Because it's Dragon Ball, expect a lot of this. In fact a large chunk of the dialogue are characters roasting other characters, especially once you account for the Villains.

     Story Mode
  • Android 21 eating people is nightmarish. Android 21's reaction to eating Frieza, loudly proclaiming that "Clones can't beat the real deal. Go organic!" is hilarious.
  • Possibly accidental, but when the group is first properly introduced to Android 21, Goku loudly shouts "She's 21?!"
  • Piccolo and Vegeta blame one another for Gotenks's cocky and carefree attitude. And just for added measure, Vegeta only blames Goku.
  • In his first link event, Buu offers the Earthling soul some of his candy. But not all of it. Only half. But maybe half is too much. Half of half is better. See, Buu needs all that candy. Buu's a growing boy, after all.
  • When Goku and Cell team up, Goku asks Cell what it was like in hell. Cell describes it as a place filled with misery, sorrow, and "other things". He doesn't divulge any further, but anyone who watched Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' or its saga in Dragon Ball Super can probably imagine...note
    • From the same conversation, it's revealed that Goku wants to end up in hell. Why? Because from what little he's heard of it, it'd be an ideal place for him to train.
Goku: "I have no idea what hell's like. It's a pretty rough place, right? Mean guys everywhere? Hot? I bet it's an ideal place to train. I wanna go there someday... Can you talk to someone, get me in?"
  • A callback to the original Dragon Ball, Goku still has no idea how to talk to women or when something sounds sexual. This results in an EXTREMELY flirty Innocent Innuendo when talking to Android 21.
Goku: When this was over, I was hoping we could have a little one-on-one time.
    21: ...huh?
Goku: You know, a fight! Don't you think it would be more fun to go head-to-head with a good guy rather than a bad guy? It'd be tons of fun to go all out using our full power! Don't you agree?
21: Wow. You truly do love fighting, don't you?
Goku: Yeah, of course! What's not to love?
  • In the beginning of the Enemy Warrior Arc, when Frieza discovers that you’re controlling his body, he threatens to kill you to get it back. You can react in two ways. With an understandably terrified “Wait!” or a surprisingly calm “...I’m going to leave now”. The idea that a simple Earthling can react so stoically to a threat from someone like Frieza is both hilarious and awesome. Even better is the fact that the latter dialogue option is actually the favorable one, with Frieza comending you for knowing your place (the former option just angers him more).
  • If you summon Shenron while playing as Beerus, Shenron will immediately become both terrified and respectful of him, and won't say a word after his initial introduction.
  • Cell is a giant asshat towards his assists. All of his assist call lines are sarcastic, rude, or angry. Even Vegeta and Frieza are more civil towards their own teammates.
  • When Goku and Krillin confront Freiza, Cell, Ginyu and Nappa. Goku is shocked to see all of them. Except Nappa, whose name he can't even remember.
Goku: You're the guy who came with Vegeta to Earth! Nappy, was it?
    Nappa: It's Nappa, you moron!
  • When Gotenks fights alongside Nappa, he finds himself utterly perplexed at the fact that Nappa, a fellow Saiyan, can't go Super Saiyan. He tries to teach Nappa how to go Super, but his instructions don't make a lot of sense and Nappa gets frustrated.
    • Even better, Gotenks tries to explain it all to him in Buffy Speak.
Gotenks: It's really easy. You just need to go "ngh!" Then you go "hah!" and BOOM, you're a Super Saiyan!
      Nappa: Ngh...hah...boom, like that?
Gotenks: Yeah, yeah. Then you just take all that power inside and you make it go BWOOSH!
Nappa: Quit messin' around! If you aren't gonna be serious, then knock it off!
Gotenks: What're you talking about? I AM being serious...
  • Cell rubbing Frieza's loss to Trunks in his face.
    • Related: Frieza meeting Gotenks and grilling him about Future Trunks.
  • When Goku teams up with the Ginyu Force, he asks why they would willingly fight for Frieza, to which Ginyu enthusiastically answers that he gets great health care, high-end armor, and even a chance to rule his own planet. Goku then mentions that Vegeta has a better deal; even without his own planet, he gets to eat and train to his heart's content, and he doesn't even have to work! Ginyu's men are completely gobsmacked at how sweet Vegeta's life is!
    • Also, the fact that Frieza of all people at least gives his soldiers pretty generous employment benefits.
  • When Yamcha is added to the roster during the Enemy Warrior Arc, he gets thoroughly roasted by Frieza, Cell and Nappa. Better yet, Cell's voice actor is trying and failing to contain his laughter during this scene.
  • At the beginning of the Enemy Warrior Arc, Frieza tries to break the Soul Link by attacking the inside of his mind. The scene then shifts to Android 16 and Frieza just standing there with his eyes closed. 16 just wonders if Frieza and the soul inside him were talking to each other or not.
  • If Goku, Vegeta, and Frieza team up, Frieza will comment that he never expected the two of them to fight as his servants. Vegeta replies that he has no intention of being Frieza's servant, while Goku says he doesn't want to do any weird poses like the Ginyu Force. Frieza annoyedly responds that those poses are simply a preference of Ginyu and his men, and by no means standard in his organisation. Goku almost blurts out he got that impression because Vegeta did a pose as well, before an embarrassed Vegeta vehemently denies that he'd ever lower himself to performing something so pathetic.
  • Ginyu considers swapping bodies with Cell due to his high power level, but ultimately decides he can't do it because several of Cell's features are too "frog-like" for him. Even Frieza concedes to his Shell-Shocked Veteran status. Cell, justifiably annoyed, then says:
Cell: I have no clue what you're prattling on about, but keep comparing me to a frog and see what happens.
  • When Frieza and Cell confront Goku, the two villains get into an argument over who should fight Goku first. They both end up throwing shade at each other, with Frieza ribbing Cell for losing to Goku's son, and Cell firing back that Frieza lost to Goku twice. This is even funnier because it's a parallel to a scene where Vegeta and Goku bicker over who gets to fight Frieza from Goku's campaign.
    • Really, Frieza and Cell's interactions in general are hilarious because they utterly despise each other, but it manifests as what can only be described as petty bitching at each other.
  • Cell's reaction to meeting Majin Buu and Kid Buu? Utter annoyance due to how stupid the two are, with the latter falling asleep and Fat Buu being... Fat Buu. The music even stops upon Kid Buu falling asleep.
Cell: Oh what, he's asleep!? You gotta be kidding me...
    • The Kid Buu in question is a clone. Normally they're supposed to be stoic, mindless and destructive, but it appears Kid Buu is biologically incapable of stoicism. This makes sense, as his DNA is completely uncontrollable by any of Gero's methods and this fact caused the entire plot of the game.
    • Related, Frieza's utterly incredulous reaction to Majin Buu, especially since he was warned not to take him on, along with Beerus.
    • Also, in the same scene, Goku has to explain to Buu that while, yes Cell and Frieza are bad, they are not the biggest threat, but he can fight them once they defeat the threat...while standing directly in front of Cell and Frieza.
Cell: What in the hell is he...he's ordering our destruction while we're standing right here! What is this? Some pathetic attempt at psychological warfare?!
  • When the time comes for the final fight with 21, Goku is concerned about causing damage to the planet, so he teleports everyone to the Supreme Kai's world...without telling 21 or even knowing if she'll be able to follow them. Her expression when the entire good guy group just vanishes in front of her is a hilarious mixture of offense and confusion.
  • When Krillin and Gohan run into the Ginyu Force again, Krillin remains less than enthused with their theatrics. Gohan, however, compliments their posing, since he essentially acts the same way as Great Saiyaman. Krillin begins to think that maybe Gohan got his Saiyaman poses from the Ginyu Force, and is quite frightened at the prospect. Krillin then worries that if his daughter Marron were ever exposed to the Ginyu Force, she would start posing too and make a fool of herself like Gohan does.
  • After meeting up with Gohan, Goku suggests fusion to accommodate for them not being back at full power - Gohan is initially excited by the idea, while Goku tries to figure out what the fusion would be called, prompting a Face Palm from Piccolo. Piccolo then points out that if they screw up the fusion they'll just be dead weight and don't have time to practice the technique. Gohan, dejected, laments that he wanted to try out 'that cool pose'. Piccolo is incredulous that Gohan thinks the dance is cool (well, he would, wouldn't he?), but when asked his opinion on the pose, agrees with Gohan. He then notes to himself this is the ultimate proof Gohan is Goku's kid.
  • Gotenks complains that he doesn't want to be "lame like the Great Saiyaman". An insulted Gohan, standing right next to him, shouts that the Great Saiyaman isn't lame.
Gotenks: I don't wanna be lame like the Great Saiyaman. Heroes gotta be cool!
Gohan: L-lame...? Wait a second! Don't think I'm going to let that slide! The Great Saiyaman. ISN'T. LAME!
  • If Krillin and Yamcha team up, the pre-battle cutscene sees Yamcha teasing Krillin on being attracted to Android 21, surmising that female Androids must be Krillin's type. Krillin tries to deny this, but then they both get scared shitless when they realize that Android 18 was listening the whole time. She doesn't say anything, but has a dangerous black aura around her leading Krillin and Yamcha to agree to drop the subject and just focus on the fight.
  • In Yamcha and Piccolo's cutscene, Yamcha spends the entire time making fun of Piccolo for not being Kami anymore. Piccolo gets more and more annoyed, until...
Yamcha: Dear heavenly Kami! Don't let the enemy be too strong! Amen.
Piccolo: I can see why Bulma chose Vegeta.
  • When facing off with Piccolo's clone, Goku proudly brags to Tien about how good the actual Piccolo is in taking care of Pan when Gohan and Videl need a babysitter. Tien quietly tells Goku that he probably shouldn't be proud of that, and that he should maybe stop telling others about it. Guess the writers are fans of Dragon Ball Z Abridged!
  • Gotenks and the Ginyu Force get into a posing contest. When Gotenks poses, he gets criticized for "lack of finesse" and his pose being "basic". Ginyu decides to be nice and give Gotenks' pose a 6, and then Recoome chimes in with "out of a hundred, maybe!"
    • For bonus points, note that when Burter criticizes Gotenks' pose for being basic, he's pulling almost the exact same pose as if to say, "Look, anyone can do it!"
  • Gotenks wonders what he should call Goku and Vegeta (since Goku is Goten's dad, not Trunks', and vice versa for Vegeta). Goku starts to wonder about it too for a moment, before Vegeta chastises them both for getting away from the task at hand.
    • Specifically, Gotenks "kid logic" in asking Goku and Vegeta about it.
Goku: Huh? You're asking me about this?
Gotenks: You're big, so you should help us figure this out.
  • The Ginyu Force takes posing so seriously, they’re offended when their clones don’t do a pose before a fight.
  • A soul-link scene with Nappa has him expressing his shock at how much Vegeta has changed since they first came to Earth, remarking that it only seems like a matter of time before he starts wearing pink or something like that, which is made funnier by the fact Vegeta actually wore pink (a pink shirt, to be exact) in the beginning of the Cell Saga.
Nappa: I'd die before I let that happen! We'll I already died, but you get my drift!
  • A few of Vegeta's soul-link scenes has him actually show a softer side, then try to pass it off as something else. One scene has him call you a Momma's Boy before noting that you probably should have contacted home and let your family know you're alright. Another has him wistfully talking about Trunks and Bulma before realizing what he's saying and quickly sends you on your way and tells you to forget what you heard.
Vegeta: (suddenly realizes what he'd just said) I might as well be reclining in one of those lazy chairs!
  • In Goku's campaign if he and Vegeta fights Frieza, they'll have a childish argument on who's going to fight him. The camera pans to Frieza as he slowly loses his patience with the two Saiyans.
  • When Goku and Yamcha meet Frieza (Yamcha notes that this is the first time he's gotten a good look at the evil emperor), Goku explains to Yamcha that when he's at his strongest, his entire body glows gold like a Super Saiyan. This draws the ire of Frieza, who chastises Goku for comparing him to a Saiyan. Yamcha, justifiably scared, tells Goku that gold is just an all-around "number one" color. Not only did Goku not know this in advance, but this prompts Frieza to call Yamcha "sensible and handsome". Goku promptly gets bored and asks if they can start the fight already.
    • Related to the above, when Freeza is brought aboard Bulma's ship, he initially is clearly checking out Yamcha and smirking. Then Freeza learns Yamcha died to a Saibaman.
  • When Nappa and the Ginyu Force run into a clone of Vegeta, an argument begins over who will fight with the clone. When Guldo points out he should get the chance, as a means of getting even with the real Vegeta for killing him, the music abruptly stops as the rest of the force all agree Guldo's death was his own fault due to his carelessness. Also funnier when you realize everyone except Ginyu has the same reason to want to fight Vegeta.
Guldo: Which side are you on?!
  • The cutscene for when Gotenks and Majin Buu are teamed up has Buu and Gotenks argue about which one of them gets more candy. Eventually, Bulma has to shout at them to stop. Gotenks' response is a defeated "Fine...", while Buu mocks him for getting in trouble.

     Gameplay
  • In the English dub, when Adult Gohan uses his Dragon Dash, he says "I see you!" However, the fandom has come to the conclusion that he is actually exclaiming "SHIIIET!"
  • If you manage to defeat Beerus, his line as he's knocked out is simply "I don't feel like fighting anymore." That's right, you didn't actually defeat a God of Destruction, he just got bored of you and decided to let someone else take over!
    • For a different perspective, you could also choose to take that line to mean you actually defeated Beerus, and he's just coming up with an excuse as to why he's not going to fight anymore to save face (which is very in-character for him).
  • Kid Buu's facial expression during the team's victory group shot is very goofy.
  • If he's teamed up with Kid Buu, Adult Gohan comments on how Buu is not trying to absorb him, and wonders why he's even fighting with him.
  • Most of the game's Dramatic Finishes show some of the most iconic scenes in the franchise such as Goku turning Super Saiyan for the first time, Gohan killing Cell, and Goku killing Kid Buu. Alongside these awesome scenes, the developers felt it necessary to include Yamcha getting killed by a Saibaman. Likewise, if you beat Nappa with Yamcha, he Kamehameha the Saibamen back at Nappa, and... Let's just say vengeance is sweet.
    • On that note, Cell's face during his and Gohan's Dramatic Finish is pretty damn hilarious.
  • Cell cheerfully telling 17 and 18 if they are on his team that he would absorb them again in a heartbeat if his body still could.
  • During her pre-battle quote, Android 18 telling Majin Buu not to turn her into chocolate again.
  • This "rare ritual of Beerus mains."
  • For some reason, the localized version has this team victory quote for Goku when Adult Gohan is on his team:
"Gohan, you've gotten a whole lot stronger. That makes me proud of you...finally."
    • This quote has been changed to "That makes me proud!" instead.
  • In his team victory quote, Vegeta may mock his teammate Nappa for not being able to become a Super Saiyan.
  • Tien's intro has him in a Reverse Arm-Fold, followed by turning and striking a badass pose... and then Chiaotzu photobombs the shot.
  • One of Yamcha's winquotes is to sheepishly say "I survived..." with the same confident smirk he has with all his other winquotes.
  • If Goku Black gets hit by a very strong attack, he will exclaim "CURSE YOU!!!" in the most overdramatic way. It's as if Sean is deliberately overacting as him.
  • If SSGSS Goku is on the same team with Beerus, he thanks him for fighting with him. He then pleads him not to blow them up because they haven't prepared a feast for him.
  • Hit's intro dialogue when facing Bardock features a nice mix of Lampshade Hanging and Self-Deprecating Humor:
Hit: It's like I'm seeing this face everywhere...
  • Goku Black's special intro quote when battling Broly. That is all:
Goku Black: Compared to my anger, yours is nothing but a childish tantrum!
  • Vegito's dialogue with Cell in pre-match quotes shows that, even after all these years, Vegeta is still salty about losing:
    Vegito: You're looking for a warm-up, am I right?
  • Vegito and Zamasu's Dramatic Finish involves the latter undergoing a brief Villainous Breakdown at being bested by a mortal, following by him regaining his composure, making his infamous speech about being the most splendid god, and topping it all off with a Slasher Smile. And then (in a deviation from what actually happened in Super) Vegito punches him right in the face, which causes Zamasu to lose his shit.
  • Pre-Android saga Vegeta's extreme sadism and overexcitement about being an evil bastard in general comes off as this.
  • In battle, Videl calls upon the aid of none other than the invincible GREAT SAIYAMAN! It's every bit as simultaneously awesome and hilarious as you would expect.
    • Special mention to the move "Defender of Love and Justice, Great Saiyaman!"
Great Saiyaman: For justice... and for all things precious! The invincible Great Saiyaman is here!
      Videl: ...That was really lame...
    • There's also the case that Videl can fight against Gohan... while another Gohan is fighting alongside her as the Great Saiyaman... and none of them comment on this.
  • Cooler having a moment of Oh, Crap! when going up against Beerus.
  • Gogeta and Janemba's dramatic finish has the former power down from Super Saiyan Blue into his base form and then transform into a normal Super Saiyan before unleashing his Stardust Breaker. While the purpose is likely simply to remain accurate to the Fusion Reborn movie, it comes off as Gogeta insulting Janemba and rubbing in his victory by implying the monster isn't worth his full power. No wonder Janemba got so angry!
  • Kefla's win animation has her jump toward the camera while raising her fist in the air, followed by her changing to an Oh, Crap! expression as her fusion runs out and Caulifla and Kale plummet to the ground.
  • If Master Roshi encounters DBZ!Broly, he will call him Broccoli in his intro.
  • Even Roshi can't help but take a jab at Yamcha in their team quote
Master Roshi: Try not to die. That's all I got for you, Yamcha.
  • The third hit of Android 21 (Lab Coat)'s light auto-combo consists of her grabbing her opponent and slapping them across the face twice with the second slap sending them flying, the fact that this can KO opponents just makes it even funnier to watch.
