Fridge Brilliance

  • Five is the recurring Arc Number of the overall Krakoan Age, and it rears its numerical head once again in the final issue:
    • Xavier and Sinister's ghost review Sinister's plans for ascending to Dominionhood: Sinister's with the Red Diamond Empire (as seen in Sins of Sinister); Orbis's use of a shard of the M'Kraan crystal, and Stasis doing something with the Sun - "three Dominion attempts", as they put it.
    • Mother Righteous is the fourth Sinister clone, and her attempt (by using magic) is shown in issue #18. She fails.
    • The very end of issue #18 shows that the four Sinister clones have been unknowingly following a preprogrammed course of action: a fifth Sinister conscious, symbolized by a crown.
      • After four failed attempts, the accrued knowledge from the four Sinister clones leads to a fifth attempt - the only one successful, as shown in Sins of Sinister: Dominion.

Fridge Horror

Consider that Essex set his four clones at the end of the 19th century to pursue four different ways to reach Dominionhood, one of which the Red Diamond Sinister, who pursued genetic and eugenics. Also, consider that, throughout the 20th century, he took his sweet time to amass his genetic database of mutants, and had specific targets in mind: Xavier, Shaw, Gambit, Cyclops, Carter Ryking. Right at the beginning, Xavier and Magneto approach a version of Sinister with a proposition to join them in creating Krakoa in the future. It is possible that, secretly, Sinister was subconsciously working towards the Dominionhood goal via mutantkind, and allying himself with Krakoa accelerated his plans and gave him the means to do so. This means that Xavier and Magneto (and Moira) led a wolf into their flock unwittingly, which helped Enigma's coming online.
