If Jeff's old girlfriend is a hairdresser, how can she afford such a big house and animals? OH! Her husband was a baseball player who got traded to the Marlins! She must have gotten a HUGE alimony settlement!
Was Kenneth's old girlfriend Belinda still alive and Kenneth was the driver that night... or did he really manage to go back in time and save her?
Alternately, maybe Kenneth tried to kill Belinda's new boyfriend but accidentally killed Belinda instead in the original timeline, and his real mission was a guilt-driven attempt to stop himself that ultimately succeeded?
The ending is really very ambiguous. Yes, the time machine vanishes with some impressive Back to the Future-style visual effects. But we’re not actually shown where it goes, and Kenneth’s story about his ex-girlfriend has been shown to be worryingly deluded, reality not looking very consistent with his idea that he must have fixed things, while his claim of having time traveled before is unconfirmed. He’s probably somewhat crazy, despite everything. For all we know, Kenneth and Darius could have gone anywhere, or just disintegrated.
