Fridge Brilliance
- The Doctor finds himself strangely drawn to Oswin, just as he will be drawn to Clara Oswin in "The Snowmen" and the original Clara later still. Exactly why will not be revealed until "The Name of the Doctor", however there is precedent for the Doctor to be drawn to someone whom he meets scattered through time - River Song - so he has some experience in these matters, even if he doesn't realize it.
- Heroic Sacrifice: The seeming Hand Wave that the Doctor, as a Time Lord, doesn't need the bracelet. He's probably not completely immune, but considering that he's got centuries of dealing with repressed anger (plus being a Time Lord), it's probable that he'll be able to hold off conversion for longer than Amy. Not to mention that he would gladly sacrifice himself to get Amy and Rory back together.
- This is also (at the time) the final regeneration of the Doctor, and has yet to learn that he didn't destroy Gallifrey after all. He's looking for a death with some meaning.
