Fridge Brilliance

  • Gilbert initially thinks the Sanderson sisters are Not Evil, Just Misunderstood. He may have come to this conclusion due to getting a lot of his information about them from Rev. Traske's journals. After reading the ravings of a bitter old fundamentalist that would condemn a teenage girl for refusing to marry someone she doesn't like and would take away her only family as punishment, he may well have concluded that all the stories were misogynistic crock made up to slander three women who the world didn't like or understand. Which, in the real Salem witch trials, is precisely what happened.
    • Especially since Gilbert himself is a social outcast, like the Sandersons once were; he has every reason to sympathize with them.
  • Becca and the girls cast a reunion spell that takes Winifred to wherever her sisters had vanished to. We're never told where she ends up, just that she was able to reunite with them offscreen. The final time we see the Sandersons is when they record "The Witches Are Back" during the credits, so on a meta level, we actually do get to see them reunite after all. It's not canon to the story, but it does symbolize the sisters being together again.
  • The complete absence of Max, Allison, Dani, even Jay and Ernie, makes a lot more sense when seeing how obsessed Salem became with the Sanderson Sisters. Since all five of them knew firsthand the sisters were a bunch of remorseless and very dangerous child murderers, the fact their town was now giving the three an in-universe Draco in Leather Pants treatment (to the point of there being lookalike contests on Halloween) and trying to say they were Not Evil, Just Misunderstood would've probably been too much for them.

Fridge Horror

  • It's established early on that, like the witches she inspired, the Mother Witch also feasts on children's souls to maintain her lifespan. The ending reveals that she is still around in 2022. That could only mean one thing: this witch has been continuously eating children for centuries, to this very day!
    • Alternatively, the Mother Witch is still alive is because she herself cast Magicka Maxima on her coven and, like Winifred, is granted immortality. Why lie to the young Sanderson sisters in the beginning about needing to feed off children? She doesn't want anyone else to even know about the Magicka Maxima spell, let alone use it (and maybe she just enjoys eating the occasional mortal child after all the years she's been murdering them)
