- The first four stages of Thunder Force VI correspond to the four classical elements:
- Stage 1 features an abandoned city that's been taken over by vegetation, representing Earth.
- Stage 2 is set in a volcano, representing Fire.
- Stage 3 takes place over an ocean before going into it, representing Water.
- Stage 4 has you making a descent from space into a planet's atmosphere, representing Air.
