Brilliance
- In Episode 4, we're treated to a scene where the disciples are told "do not befriend the devil", something Wei Wuxian repeats to Nie Huaisang in the last episode. Notably, in the scene itself, Wei Wuxian is preoccupied by a bird. Who brought the bird in, is explaining it to Wei Wuxian, and therefore isn't paying attention? Oh, right.
- Better yet. Meng Yao is shown to be very preoccupied by the bird as well. Who ends up responsible for some of the more morally gray actions in the series?
- From the same scene, Nie Huaisang explains that it took him several days of tracking his prey. This establishes right out of the gate that Huaisang is patient and clever even as a teenager, both traits that he uses later.
- Slight fridge sadness, but when Wei Wuxian is cooking congee in Yi City, Jin Ling participates. Who was most strongly associated with cooking in-series? That's right, Jin Ling's mother.
Horror
- The last time Nie Mingjue sees Nie Huaisang, it's being held back by the person who has murdered him. He probably died very afraid for his didi.
- During the Massacre at Nightless City, Sect Leaders Yao and Ouyang very clearly kill living people in the scramble to get the Yin Tiger Tally. They never appear to face comeuppance for this.
