Fridge Brilliance

  • Temeluchas was originally going to choose Barney for his body before Pugsly intervened. Other than simply through picking between him and Norma at random, there is another possible reason. If his armor and form as a spirit are any indication, his natural body type is closest to Barney's, so it figures that he'd be most comfortable in his form.
  • In "Just Some Guy", Barney's musical number, one of the things he mentions doing (or not doing) is filling a notebook listing things he and Logs could talk about. In "Wait Time 22 minutes" he was completely at a loss for words while he was alone with Logs, so it figures he'd learn from his mistakes.
  • Pauline gave everything to Barborah in her will. Rather than this being caused by a hidden heart of gold, it was likely a plan B in case her Grand Theft Me required her to take Barborah's identity. And while that turned out to not be necessary, she probably never bothered to update her will afterward, since she never thought she would ever become Deader than Dead.
  • Knowing the reveal about Courtney's origins in the second season, there is a lot of foreshadowing for it. Their song in "Phantom of the Theme Park" being directed upwards instead of downwards seems both a gag and a hint. Same for their fear world in "Trust me": their pounding on the walls, yelling 'let me out!' is echoed in season two's "Going Up".
    • Another subtle one can be spotted at the beginning of the song when she's looking through the book: look closely at her hand when she places it on one of the pages, not only is it the page for the upper planes, but her hand is on the 4th plane, the specific one she came from.
  • Logs' dream dinner party guest being Angsty Alfie makes sense when you consider the parrot has the same hairstyle as Barney. The bird presumably reminds him of his boyfriend.
  • Pugsley summoning the specific Day Hag he did. The Night Hag was summoned using a wolf bone, while the Day Hag, who is the sister of the Night Hag already there and only diurnal member of the family, was summoned by a dog.

Fridge Horror

  • Paying close attention to the life insurance commercial, it’s very possible Pauline intentionally killed herself to possess Barbora. She admits to having signed up for the Samsara Mutual “spirit” package. The spirit part is very obvious, but here’s something important: Samsara is the wheel of reincarnation in Buddhism. And in Dungeons & Dragons lore a Samsaran is a creature that reincarnates into another body of its species when it dies. Barbora also asks why Pauline would even need a stunt woman when she does all her own stunts. Pauline hired her to be there but was insistent that she be the one on the swing… and when she does die? Her body disintegrates when she possesses Barbora, just like the Samsaran! It’s almost a guarantee Samsara Mutual is responsible for Pauline having these powers.
  • Not necessarily straight-up horror, but something you don't want to think about too long is in episode 4. When Patrick and his friends first try to summon the Night Hag, Courtney appears and shows them the correct way to do it using a wolf bone, which she produces by reaching down her own throat, then later tries to do this a second time just to realize there aren't any left. Considering Courtney's smaller than the 10 year old children at the party, the size of a wolf, and the manufactured environment of the park that the former never leaves, there's no explanation for how those bones got there that isn't at least a little unsettling to picture.
