• Mae and George being oblivious to how they feel about living together:
  Linda: [on Skype] How's cohabitation?
  George: Oh, bit of an adjustment—
  [simultaneously with]
  Mae: It's so great! [They glance at each other]
• Linda informing Mae, on the same call, that the reason Mae can't sleep is because she was born four weeks premature.
  Mae: [startled] Was I?
  Linda: You were in an incubator, sweetheart. It's why we're not close.
  Mae: [even more startled'] ... Are we not close?!
• More or less anything Linda says.
  Linda: [Skyping again with Mae, who is sitting in a dark room with only one light] Darling, can you please turn the light on, I feel like I'm talking to a sex offender.
  Mae: [turns on the light] Can I ask you something, mum? Am I needy?
  Linda: In general? Yes. Why else would my body have expelled you four weeks premature. You were literally sapping my resources.
• The scene where Linda and Mae ride on the Ghost Train and Linda delivers to her daughter a long, angry and very serious The Reason You Suck speech, but Mae is continually distracted by all the scares that keep looming out of the darkness, while Linda doesn't even notice them.
  • When it's over, Linda refuses to get off the train, announcing that she's going round again because "I need to chill out."
