Fridge / Halo 4

Fridge Logic:

  • In the one with the Mammoth, the plan is to use Pelicans as Target Spotters for the mini-MAC. Plan B ends up being to have the Master Chief do it by hand with the laser target designator, instead of, you know, using their damn eyes to hit the freaking enormous targets.
  • The UNSC sure has a lot of equipment and weaponry that's easily disabled by enemy interference but can be manually reactivated if Master Chief physically fights his way over to it. No wonder he initially thought that Guilty Spark's plan in the original was to "Activate Halo's defenses to defeat the Flood". It's what his mission would probably have been if it was a UNSC facility.
  • Why would the UNSC put the unlikable, incompetent Del Rio in command of the Infinity, the biggest, most badass war machine Humanity has ever built? Because he is one of, if not the only surviving officer senior enough for the job, considering the Human-Coventant war finished only five years ago. Yes, he's spent most of his career behind a desk, but that's what saved him from getting wiped out, and it was clearly seen by the higher-ups as better than appointing an officer with no experience
    • Del Rio is technically lower then John on the Chain-of-Command so it's very possible, and even hinted that Del Rio was at least respectable and somewhat competent, but now that the literal Executive Officer of the Navy(John-117 was promoted to Master Cheif Petty Officer of the Navy after Halo 3.) Is on board the Infinity. Suddenly he is no longer the man in charge, making him look incompetent by being belligerent with his direct superior.
