Funny / Demigod Power

Go To

When they aren't saving the world, jetting thrown into love triangles, or chasing down monsters, demigods can actually be pretty funny.

  • Before (and after) getting flirty with each other, a lot of Peter and Veronica's interactions were humorous. Particularly their banter about being in a pretend relationship.
    • During the Rise of the Hierophant plot, Veronica complains that Peter never takes her anywhere nice. Peter retorts with their excursion to Scotland, and Veronica reminds him that Jolon was the one who took him there, and then she loudly bemoans how Peter is cheating on her with another dude.
    • In the same scene, Miranda and Jonathan's tearful reunion scene is full of Mood Whiplash when everyone present is grossed out by their rather public PDA. It becomes even more Hilarious in Hindsight when it'a confirmed that Jonathan and Miranda are Veronica's ancestors.
    • Hell, Veronica's entrance. She steals Peter's moment of glory by whacking a brainwashed Miranda in the head with a baseball bat, and then Peter kicks Miranda into a nearby skyscraper to "make sure she's down."
    • During their first fight with the Hierophant, Veronica performs a Fastball Special with Peter, without warning and to his immense displeasure.
  • Way back in the beginning, Jolon is fighting a son of Zeus (who is flying). He lunges at hkm, and the demigod simply floats out of reach. Jolon's reaction? A dull "I miscalculated."
    • Peter then catches him, and Jolon exclaims thst Peter must be the one leaving skid marks all over camp.
  • Erin being so damn excited to be a part of the quest in The Hand Of Doom. He practically bounces after everyone.
  • Any time Veronica brings out her pies or cakes. At all. No exceptions.
  • When Peter returns from the grave, many characters express some form of shock or joy. Veronica, on the other hand, readily punches him in the face.
  • Damon appears to be a new source of Black Comedy, it seems: In his very first appearance, he bothers Chinatsu at the shooting range and (due to his curse) she accidentally shoots him head. He then pops up seconds later, completely unharmed and laughing about how it tickled.
    • Later, she recognizes Damon from that particular incident and immediately and wordlessly turns around to walk in the opposite direction. There's something about a Professional Killer with no regard for human life being so perturbed by a serial killer that is so damn funny.
  • Jolon apparently bet both Peter and Veronica separately that they would end up together. They realize in the middle of kissing thst they both now owe him money.
  • Drew being the Tagalong Kid for Dream of the Dead was an endless source of much-needed comedy, considering how dark that plot was. The scene where he comically flattens himself two-dimensionally against the seat of the airplane as it takes off is priceless.
    • It gets a callback in Earthfall, when he starts griping about having the fly again.
  • The extremely calm and cool flight attendant who orders the all the undead in the entire airplane to murder the four demigods in Dream of the Dead.
  • One of the BEST scenes in Dream of the Dead is when Kat, Cal and Tempest begin calling Ah Uaynih (an extremely unknown Guatemalan goddess) Jessica because they pretend to forget who she is. It really pays homage to the humor of the original PJO books.
  • Peter gleefully being able to taunt Sentinel to his face because they're in a public place and in their civilian identities.
    • Sentinel's first question when they're alone is to know what exactly Peter's intentions toward Veronica are.
