In Golden Axe 3 you rescue the King by defeating him in battle and restoring him from his Eve form. Then he's struck by lightning and dies in seemingly a Big-Lipped Alligator Moment. Only later, in the True Final Boss encounter, do you find out that Hellstrike has an undodgeable lightning attack.
Ax Battler doesn’t battle using an ax, which seems odd, until you consider his main enemies. Death Adder, Death Bringer, and Dark Guld all wield axes in combat, in other words, Ax Battler is named because he battles against axes.
