Fridge Brilliance
- I've always wondered what the hell Pterry was thinking when he described the sound of the Pyramids flaring in Pyramids as "Cheops". Then I realised: The flaring is the Pyramids essentially moving things back in time. And the sound "cheops" is phonetic.
- Also, the Great Pyramid of Cheops is one of the more famous pyramids in real life — also goes by the name of "Giza".
Fridge Horror
- When the revived royal mummies finally reach the oldest pyramid, they expect to release Khuft, founder of the kingdom. Instead, it turns out to be Dios's de-aging chamber. Realizing how long Dios had been manipulating them all, the mummies abandon their tomb-busting to seek out and accuse the high priest, assisting Teppic in defusing the Great Pyramid before letting themselves disintegrate in the river and finally rest in peace. But doesn't that imply that Khuft, himself, is still trapped inside a pyramid they never opened?
- As of the end of the book, the kingdom of Djelibeybi is 7,000 years old and is on to its 1,399th monarch... which makes their average reign just five years. Has Dios been quietly disposing of them as soon as they show dangerous levels of independent thought?
