Ten-Four's name is trucker slang (particularly popular in The '70s and early 80s) for "okay, understood, got it." When the Troops find themselves in danger of losing their job, Ten-Four offers to get a job as a truck driver. The Troops desperately seek solitude, hate authority, dislike hanging around in one place for fear someone will eventually get close to them, and tend to romanticize independent loner-types. At the time, long-haul truckers were just beginning to enter popular culture as just that sort of personality. Maybe she named herself Ten-Four not only to convey her brisk, can-do attitude, but because truck driving was always her dream job and the threat of unemployment gave her an excuse to pursue it.
