  • Chapter 1:
    • Team RWBY's reaction to seeing Happy for the first time.
Ruby: Guys... that cat has wings.
Blake: Ruby, that cat is talking.
Yang: Oh, good, you guys can hear it too. I thought it was just me who was going insane.
  • Chapter 2:
    • Erza's attempt at waking up Ruby's teammates involves a very large hammer. That can set itself on fire. According to her, she uses this method successfully on Natsu and Gray.
    • Ruby is, of course, drooling over the weapon until she remembers what its purpose is.
Ruby: No, wait! You'll kill them! Well, you'll kill Weiss and Blake. You'll make Yang mad!
    • So instead, Erza reluctantly lets Mirajane wake them up with a less life-threatening, but more cruel method... tickling them awake with a feather.
  • Mirajane is a sweet person and a proud member of Fairy Tail... and apparently an absolutely scary teacher when it comes to Take-Over Magic. Just ask her siblings and Blake.
    • During one flashback of her training while she's doing research in the library, Blake desperately wishes for some kind of distraction; cue Sun greeting her with his usual attitude. Blake happily tackles him to the ground and thanks him, leaving him confused.
    • Blake works up the courage to show the Strauss siblings her cat ears. Mirajane's first reaction? Squee and begin enthusiastically petting them.
  • Chapter 3:
    • In one flashback, Team RWBY tries sneaking out to go after Tartaros, only to find their routes blocked off. And when they finally try to use the front door, Erza is already prepared. Cue swiveling of a black chair to reveal her glaring at the girls while stroking a certain white cat. Carla is not amused.
Carla: Is this really what you needed me for?
Erza: Of course. Dramatically revealing yourself on a chair is always more intimidating while holding a white cat. It is a true actor of the theatre that understands the unison of their props!
Carla: I am not a prop!
    • Weiss is so excited about the prospect of using magic in their first tournament fight that she actually lets out a Squee. Needless to say, the others are creeped out, even wondering if Juvia had poisoned her.
    • At first, they agree not to use magic for the fight, citing it would be unfair for the other teams... but it turns out Ruby is the only one who remembered to reload her weapon with Dust. Crosses into awesome, though, when Team RWBY makes a smokescreen to hide their magic attacks and still wins the fight.
  • Weiss received training in Ice Make (and later discovered she can do Ice God Slayer Magic) from Gray. Only problem is that his training regimen involves her learning on top of a frozen mountain. In her underwear. Needless to say, the first the heiress hears this, she is... less than pleased.
    • Not to mention, there's someone even unhappier with this arrangement: Juvia. Weiss swears that she can feel a presence of murderous hatred and spot something blue amid the snow, but Gray tells her to pay it no mind.
    • Later on, it turns out that a side-effect of said training is that Weiss has picked up Gray's habit of unconsciously stripping more than once in the story. She takes to adding duct tape on the inside of her clothes.
  • Blake later on asked Levy if she wouldn't happen to have any... mature novels like her Ninjas of Love series. Sadly, Levy bluntly stated that she doesn't read any filth like that. Luckily, though, Erza was a different story...
  • In Chapter 15, it turns out Carla's rather... cautious of Zwei, especially after all the horror stories the sisters have told her. Mentioning him alone makes her freeze up:
Carla: Zwei? The dog that defeated two mechanized war robots? The one that demolished five buildings? He's real? I thought Ruby and Yang just made him up.
Taiyang: Well, Oobleck helped with the robots. The buildings were all him though. Qrow wanted to test his effectiveness as a siege weapon and he went a little wild.
Carla: And according to my future vision, he'll be coming into this room any second... You know, perhaps we should unlock my Aura upstairs? I can fly, maybe freeing my soul from a higher altitude will help unlock my semblance faster.
  • Chapter 17
    • The chapter's flashback takes place in the Fairy Tail guildhall's billiards hall which lends itself to some fun gags. To start, Gray watches Erza and Bisca play a game and mulls over that Macao and Wakaba were taking bets both on who would win and how much property damage would be incurred before it was over. He was down for a hundred jewels on Bisca.
    • Soon after Weiss plops down next to him exhausted and mentions that Ruby dragged her there despite only having 'figured out' how to play billiards from watching Natsu. We then cut to Wendy desperately trying to convince Ruby that billiards is nothing like baseball.
    • Later on, Wendy tries to get Ruby to cough up the chalk tip she had somehow gotten stuck in her throat.
    • At the end of the chapter, after Weiss and Gray have a heart-to-heart about the nature of forgiveness and how Weiss will never end up like her father, the two prepare to play a game themselves, leading to this exchange...
Weiss: "Don't expect me to go easy on you just because you're my teacher."
Gray: "Wouldn't dream of it. There's no fun if there's no challenge."
Weiss: "Oh really? You think you can take everything I can dish out?"
Gray: "I know I can. Doesn't matter how hard you pound me; I'll just turn it right back around on you."
Weiss: "I'd like to see you try. If you don't take your pants off with your first shot."
      Offscreen Juvia: "Stop flirting!"
  • Chapter 23's flash back is full of these.
    • Ruby and Weiss are chatting with Levy, taking advantage of Blake's absence to break her monopoly on Levy's library. Weiss is snatching up each book happily, while Ruby isn't as interested because she's been craving a good comic to read. Weiss is unamused, voicing her dislike of comics for a single, simple reason...
Weiss: "Since every single one decided to make a carbon copy of my family's company a bad guy."
Ruby: "What? That's ridiculous. I mean sure, there's the Snow Dust Company, the Sch-neh Dust Company, the Schne Dust Company–wow, I don't know how I never noticed that."
Weiss: "Exactly! It's blatant libel! My father may be a horrid piece of filth, but I searched the entire mansion for secret doomsday lasers and never found anything!"
    Gajeel: "Duh, they're secret."
    • During the above, Gajeel and Wendy are playing a game of Checkers to pass the time. Wendy wins.
    • Erza, of course, overhears the conversation turn toward superheroes and takes the chance to interject with a monologue about Fairy Woman. Ruby, excited at the prospect of there being a real-life superhero in Magnolia, asks if Fairy Woman would let her be her sidekick. Of course, given Fairy Woman's true identity...
Weiss: "Ruby, Fairy Woman is literally just Er–"
    Mira: "Let them have this."
    Weiss: "But it is obviously–"
Mira: "Some things hold more power because they are believed in than because they are true."
  • Chapter 38
    • We get this gem of a conversation during the chapter's opening flashback while Weiss is showing off her Ice God's Vacuum Aias to Team RWBY and the Strongest Team.
Weiss: "It's science. Magic may be a parallel facet of the universe, but even its creations must obey the laws of physics."
Ruby: "I've got lasers in my eyeballs."
Blake: "And I'm pretty sure my powers play jump rope with the laws of conservation of energy and mass."
Weiss: "The creations of magic that aren't supernatural themselves. Fire is still fire, whether it comes from a match, a man, or a dragon."
Natsu: "I'd like to test that theory! I'll burn that vacuum to ash!"
Weiss: "There's nothing to burn! The point of a vacuum is that there's nothing there!"
Gray: "Don't bother, Weiss. Flames for Brains here has never put much effort into understanding anything he couldn't shove down his stomach."
  • Chapter 44 is a pretty tense chapter between Raven getting a lot to think about for the things she's done and the heroes and villains preparing for the battle at Haven, but there's still a lighthearted moment where everyone teases Ruby for her saying "nope" all the time.
  • In Chapter 52, Lucy and Gray discover that Erza was released from her Fairy Sphere eighteen years before them and has a daughter. Their reactions? Lucy falls into despair over the fact that Erza doesn't appear to have aged a day (which the redhead proudly attributes to "good diet and exercise") while Gray is practically catatonic at the prospect of there potentially being another Erza in existence.
Gray: Erza time-travelling... Millions of Erzas across time and space...
    • Erza also catches him in the attempt of poking Pyrrha with an ice stick.
  • Chapter 64
    • Carla having to deal with Qrow and Raven's sibling bickering while they're all desperately trying to dodge the horde of ancient Grimm guarding Salem's castle.
  • Chapter 65
    • Irene's outrage when she discovers that Salem has modified her Universe One spell without her permission is pretty funny, especially as it slowly shifts into grudging respect once she actually examines the Universe Omega plans.
  • Chapter 70:
    • When Loke asks Lucy how Franmalth was defeated Lucy says that Natsu threw a rock at him much to his incredulity.
