Regarding Thurgood's discussion of cockroaches in "Bones, Bugs, and Harmony."
He states cockroaches have a queen, which in untrue of cockroahes. It is true, however, of a close relative of cockroach, which is also a common building pest (and a more destructive one at that); termites.
When Calvin ask if there is a king, Thurgood states "No, only her babies'-daddies." This is actually true of most eusocial insects; Their is one queen and many male drone, which mate with a queen and then dies. One of the few exception is the aforementioned termites, which do have a king.
