• Combat prowess aside, Kyril has proved himself to be a rather talented commander, capable of leading troops into the battlefield. On the surface, this may seem contrary to the stoic, morose hermit he is depicted as throughout the series. That is when you realize that in Bloodborne, "Military Veteran" is one of the origins (or classes from the Souls series) available in the class system of the game. Therefore, it can be inferred that he was a military veteran prior to becoming a hunter of beasts.
  • In the game, a Player Character that chose the "Military Veteran" origin starts with high Strength and Skill stats, but with low Bloodtinge and Arcane stats. This expains why his primary weapons of choice are the Saw Cleaver and the Holy Moonlight Sword, both of which scale with Strength and Skill stats.
  • Kyril's preference for hardtack, a standard ration for militaries, lends credence to this interpretation.
• Aside from the unspecified Time Skip that the four apprentice hunters go through to "git gud", another plausible reason as to why they become effective fighters that fast is because the weapons they use are the same ones Kyril used during the Night of the Hunt. Bear in mind that not only are his stats (Vitality, Strength, Skill, etc.) are at end-game or max level, his weapons should also have the best Blood Gems in them (damage of weapons in Bloodborne are primarily determined by Blood Gems), allowing them to steamroll their enemies with ease.
