Funny / Gamera 2: Advent of Legion

Go To

  • When Honami brings Obitsu and Watarase to her home, which is part of her parents' pharmacy, her father tries to follow them. His wife nonchalantly pulls him back to the counter while still speaking to a customer, and then the second time she pulls him away from the stairs.
  • In the ADV gag dubs, there are several, from serious characters spouting complete gibberish to an adult having the voice of a child, the voice actors at ADV really had a lot of fun with this. Also, In Lake texarkana, Jay Hickman gives Watarase a voice that sounds a lot like Bill Clinton, for some reason, and most of the other voices sound like rednecks, but that's the point anyway, so...
    • Lake Texarkana. Everything about the Lake Texarkana dub.
      • During the scene where the JSDF are looking for survivors in the subway and see the Legion through binoculars.
Hanatani: What the hell is that?
Watarase: When we first came down here, we was looking for some kind of Possum, or maybe some Raccoons, something to eat, but instead we got these little skeeters.
        (Beat)
Hanatani: Well okay, but what the hell is that?
      • At the strategy meeting.
General: Thank you for that report. Watarase, your turn.
Watarase: Thank you Captain Dipshit! Alright gentlemen, our enemy...is a bunch of assholes...with absolutely no regard for our creature comforts. In other words, if we let them run ramrod, we're screwed! So for the sake of all of us, we gotta kick their asses [points to two location markers on a map] with the help of these red dots.
      • The military managing to sum up the movie with a status report on the kaiju battle.
Hanatani: Turtle is pissed. He's out tryin' to rip that big skeeter a new one!
      • Every single scene of people in peril has the exact same clip of a man yelling "Holy crap!" in it at least once and, even after the viewer begins to expect it, it just keeps getting funnier every time it shows up. It even manages to loop around and become strangely heartwarming as its final use is at the vigil for Gamera, when he reawakens to continue the fight with Legion.
      • All the major scene transitions being accompanied by music stings played on harmonica.
    • In the outtakes:
      • The General is saying his lines completely seriously, but he has the voice of a child (who sounds like Alphonse Elric, to be honset). Doubly funny given no one ever reacts to it.
        General: Speed and direction, corporal?
      • Another one, with normal voices.
Hanatani: They're going to help the big one against Gamera, sir. He has no chance against them both together! You've got to assist him, sir!
General: And why would we give a monster our help?
        Hanatani: Because I love him!
