Fridge Brilliance

  • Episode 9 reveals the meaning behind Mage's disgust towards Lindo in Episode 5: Lindo is a dhampyr (half-human, half-vampire) and vampires and devils have been at war with each other.
  • The Animal Motifs of the Student Council.
    • Rem is represented in the opening and their introduction song by the ram. One of things that the ram symbolizes is leadership. He's the leader of the devils.
    • Urie is represented in the opening and their introduction song by spider webs. He always calls female characters 'butterflies' which are prey to spiders. He's essentially calling them prey the whole time.
    • Mage is represented in the opening and their introduction song by a snake. One common symbolism of snakes is for the underworld. He and the others are devils.
    • Shiki is represented in the opening and their introduction song by a crow. A crow has black wings and Shiki is a Fallen Angel, and has black wings. Also, unlike the others' animal symbols, his is the only one to actually have wings — unlike the others who can levitate, Shiki uses his wings.
  • Why is Shiki the most antagonistic to Roen? In Episode 7, it's revealed that Roen is a devil (technically cerebus), plus Shiki gets the most disrespect of the Student Council, so what better opportunity to assert superiority over a devil dog.
  • In Jung's psychology, there exists the Anima/Animus, with Anima being the female unconsciousness of the male and Animus being the male unconsciousness of the female. From the feminine Ritsuka whose most significant moments in the anime is deciding her destiny for herself and is a kindhearted person with Sympathy for the Devil, her Opposite-Sex Clone Marius, who wholeheartedly subscribes to You Can't Fight Fate and is rude to pretty much everyone (especially Roen) is born.

Fridge Horror

  • What became of Azuna's corpse in Episode 9? Is it still in the same location or what?
