The President interrupted a new episode of a popular show for a 60 minute special on cheese. Sure, it was to protect the dignity of an ambassador's 16-year-old daughter who yelled at a horse in that episode, but chances are, the public wouldn't know that unless the episode is given a repeat (and note that the nation has different time zones, so the daughter's screwed in the western states anyway). They'd take it as an abuse of power for his own 8-year-old daughter, costing him the next election.
In regards to the episode having a repeat, since he IS the President of the United States, he could have ordered the episode to be banned after the initial airing.
