheap fantasy novel with no value whatsoever. Any claim that it possesses the power of catalysis is also pure fantasy.
  • The Red Pine Wood Round Stool is a simple furniture, but its item description says that it "can also be used as a stand to hammer nails in, a book pad, a place to dry meat, or even for self-defense".
  • Klee's 2021 birthday mail is about Klee sneaking off without Jean noticing. And she went to a place where Jean couldn't find her: The Primo Geovishap's cave. Not only did she somehow obtain a Juvenile Jade (the boss' special drop) from it, she also went from Mondstadt to Tianqiu Valley in Liyue followed by running too far that she required the Traveler's assistance to pick her up. Even funnier when you realize she sent the message via mail and it had to take a few days before it got to the Traveler. The only reason this doesn't fall under Fridge Horror is that she's not stuck in an area full of monsters, they're stuck with her.
  • Ayato's talent "Kamisato Art: Daily Cooking", reveals that he is as much of a Lethal Chef as Hu Tao, just for fun, which means that he can cook fine (as seen with his specialty dish), but prefers to make horrible cooking on purpose. According to his voice lines and his Collected Miscellany video, he sees cooking as a hobby, and for him the taste is secondary, because he enjoys more watching people's faces when they face any kind of strange combination he comes up with. He also seems to have made an habit of sending a sample of all his strange food to Thoma.
Ayato: Hmm... it looks like I mixed up my salt and my sugar. Savory Mizu Manjuu. Yes, this can work. I'll give them to Thoma.
  • Cyno’s character seems to be based on Yami Yugi. Both are short badasses with Egyptian inspiration, love playing “Children’s Card Games”, and Cyno’s Special Dish is named “Duel Soul”, which is a rice pyramid with the Eye of Wdjat, just like the Millennium Puzzle. On top of all that, Cyno is prone to lame puns, just like the Pharaoh.
  • Charlotte's 2024 birthday mail is titled "SOS..." and it's about how her colleagues at the Steambird decided that not only to do an exclusive interview with her, but also follow her around and basically document her life for the next year. Her response was to say she needed to go to the bathroom, escape via the window, and then hide out at Euphrasie's. Problem is, now she's stuck there and she wants the Traveller and come bail her out, promising to pay them back with whatever dinner they want, no matter how expensive. Of course, considering Paimon's appetite, she should probably have thought that through a bit more...

    Webcomic
  • Surprised at how the Ludi Harpastum festival changed so much, Venti interrupts and sarcastically mocks Lordling Barca from picking up the Harpastum:
Barca: How dare you! That's my ball, you foul peasant!
Venti: I can't find your name on the ball.
