Believe it or not, there are some moments that'll make you laugh, and even if 50% of those moments are of the morbid kind of hilarity.

Warning: Spoilers Off applies to these pages. Proceed at your own risk.

General

  • Akira's tendency to suddenly burst into tears (even after his merger with Devilman) for what outwardly appears to be no reason, baffling humans and demons alike.
  • Taro's Innocently Insensitive moments, from claiming drugs make you power-up to suggesting Miki is only popular because people want to see her "bounce", are endearing.
  • A profound example of Black Comedy applies when you try to summarize the story (and by extension the entire franchise). Basically, the plot revolves around the fact that Satan destroyed the entire world simply because he was jealous of the idea that he'd have to share Akira's attention with other people. Sure, there's other stuff about demons being superior to humans and his whole debacle with God; but when you boil it down, Satan really only cares if Akira survives. It gets even more hilarious when you consider that Satan's logic is so twisted that he doesn't realize that kickstarting the apocalypse and indirectly causing the deaths of everyone Akira ever loved aren't as charming as giving Akira flowers and asking him out on a date. The fact that you can summarize the behavior of such a profoundly evil mythological character with the behavior of a jealous, vindictive girlfriend is hilarious in its own twisted fashion.

Episode 1 - I Need You

  • Ryo's first appearance is rather hilarious. He jumps out of his car, enthusiastically extends his hand to Akira, tells Akira to come with him and interrupts a confrontation between Akira and some hoodlums who had been bothering Miki. When one of the hoodlums complains Ryo flamboyantly pulls a submachine gun from his coat and tells him to be quiet. Akira then runs up to Ryo and the two embrace, with Ryo even twirling Akira in his arms. Ryo shoots at the hoodlums when they once again complain. The two go to leave and Miki protests, telling Akira not to "go with a guy like that". Akira and Ryo leave anyway, speeding off in Ryo's car. Miki angrily tells the hoodlums off and tries to chase the car as one of the young men comments on how fast she runs.
  • A flustered Akira clawing at his torso when a girl at the Sabbath makes him take a drug via mouth-to-mouth.

Episode 2 - One Hand is Enough

  • Akira's transformation after fusing with Amon is shown in the beginning of the second episode by him strutting to school, tearing locked doors open with his bare hands, getting his female classmates to feed him lunch, watching porn in the school's AV room with the volume at full blast, then wowing everyone on the track team with not only his newfound superhuman speed, but his massive, throbbing... horn.
  • Akira realising just before the finish line that everyone's witnessed his bizarre running style, and promptly runs normally... for the last two feet of the race.
  • Taro decides to log into Akira's account on the family computer so he can look up Akira's search history, which includes a search about the "Sabbath" parties. Just as a page of images definitely not suitable for children load onto the screen the family's pet cat strolls over and lays down in front of the computer, blocking Taro's view, much to the little boy's annoyance.
  • Miki is sitting on a balcony video chatting with a photographer named Nagasaki who keeps trying to convince her to take racy photos no matter how many times she says no. Akira's bedroom happens to be right above said balcony. As Akira opens his window for fresh air, he overhears the conversation and decides he does not like it. Akira leaps from the floor above and lands with his face right in the camera with a loud yell, startling Nagasaki who accidentally tosses his phone and ends up falling into a swimming pool while trying to catch it. Miki scolds Akira as he stands on the balcony's railing, glaring over Miki's shoulder. When Miki tries to apologize to Nagasaki, Akira snatches her phone and makes a ridiculous face into the camera before hanging up on the photographer.

Episode 3 - Believe Me

  • After Akira accidentally gets filmed turning into Devilman and slaughtering demons, he is seen shopping at a convenience store. As he waits at the counter for the cashier to ring up his purchase, he leans in close to her face and stares, clearly making her uncomfortable. He then does a quick internet search for his name on his phone, then leans in close to the cashier again, trying to see if he is recognized. As he leaves the store, Akira leans in close to a few bypassers, scaring them off.
  • Taro dressing up Tako (the cat) as the 1970s anime Devilman, of which he's a huge fan. It's as adorable as it is funny. Made somewhat funnier by the revelation that the cat is actually a Devilman too.
  • Upon realizing that Ryo never uses the pool in his apartment, Akira's reaction is to immediately drag Ryo to the pool and push him in it, even though the latter still has a broken leg.

Episode 4 - Come, Akira

  • Akira trolling Taro about why bonito flakes move, inspired by his father doing the same thing to him in the past. Though this eventually becomes a tear-jerker in hindsight when you learn of his parents' fates...

Episode 5 - Beautiful Silene

  • While the scene is also a bit disturbing, it does have some humor. Akira returns home after taking out his frustrations about the deaths of his parents on some demons and is caught leaping up to his bedroom one floor above by Miki. As she and Akira converse on her balcony, it's made clear that Akira is becoming increasingly aroused by Miki's presence. For a brief moment, Akira loses himself to his lust, only to be snapped out of his daze by the family cat suddenly sitting atop his head, from out of nowhere.
    • And in the following morning, after having an Erotic Dream due to his sexual frustrations, Akira wakes up to find that the entirety of the ceiling is covered with his semen. His reaction is appropriately one of disgust.
  • The entire episode is funny when you realize the main conflict began because Ryo advised Akira to vent his frustrations and he ends up encountering Silene.
  • Just after Sirene merges with Kaim and fires Kaim's electrical beam attack at Akira, there's a very brief moment where the audio completely cuts out while Akira gets shocked by the beam, making an expression like something out of a slapstick cartoon... and then, the drop to Judgement begins playing.

Episode 6 - Neither Demon nor Human

  • Ryo's rather awkward conversation with Koda, in which the former not so subtly compares the latter's running style to something that isn't human.
  • While the entire track meet turns into a bloody massacre, there is an athlete who is so absorbed in listening to his relaxing music that he completely misses the entirety of the horrific screaming and death around him. And then he gets squashed by Koda.
  • The very obvious, but very brief, cameo of Donald Trump can bring out a chuckle or two.

Episode 10 - Crybaby

  • Even though the episode is overall soul-crushing, there's some laughs that can be found in the flashbacks to Akira and Ryo's childhood:
    • One flashback has them innocently playing in the snow. While Akira proceeds to make snow angels, Ryo decides to keep lying face-flat in the snow. Then later, Akira does the same thing when they go to the springs.
    • In said springs, some capybaras decided to take a bath as well while Akira and Ryo were still there. Ryo's reaction to seeing them is to brandish his box cutter, and Akira immediately stops him.
  • The way Ryo casually reveals his secret to Akira in the beginning of the episode (at least in the English dub): "You see, I'm Satan."
  • In an utterly dark and depressing finale, another moment also stands out. In the first episode we see Akira's track team coach: a meek guy on a wheelchair. We also see him eat a butterfly with his Overly-Long Tongue. Come the finale when the Devilmen army gathers in response of Miki's final message and we also see the coach there... who steps out of his wheelchair and transforms into a badass, three-armed, dragon Devilman who loudly bellows he's going to destroy the demons. That surely left some viewers jaws hanging.
  • Depending on your sense of humor, you might get a laugh from the ending when you put a certain scene into perspective: when Ryo practically cuts Akira in half, he fails to realize that such an injury is automatically fatal and likely even believes that Akira would survive that — only to find out that no, he didn't. Or, Ryo wasn't even aware that he just bisected Akira and only realizes what he did when he finally bothers to spare a glance at Akira — which is also just as funny in its own macabre way.
