• In Salvation's Reach, it's implied that Pilot-Servitor Terek-8-10 is actually a failed Space Marine neophyte who has been lobotomised and wired permanently to the landing craft he pilots. Among other things, he has two hearts, suggesting he underwent partial geneseed implantation before becoming a servitor.
  • This is not an uncommon practice, either implemented when some failure of the process leaves the neophyte so damaged as to be useless for anything else, or for every trainee dubbed a "failure" by the more ruthless chapters..
