Fridge Brilliance

  • The period of the life of the characters shown in the series covers not more than a year and at the same time is quite eventful against the background of financial problems. The main heroes experience a lot of moral revelations, even experiencing moments of depression and intense internal struggle. It seems to indicate that Lian-Chu and Gwizdo are in a protracted personal crisis of their early 30s.
  • Hunting a variety of dragons is an expensive craft in itself: weapons and equipment periodically break down and need to be repaired, and the daily diet of a dragon fighter, according to Lian-Chu, should include good meat. Don't be surprised that with a relaxed order search mode, the heroes easily get into debt.
  • The tavern where the heroes live is full of their trophies and regularly receives dragon meat. This suggests that over the past 10 years, Lian-Chu, Gwizdo and Hector have fine-tuned their workflow and worked hard while Zoe was growing up with her foster mom and little sister.
  • Almost all the products that Lian-Chu knits repeat the color scheme corresponding to Zoria in her combat outfit. Obviously, this is due not only to a limited set of yarn, but also to the giant's longing for his beloved apprentice.
  • Compared to the full-length movie, Gwizdo looks more relaxed in terms of finding orders and tends to search for free time in the animated series. He also tries himself in writing his own books and slowly improves his physical skills. The decline of his financial self-discipline may be associated not only with a personal crisis and and a vague need for change, but also with the will to drown out the hidden longing for Zoria, similar to Lian-Chu's.
  • Talking about Zoria herself. Judging by the events in one of the penultimate episodes,"The Master of the Dragon", she badly took the betrayal of her first love, Malo, and tried to drown her disappointment in work, to the point that she almost died on a mission and was taken home by her riding dragon for treatment. Looking at the obsession with which she tries to return to work as soon as she regains consciousness, you quickly conclude that her mental trauma surpasses any combat wounds.

Fridge Horror

  • In the episode "Isle of Mist", the Brotherhood of Dogdalites could be replenished at the expense of random guests who witnessed the miraculous power of the Fountain of Youth. However, when the secret was revealed to Lian-Chu and Gwizdo, the brotherhood decided to kill the young saviors from the dragon. Judging by how fiercely they are ready to beat Lian-Chu to death as a crowd and how coolly they are ready to drown Gwizdo in the Fountain, killing people is not something egregious for the Brotherhood. Probably, the island has become quite cramped for a large number of people according to the elders and quite a long time ago. Doesn't this mean that over the decades, any random witnesses to the secret have been killed, and their exact number is unknown?
  • In the animated series Prince Granion de Bismuth positions himself as the youngest and only heir to the throne. In the throne room of his parents there is a huge tapestry depicting three princes during a battle with a large dragon on the orders of the queen. Moreover, the full-length movie and the first volume of the comics show exactly HOW the elder princes died. Nevertheless, the queen is ready to pay the main characters not for saving her only son, but for revenge in honor of his memory (fortunately, Lian-Chu, Gwizdo and Hector save him during a dangerous mission and give him survival lessons). One conclusion follows from this: the Prince Charming's constant snow-white smile has a VERY sad background!
    • Since, according to the comics, Gwizdo actually witnessed the terrible death of self-confident older Granion's brother from the dragon flame, his irritation with the actions of the younger prince is explained not as much by envy of his popularity as by psychological fatigue from the vain deaths of knights. In any case, he complained about this feeling to Lian-Chu back in the full-length prequel. This also explains several moments when he is genuinely outraged by the unfair actions of other people towards the gullible last prince.
