Fridge Brilliance

  • Scrooge Took a Level in Kindness when he adopted Donald and Della, and that kept him from going the way of his comic counterpart. We see that when he has no children in his care, he can be quite callous to the beings that would become his enemies. Family reigns in your worst impulses and maintains your emotional connections. Louie of all people convinces him that he needs to make a sincere apology to Magica.
    • This may also explain why Doofus accepts Louie's apology and leaves without a fight. No declaration of revenge, no rejection of the apology, no mention of B.O.Y.D. "stealing his inheritance". Perhaps getting a brother and actually being disciplined by his parents actually humbled him a bit more than he'd actually admit. Getting an apology was all that's left.
  • This episode explains why Magica while possessing Lena in the first season finale couldn't believe at first that Scrooge had turned away his own family and become a wreck, and why she snapped him out of it. She was in his shoes once; rather, his spats. Magica didn't want to share a moment of similarity with her worst foe, because he indirectly caused Poe to be lost forever.
  • Of course Louie wouldn't even try to defend Scrooge on Magica's case; Magica lost her twin, just like Donald lost Della years ago, and Louie would lose it if anything happened to any of his brothers. He doesn't just recognize Scrooge did something particularly awful, but he can actually sympathize with Magica, even if she’s so horrible.
  • Louie might have a small point that Scrooge is to blame for giving him the task of taking care of multiplying creatures, which Louie was unable to perform, so why didn’t Scrooge give Louie less dangerous tasks like taking care of plants or washing dishes or taking out the trash if he wants his nephew to learn responsibility? First of all, Louie would still neglect those tasks so easily even if Scrooge did pay him some small amount for them. Scrooge probably thought Louie would be better incentivized to learn responsibility through tasks that had stakes, likely based on Louie running his company in Season 2. Scrooge settled on having him take care of Gribbles, which wouldn’t cause as much damage as running his company, but still involved the stake of the creature multiplying if Louie didn’t read the instructions.
    • Related to the above, Louie not taking responsibility might seem like he hasn’t learned anything from Season 2 from his stint of running his uncle’s company, but there is a noticeable difference in between that and the task of taking care of Gribbles besides the stakes; running Scrooge’s company was something Louie chose for himself, and Scrooge and Della implicitly made it his choice to run the company or give it back to Scrooge by telling him the latter without making it sound like a direct order. And because Louie made his own choice, he had no one but himself to blame when things went south, so he was able to learn his lesson without any sort of prompting. For this episode, taking care of the Gribbles was something Louie was told to do by Scrooge, so he sees it as a chore, doesn’t read the instructions, and blames Scrooge for the task. It all goes to show Louie doesn’t really learn when he’s told to do something.
  • Glomgold was certainly scared of Doofus after his birthday party and would never get involved with him again, but why does he get involved in Doofus’ scheme now? One of Doofus’s concessions was a portion of Scrooge’s fortune if Scrooge loses, so he couldn’t pass that up. Once Doofus abandons the trial he effectively forfeits all his entitlements of the money to Glomgold (since Magica gets Scrooge’s #1 Dime and Ma Beagle gets the deed to Duckburg).
  • Poe's raven form is shown to have a yellow bill and feet, rather than the black ones ravens possess (which is reflected by Hecka). But given that Poe retains his hair and slitted eyes in this form, it's most likely he retained the original yellow color of his beak and feet as well.
    • That doesn't explain the other ravens Magica encounters looking for Poe, since they are similarly black and yellow as well. What would explain is that they could be simply another kind of bird that look similar to ravens but possess a slightly different color, like the yellow-billed chough.

Fridge Horror

  • The way Magica treats Lena, her "niece", is already pretty awful. Not helping is that fans theorized that Lena was Poe's daughter before The Reveal that Lena was her Living Shadow turned into a little girl. It gets worse knowing that Poe is canon, and Magica accidentally changed him into a raven. Magica was abusing Lena not just For the Evulz, but every time the girl called her "aunt," it was a harsh reminder of what she had lost.
    • What makes that idea really heartbreaking is that Magica created Lena from Poe's amulet. So that in effect means Lena is Poe's daughter. A daughter he never had the chance to meet.
    • Magica's abuse of Lena can perhaps be traced back to Scrooge telling her that "family holds you back".
  • Building on the above point, it's likely one of those surviving townsfolk grew up to become The Phantom Blot. Scrooge's actions indirectly created the magical world's worst nightmare.
    • More likely, The Phantom Blot is a survivor from a different town; of course, his tragedy would still be indirectly Scrooge's fault. Poe's role in the Sibling Yin-Yang was to restrain Magica's more destructive tendencies for the sake of Pragmatic Villainy; without this restraint, and embittered over losing him, Magica wouldn't hold back at all. After years of unsuccessfully looking for him, Magica tried to get back to the usual 'terrorize and abuse villagers' routine, but it wasn't as fulfilling without Poe around, so she'd eventually destroy the towns out of boredom.
  • If the Phantom Blot wanted to break Magica, he chose the wrong De Spell (Lena) to do that. If he did find and capture Poe, he would’ve succeeded in revenge against Magica a long time ago, which he didn’t. Even if he didn’t know about Poe, the Phantom Blot would’ve dug deeper and find that out eventually, and that’s a matter of when.
  • Given how long ago was Magica's flashback, it is highly possible that Poe as a non-sapient raven either got eaten by wildlife or died of old age, which is why Magica never found him.
  • Magica notes that "for some reason" the offerings from the villagers eventually stopped coming. Given how Scrooge later states most of them were goats by then, it stands to reason the offerings stopped because there were simply not enough people left in the region who were willing or able to give them. It would seem Poe's attempts at Pragmatic Villainy weren't a match for Magica's extremism.
  • As far as we know, given only Poe knew how to change them back, none of the transformed villagers ever regained their sapience. As far as who they were before their transformation, they were all as good as dead.
  • According to Scrooge, most of the villagers were goats by the time he stopped Magica, suggesting there were a few who didn't get transformed. Was there any money left over for them after he spent much of it to build that farm? Considering this was a village thrust into poverty, it's possible those survivors were given no choice but to work at Scrooge's farm for a living and sell the milk of the goats who were once beloved friends and family.
  • It seems weird that Magica never brought Poe up before and the only explanation was that the De Spells have a blood fued against "Clan McDuck", until you realize that by the time of the current series, Poe is likely long dead due to old age. Magica can never get her brother back, so she'll instead inflict the same pain on Scrooge; by taking away his family and destroying Clan McDuck.
  • The Opposite theory of Fridge Brilliance (refutation). The fact that Doofus reconciled with Louie does not mean that he accepted B.O.Y.D. as a brother. If we assume that he still hates him, then sooner or later Doofus will try to get rid of him (only in another way). Then the feud with Louie will resume (after all, he will not approve of harming B.O.Y.D.).
