Fridge Brilliance
  • Both daydream narrations happen during broomstick scenes, perhaps to play off of Harry's natural talent at flying; he's so good on a broom that he literally doesn't have to pay any attention whatsoever to what he's doing and can still succeed. In contrast, Harry must pay attention during the Cribbage match because there are more variables than usual: Queerman's broom-shaking curse, the other players on the field, and the Snitch itself's own advanced flight skills.
  • ...which means that in this version of events, Harry really has "come to Hogwarts in possession of abilities so formidable that (he) feel(s) confident enough to not pay attention!"
  • Harry's infatuation with the Man-Horse fits right into his horse obsession, as his "equine aficionados" were his only entertainment and company in his cupboard.
  • The comically Unreliable Narrator isn't just getting "Harry Potter" wrong, but at least one other reference too. He almost certainly meant to call the Fat Friar "Friar Tuck the Ghost," but instead we hear "Little John the Ghost (demands a song of farts or else)."

Fridge Horror
  • Eleven-year-olds swigging cognac, and getting drunk every day before noon. (Though the lunacy thereof is part of the humor.)
  • Harry wishing his life could be "simple, like Upfish's." Granted, this was surely intended as an ironic joke, for how much trouble poor Upfish undergoes in the movie; but given what Potter fans would learn about Upfish's counterpart in canon, as later books were released, it's almost a Tear Jerker...
