Frankie Stein being revealed as non-binary in this movie may not make a whole lot of sense at first, and may seem like an attempt at representation… until you remember the origins of the original Frankenstein’s Monster, in which it was described as being formed from the parts of many different bodies by Victor Frankenstein, making it literally androgynous in a sense. Frankie is the same way, in that they're seemingly made from many different body parts, and thus would not exactly have an exact gender to fit into.
