Fridge Brilliance

  • The revelation that Shawn has become much more like Cory than he ever was on the original series (and Maya being influenced by Riley) makes more sense when Alan mentions, way back in season 1 of the original show, that he was actually a lot like Shawn but had a friend like Cory influencing him.
  • Cory hasn't ever really shown restraint when he's allowed to be brutally honest in the past, like that one time at Rachel's dinner party. It makes sense then, when Riley also insists that Cory tells the truth about Topanga's chicken.
  • Cory calls every one of his students "Mr/Miss [Last Name]" just like Mr. Feeny did when Cory was a student, except for Farkle. Why? Well, Farkle's last name is Minkus & he's the son of Cory's old classmate Stuart Minkus. Whilst calling Farkle "Mr. Minkus" would spoil The Reveal a few episodes early, the in-universe explanation is probably more along the lines of Cory thinking he would sound too much like Mr. Feeny if he did so.
  • The lengths Cory went to in order to get Riley to drop the 'Harajuku Girl' persona she'd adopted to become popular make a lot more sense when one recalls Shawn being briefly taken in by a cult.
  • Why was Lucas the one to win the student council election? He was the only one who didn't resort to dirty tactics against his friends to win.
    • Well it does help that his group 'Democracy' was the only one that allows people to vote.
  • "Girl Meets Friendship" provides a simple explanation to Lucas' absence in previous & future episodes - he was visiting friends & family back in Texas.
  • Cory's over-the-top Papa Wolf reaction to Lucas in the pilot makes a lot more sense when you learn about Lucas' Dark and Troubled Past and that Cory knew about it. He didn't want Riley and Maya hanging around a guy who could have turned out to be a violent troublemaker.
    • At the same he's willing to give Lucas and Maya a chance because he knows they are both not that different from Shawn.
  • Amy’s hostility towards Topanga in “Girl Meets Home for the Holidays” could be explained as her being threatened by her postition in Cory’s life. It’s stated that this is the first time Topanga has been in charge of Christmas dinner as its stated they usually did it at Amy and Allen’s. Amy likely cherished this as a time where she could still cook for her son. This is why she was so critical of her work.
    • “His Answer part 2” provides a little backround. Amy is the only one to openly object to Cory and Topanga’s engagement and assumed elopment. This is highlighted with her line “Why couldn't you have gone to Yale.”
    • We can put this into even clearer context: Joshua, her youngest child, is going off to college around this time. She and Alan finally have an empty nest, and she's probably taking her feelings about it out on her other son's wife, for the same reasons she did in "His Answer", because she blames Topanga for not being able to celebrate a family Christmas at their house like they always did.
  • Cory's statement in "Girl Meets the Secret of Life" of "People change people" takes on a whole knew meaning when one recalls how different Cory, Topanga, and Shawn were when BMW first began.
  • Why is Chet Hunter's ghost still aging? Because Alan Matthews is and whatever changes Shawn sees in him, he applies to his own father.
  • "Girl Meets Cory and Topanga", an episode about living up to your parents' legacy, was written by Joshua Jacobs, the son of Michael Jacobs (creator of Boy Meets World and Girl Meets World).
  • "Girl Meets Rileytown" is pretty tearjerking, but there is an interesting thing - Riley is caught doing her award show when she's alone in school. Riley isn't in any clubs or sports that we see besides the one episode of cheerleading. She rarely if ever gets detention. She has no real reason to stay late after school besides possibly wanting to hang out with her dad.
  • Why does Smackle keep insisting Lucas is in love with her slash implies she's in love with him? Besides her stated reason of being insecure in Farkle's love of her, one of the first things she said when she joined the group was "I want to be part of the Triangle!" She wants to emulate the most interesting aspect of her new social circle, and who best to do it with than her beloved and his best friend?
  • Ultimately, the Bad Future depicted in Boy Meets World mostly still comes true. Except this time it's a good version of it. Eric is Plays With Squirrels, but as a Mayor of a town in upstate New York. Shawn wanders and takes photographs, but it's for a magazine and he's actually happy with it. Jack works for a huge corporation, but he still has his heart. The future was still predicted, it's just not bad.
    • But most importantly, most of them still talk to each other (even Rachel is still in touch with at least Eric), averting the primary source of strife which caused the bad future.

Fridge Horror

  • In "Girl Meets Crazy Hat", Farkle was shown to value profits over everything else, including quality control. Is this the way Minkus runs Minkus International or (at best) how Farkle thinks he does?
  • Borderline Fridge Horror: Zay is the only one who uses the door to Riley's room rather than (climbing up the fire escape and) going through the window. He's also...let's say, statistically significantly more likely to get stopped/harassed/shot by the cops than Lucas or Farkle are.
  • "World of Terror 2": The Bay Window ghost seems to be slightly older than Riley and Maya. Regardless, she's clearly not that old anyway. Makes one wonder how she died so young... it having been the '20s when she was alive, it leaves a lot to the imagination.
