Funny / Curse of Strahd

Go To

  • Anything relating to Gadolf Blinsky, the toymaker in Vallaki: a portly man in a jester outfit who speaks broken English in a heavy Russian Phonetic Accent, and who doesn't seem to understand that no one wants to buy his morbid, disturbing, or otherwise inappropriate toys.
  • One of the first traps the players are likely to encounter in the castle is a harmless mannequin dressed like the count flying over their heads on a hidden track. It has no practical purpose beyond "Strahd thought it would be funny".
  • In the amber temple, there's a room filled with skulls that takes a fair while to clean out. On the roof, there's a chest glued there by Sovereign Glue (a Legendary magic item that can only be dissolved by another legendary magic item, which is not found anywhere in Barovia). If the players succeed in getting up there by flight or wallclimbing, the floor will vanish once the chest is opened, causing anyone standing there to fall an entire floor down. The chest is empty.
  • Kind of a meta one, but Strahd's wangsting about the pain of his eternal existence and catch phrase "I am the ancient" is rendered hilarious by the fact he's slightly younger than the fully mortal (and in fact less than middle aged) elf that he hangs out with all the time.
  • A good few of the people in Ravenloft's crypt have names that are just downright hilarious, but special mention has to go to Elsa Fallona von Twitterberg, beloved actor (she had many followers), and a certain Mr. Stahbal Indi-Bhak (a truer friend no ruler ever had).
