• Perry's wrath at Jimmy for calling him "chief" has become proverbial, but it doesn't seem to make sense at first, given that Lois and Clark call him the same thing without comment. However, Lois and Clark are older and have proven themselves as reporters. Perry doesn't dislike Jimmy or his habit of calling him "chief" per se; as the old guard training the new blood, he's just demanding that he earn the right to such familiarity.
