It feels great when you beat the last mission...until you realize that the only way for your pilots to survive the Renfield bomb is to jump back in time while abandoning your meks. Which puts them right back into the war. Imagine how many times a really useful pilot has done that, and where the pilots in those time pods might come from.
Some of the missions on Detritus have A.C.I.D.-covered Vek jumping out from A.C.I.D. tiles. Yet, they still die like any other Vek if pushed into an A.C.I.D. tile, even if it's the same tile they emerged from.
perhaps they somehow use the debris from Tunneling up to somehow survive the initial jump?
A.C.I.D doesn't deal damage on its own. Though why the Vek don't drown in the water is harder to explain. Perhaps the period of time in which they leave the tunnel and travel through the water isn't long enough to drown them?
Generic pilots who survive the final mission become eligible time travelers, but they will never show up as options in the Change Time Traveler menu at the start of a run.
