Fridge Brilliance
- Much of the girls' most desired and least desired traits make a lot of sense, if you consider their lives, personalities and backstories.
- Tiffany's complicated relationship with her porn-star mom Jessie would probably lead her to distance herself from casual sex, which is why she doesn't like Sexuality. She prefers Flirtation, presumably not wanting anything too serious to distract from her studies.
- Kyanna doesn't desire Romance as she's likely not looking for a serious relationship, being a young mom and all. She wants a nice partner on whom she can rely on things she's unable to do, which is why she's more into Talent.
- It can also be inferred from her question-and-answer sessions that she got pregnant and the father of her child abandoned her, leaving her to raise the kid alone, meaning maybe she doesn't really trust 'romance' in terms of falling for someone all over again and risking losing them too.
- Nikki implies that she's been hit on before due to her looks and she doesn't like it. As such, she doesn't care much for Sexuality. As she herself is an artist (although possibly only on a hobbyist level), it makes sense that she would appreciate a Talented individual. One could also interpret playing games as "Talent," which would definitely impress Nikki.
- Audrey's preference seems contradictory at first glance. She's very vocal about just letting herself go and having fun, how it's easier to just "fuck around" than deal with the entire hassle of dating (which makes Romance fall flat in her eyes), and her comments are often very sexually loaded. And yet her preference is Flirtation, not Sexuality. Turns out, she was actually a virgin prior to meeting you (according to Kyu), which means she may not have as much of an understanding about Sexuality as her "party girl" persona might project... which indicates she's far more familiar and comfortable with Flirtation as a result of her prior short relationships.
- Aiko isn't impressed by Talent, as she's a university professor and has probably seen much more impressive feats than you could likely perform, in addition to being a very jaded and frustrated person fed-up with seeing her students getting further than she ever did. Being a professor likely leaves her with only just enough time for sex, which is why she finds Sexuality appealing.
- Beli is very shy and insecure despite lots of guys hitting on her, so Flirtation is not her cup of tea. She wants a classic courtship so Romance appeals to her. Another way to look at it is as an indication of her Covert Pervert nature. With her embarrassment in her introduction, one would think her dislike would be Sexuality. However, she dislikes Flirtation, possibly because she only wants sexual advances when the person means it, not just playfully flirting.
- Lola, despite all her casual playfulness, is very serious about the future so she looks for a steady relationship, ergo Romance. And, as she has traveled around, plays various sports, and seen many things before meeting you, she's not easily impressed by your Talent. Alternatively, since Lola is a hard working and ambitious Go-Getter Girl, she might just not believe in/care about the concept of natural "talent."
- Plus she only has one job to deal with in this game, an airline stewardess, a job where she's not the boss. This probably explains why she changes her tune in Hunie Pop 2. She probably realized she needed to get her priorities straight if she want to get her own business afloat, even if that meant putting sexual relationship to the side (Flirtation). Of course, she's still willing to make time for her loved ones, hence why Romance isn't on the opposite end.
- Jessie, being a porn star who loves her work, desires Sexuality and is not interested in the commitment that comes with Romance.
- Kyu would logically be interested in Sexuality, but she's unique in this case as what is shown in the HunieBee for her desired trait isn't what she's personally interested in, but what she wants to see you do. As always, she's teaching you how to pick up chicks, which is why Flirtation is her interest; she wants to see you using what she taught you and getting better at it. Meanwhile, she doesn't believe for a second that you have any Talent, besides what she's already seen living in your room, so she won't be impressed by your few socially acceptable talents.
- Celeste, being an alien, is much more likely to respond to visual actions (Talent) over what constitutes Flirtation from a foreign culture. It's anthropology 101.
- Momo is an innocent Cat Girl that geniunely wants her master's romantic love, so she's more into Romance than Sexuality. She's also too young to know about the latter before meeting you, what with being 1 cat year old.
- Venus, being the Goddess of Love, is above something as simple as Flirtation. Sexuality is her interest because she hasn't found anyone that can actually satisfy her in quite a long time, according to her dialogue with Kyu; she only deigns to date you after you've successfully bedded all the other girls, proving that you might be able to end her dry spell satisfactorily.
- How do the girls with opposite trait preferences compare to one another?
- Audrey is the meanest girl in the game, while Beli is the nicest girl in the game.
- Kyu is teaching the player about dating, while Celeste is learning about dating from the player.
- Jessie forms relationships based on lust, while Momo forms relationships based on love.
- Kyanna works hard to escape a low point in her life, while Lola works hard to avoid any low points in her life.
- Nikki leads a life that involves minimal interaction with people, while Aiko leads a life that requires a lot of social interaction.
- Tiffany wants nothing to do with sex, while Venus is desperate for a satisfactory partner.
- Jessie says she finds family very important. Not only is this a rather nuanced trait for someone like her, it also hints at a desire to reconnect with her daughter. This is supported by the fact that her favorite season is winter and her favorite personal gifts tend to be Christmas items... because Tiffany, her daughter, has her birthday on December 22nd.
- The times of day that each girl is willing to take alcohol correspond well with their lifestyles. For some examples, Audrey and Jessie like to drink fairly often (Jessie's hobby is drinking alcohol), whereas Beli and Lola get upset if you try to get them drunk in the morning and afternoon.
- Lola is more commonly seen "out of town" than the other girls. This makes a lot of sense, seeing as her job is being an airline stewardess.
- While the outfits a lot of girls wear on dates seem random or just based on fanservice, it kind of makes sense that Venus would show up at places like a casino or outdoor restaurant with nothing over her corset and stockings. She wants to see if you're as good as Kyu claims, so she's testing to see if you can keep your head in the game and woo her without being Distracted by the Sexy.
- On the main menu, each girl appears to hold one specific token that corresponds to their basic personality. Beli (spiritual) holds a Joy token, Jessie (pornstar) holds a Sexuality token, Aiko (Hot Teacher) holds a Flirtation token, Tiffany (schoolgirl) holds a Passion token, Nikki (introvert) holds a Sentiment token, Lola (traveller) holds a Romance token, Audrey (Mega-bitch) holds a Heartbreak token, and Kyanna (fitness girl) holds a Talent token. What is Kyu holding? Focus on her, and the tokens appear to be floating very close to the screen; she's holding all of them.
- Some of the tokens are bubbled while others have a shape fitting glow. The one in bubbles are the four trait tokens (Flirtation, Romance, Talent and Sexuality) while the others are side tokens (Passion, Joy, Sentimentality and Heartbreak) meant as boosters.
- Tiffany is so considerate with Kyanna to the point of babysitting Kyanna's son for free because Tiffany herself is the daughter of a single mom. She wants Kyanna to save money in order to not fall into porn like Jessie did.
- Which becomes a bit depressing when you realize that, in the sequel, you can hire both to work as cam girls and can make them work as escorts.
- In HunieCam Studio, Jessie has "chubby" as one of her listed fetishes. This seems weird at first given her figure in the original game, until you remember that she had a real weakness for junk food and desserts like cheeseburgers, pizza, and ice cream. Guess her dietary habits are beginning to catch up with her.
- Why is Audrey friends with Nikki? Simple: she can't stand people who pretend to be something they're not, and Nikki is completely honest about who she is, even in spite of how glaringly they contrast each other in every other aspect.
- Likewise, it might sound cruel of her to call Tiffany a plastic or a fake-ass hoe until you remember Tiffany is a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing. Audrey might be not like she plays up her Nice Girl aspects, when she is holding back on certain topics.
- The player of the game is actually a 'player' in two senses of the word. They are a 'player', first and foremost, as they are the player of the game and the ones going through the motions of trying to woo the girls. But the player is also a 'player' because they're doing just that. They're being a player by hitting on and picking up a lot of girls.
- Momo, despite being your "pet", goes around town on her own and can only be found in your room at night. Cats are independent and like to explore and only return home to eat and sleep.
- Nikki has a minor obsession with extraterrestrial life. She's the only character you can find on the beach at night. Guess where you find the space alien Celeste?
- Momo, despite supposedly being a cat, seems to have a preference for food items that are vegetables or dessert. While the former is odd given that cats are obligate carnivores, the sweets makes a certain amount of sense. Candy is not acceptable, despite being sweet like dessert, because they contain nothing but sugar, which a supposed cat like Momo would be unable to taste. However, she will accept dessert food items like donuts and cake. Unlike the candy, items of the dessert category can both make use of milk and fat, two things that cats enjoy. Milk is obviously a commonly held treat for cats in popular culture, and cats, like many carnivorous animals, enjoy foods with fat in them due to both the taste and the high amount of energy in fat. Even if Momo can't taste the sweet parts, she can at least appreciate the bits of savory and dairy in the desserts.
- Kyu and Venus have lines implying they don't think the protagonist is very attractive. However, the human girls have multiple lines where they compliment his/her appearance. There's a simple explanation for this inconsistency: Kyu is a love fairy and Venus is a literal goddess. Of course they'd have higher standards for attractiveness than humans!
- Despite Audrey and Nikki being negative towards each other, they seem to have be on equal footing. Tiffany, on the other hand, acts nice (or overdoes it) but in reality, doesn't know much about Nikki (or her interests) and is clearly lying to Audrey about a lot of things. No wonder why Audrey thinks she's fake.
- Adding to the above explanation of Kyanna's least liked trait is Romance, Kyanna not only flirts with the PC but technically gives them a scandalous second text picture (second to only Jessie, Nikki technically also does this but it's implied to be more innocent), showing herself in only a towel which clearly shows that she still has a good relationship with her Sexuality in some way.
Fridge Horror
- Sometimes, at the end of a successful date, Celeste will throw a relieved remark about how no tentacle monsters showed up. It's obviously making a joke about a common element in hentai. But then there's the fact that the third picture she sends you after successful dates has her being molested by a tentacle monster (with a humorously light-hearted log entry accompanying it with a bloody heart sign to boot). And that her homeworld's name is Tendricide, likely a portmanteau term for ''tendril'' and the ''-cide'' suffix. This either makes things darker in a pretty scary way, or an absurdly hilarious way.
- More of a fridge tear-jerker, but Kyu has fallen in love with all her previous clients, and never makes any mention of leaving them or falling out of love with them. She's also nearly four hundred years old, and says love fairies like her have lifespans that can be measured in millennia. While it's never stated in the game itself, there's a very real possibility that she was forced to watch as her previous lovers grew old and died, and there's no indication that the player will be any different — or any future clients she may have, for that matter.
